  1. College football, you 100% have to have a QB who can make yards when the play breaks down. You have to be mobile enough to evade a rush and when you are flushed out, have the poise to get rid of it, find an outlet or tuck it and get yards moving first laterally and then cutting up field. QE can do none of the above and thus we are screwed. If/when MM shows his ability in a game to make a lateral move , then a cut and tuck it, off schedule, QE won’t ever see the field again.
  2. Getting a Ginger and Marianne feeling here. For the youngs on the board, you won’t get it
  3. QE is a shit QB and we aren’t winning anything of note with him. No agility or sudden-ness to his game. He’s got cement in his shoes and literally fell over himself 3 times. Can’t believe how shitty he looked. Has he ever lifted a weight?
  4. He’s terrible. No agility , no sudden-ness to his game. He’s not the guy
  5. Every year my Dad, brother, three cousins and two of their friends from Portland all go up to a family cabin in MT on the Idaho border about 60 miles south of Canada. Some of you may know Coeur d'Alene, it's in that general area of Sandpoint/Clark River. Anyway, we have done it yearly for the last 5-6 years , we are all in our 50's , save my Dad who is in mid 70's. Without a doubt, it's the most therapeutic long weekend of the year. Between the war stories, butt stories, jokes, life/current events, copious amounts of beer , weed , cigars, we have the best time. Work in a little fishing, camp maintenance , fire pit management, poker and grilling, without that trip, there would be a void for sure. B/c of that trip, I initiated 2 other group text threads and have been able to re-connect with different groups of about 15 friends, one of which we have started a ATX game watching annual trip. There is loneliness in this country, but I truly believe you get out of it what you put in. Being a friend, lending an ear, participating in life is action oriented. The only thing that is going to separate who you are today, from who you will be in 10 years is the people you associate with and the books you read.
  6. Very old Harvard study started 60-70 years ago followed hundreds of males throughout their lives. As the men aged in to their 70's+, the one common theme among those that lived the fullest, happiest lives, was the existence of male/male (no gay) relationships. In other words, guys need their guy time. Whatever it is, poker night, beers, ball games, running, hunting club (which is really drinking and poker at my place), etc..
  7. Fowler said “sec replay crew” or something to that effect. But he also thought that FG was good so there’s that.
  8. #20 Ute LB Barton, Texas got a visit from him. He’s making tackles all over the field. 6’4 220 …and I went to jr high in CA with his dad. Csb. No really kid is balling just make the tackle on the punt and had the tackle on the 4th down play
  9. When our GI's suspected a German spy had made their way in to the squad, , they would ask the perp who played centerfield for the Yankees or who Dizzy Dean played for. Very Shibboleth
  10. There was a notable SEC SEC SEC at the end of the Sugar Bowl where kicked the shit out of Georgia.
  11. I have skied CO many times , but it’s been 20 years. How does Breck stack up to Steamboat, Keystone and Purgatory (iirc called Durango now or it may have reverted back)
  12. Can someone give me the skinny on Breckenridge? After 4-5 years at Park City, we’re planning on Breck At Christmas-NYE week.
  13. This is probably the post you are referring to: Catalon was running with the 3s, which is consistent with what the 9.95s have said. My gut tells me that is due to a few things, but I don’t know shit so take it for what it’s worth; they are likely trying to protect him to a certain degree. Playing 3rd string when you’re at his level, the game is much slower and he can work into things. Learning the playbook against Kai money(eg) as opposed to X, makes it a little easier and lastly just getting him reps after coming off reconstructive shoulder surgery 9-10 mos ago , second season lost to injury. He’ll play and play a lot , but smart money is on bringing him along slowly
  14. I heard it and I forgot I saw it and I rememberd I did it and I understood
  15. Herman's disdain for 3 points and/or field position (particularly very early in a game or very late) was maddening. Hubris, over-confidence , whatever it was , I really hope Sark doesn't fall in to that trap this year. He had tendencies last year that way and that's how you let shitty teams hang around
  16. Yeah I guess so. In the end they got convicted, but his defense would have to be he only had one bullet in his gun and he thought he removed it. Weak defense imo. Eventually, Elward removed a bullet from his gun, forced Jenkins onto his knees and put the gun into his mouth, the document stated. Elward fired the gun, which did not discharge, then racked the slide, put the gun back in Jenkins’ mouth and pulled the trigger again, according to the document. The bullet lacerated Jenkins’ tongue, broke his jaw and went out through his neck.
  17. I dont understand how attempted murder is not one of the charges? Jackson MS, first no water, now '60's era racial shit, man come on Mississippi.
  18. I recently read One Soldier's War by Babchenko about his experience in Chechyna. In '91 Dudayev (former Russian Pilot) seized control of the region and expelled the Russian army. Lawlessness and chaos ensued and by the end of '94, a full blown war broke out to take Chechyna back. 100% of the RU military horrors we are seeing in Ukr took place in Chechyna, but on both sides. The evil that permeates their culture is not new. The Chechynan war was fought in cities, though there were some rural battles...for the most part it was street by street, urban warfare. Mass city bombings, total disregard for civilian lives etc...the picture this guy paints of the lack of training, leadership, total disregrad for a military hierarchy and structure was incredible. Hard to believe a superpower would have such little infrastructure...it was a total slog, fubar type stuff. No supply chain, lack of food, water, basic neccessities to arm a fighting force, it really was every man for themselves. I read the book mostly b/c I wanted to learn why/where this present day culture came from and my feeling is the history of what we saw in Chechyna and what we are seeing in UKR goes back to Lenin, Stahlin and back as far as that country has existed. Save for the fact they have oil money....take that away and Russia is closer to a third world country than any modern society. Patton was correct, we should have marched our boys all the way to Moscow and pushed the RU out of Germany, I think had we done that, perhpas the last 60 - 70 years history is different, but that's another matter.
  19. Night Rider's Lament, such a great song! Gets me dusty everytime. As i remember it: "....he tells me last night I run on to Jenny....he tells me you sure missed the track when you never come back...shes the perfect professional's wife.. she asks me why just he ride for his money, why does he rope for short pay..he must have gone crazy out there.."
  20. Rich may be a Hornfan but Cowboy Troy is a TexasEx, he was on campus same time as me. He is the fella that adds a hip hop element to several of their songs, heck of a nice guy. Back when Jdhorn92 was making the regular Dallas country bar scene (Borrowed Money, Cowboys, D&D, Top Rail etc..) in the 90's, he and I always talked Texas football. Great guy, he hung out with our crew periodically, he was always welcome. At the time, he was an aspiring singer....guess he found his niche.
  21. Discussion of Jerry Jeff Walker up thread a bit..he has a version of Something About a Boat, outstanding.
