  1. Just curious, what did you dislike? I may be a little bias, as i was a kid in the 80's living in Orange County so I could kind of relate. We would often sleep with windows wide open or the slider open to let the cool air come in. We lived in one of those bedroom communities near mile square park where homes were separated by the cinder block fences that the killer was able to easily navigate from one house to the next and get to roof tops with no problem, easy escape route. Overall I found it really good. It read like a horror novel imo.
  2. Made for an awesome book though. Hate she missed the big finale.
  3. I agree with all of that. The note I would add is I dont think the Afghan conflict went south for us. Losing one soul over there was too many, but 1,900 US service members in 20 years to hostile action is a lot lower than many thought going in, considering we were in a guerilla war. Gulf War 1, going over the burm, a buddy told me he was told "1 of 2", meaning when they went in, the CO's were told to expect 50% casualty rate going in initially. Fast forward to Afghan, and we performed exceptionally well IMO. The exit was messy, that may be what you meant, if so , i agree, but really there were few options w/o going all CR. We wrecked shop on ISIS and the Taliban, something the RU army never could accomplish. Our boys over there were nails all things considered. Those people dont want peace, its not in their DNA.
  4. From your keyboard to God's ears. This would put China on a political Island, with no true super-power ally. RU broken up to a dozen separate Republics would be a geo-political realignment not seen in generations. Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia all seem to be doing fairly well. Without RU backing commy regimes, we could end up with several Ukraines all wanting to align with the EU/West
  5. What you see in the background is the "high" part of the causeway, so sportfishing boats with large towers can get out to and from the gulf and back to safe harbor. Leading to that large expanse is a causeway that is almost flush with the IC and that has a large chunk missing, completely different than this picture you commented on, which is on the land.
  6. That project has been a massive problem. The current owner is Allegiant Air, so there will be plenty of jorts inhabiting that place. Its on Charlotte Harbor in Punta Gorda. Im sure some will find it worthwhile. It will be the equivalent of a cheap cruise in a hotel with no beach.
  7. I should clarify, i stay there on business 1x per month....likely will be awhile before i head back down there.
  8. I stay at that hotel, 3 points Sheraton. That is a picture of their Tiki Bar. Toast now.
  9. Nat gas , no. But oil to the chicoms and Indians is a full go and has been this whole 6 mos. According to Reuters, record number of imports in fact. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/china-extends-record-imports-russian-oil-into-june-cuts-saudi-supply-trade-2022-07-06/
  10. Got to be the Russians. They are selling plenty of gas to the Chicoms, Indians, Pakistanis of the world. Blow the pipeline and the Euros have a cold winter, even if the war started to go their way, they would look good by saying something along the lines , "we'd love to help you , but you know, the pipeline your allies blew up is inop". Scenario 2 is the war continues to go badly for the Russians, and thus , "well too bad, you should have not helped the UKes"
  11. From what i've seen, yes. If it goes to Tampa, Captiva will be on the lower- right side, which is the worse quadrant. If it shifts more south and east, Captiva is going to take a direct hit. If the overall storm stays a little west of Tampa, that is also going to be problematic for Captiva, as the forecast is for it to stall, slow dramatically, if it takes a more Northern track. Hitting landfall sooner (meaning Captiva), would actually be the best case for FL, as it would get over land much sooner.
  12. Check me on this, but I think the kicker and holder are free to move without it being a false start (eg if it was fake and they motioned).
  13. He got a boner off that RB pass for the TD after the on side. That was weird for the home team announcer to be so giddy about it.
  14. He’s very average. Like Garrett Gilbert, just one of those kids who peaked in HS and just doesn’t have the extra gear. Nice to have as a back up , bud doesn’t look like a power 5 starter
  15. Don’t think worthy or any WR was targeted in 2nd half. We may have had 1 pass completion the whole 2nd half to a wr iirc.need to check play tracker. Card is really a very average qb. He would not start for any team on our schedule.
  16. I’m beer guy. But of all the beers i drink in a year , that first beer in condo or in the hot tub after a gnarly day on the mountain is about the most satisfying part of my vacation. That feeling of a cold beer once you strip off the gear, let those muscles stretch …man other than a cold one when the horns have the W in hand , is about as good as it gets for this old guy. i remember last feb hopping in to the hot tub , wife and 3 daughters were shopping… I had my bose music , 3 beers and a view, after a long day shredding….pure heaven
  17. Love it!! Keep grinding man. Skiing is my all time fav
  18. Interesting you bring that up. I workout year round, pretty much so I can ski. I’m no body builder, but goblet squats and traditional squats, running and core work is a must for my 52 yo body in order to ski bell to bell on a 3-4 day trip. I’ve got 3 teens to keep up with. Quad, glutes, Lats, shoulder and Biceps all get fried during a hard ski day. I 100% stay away from moguls but give me as steep as you can get. Love the long narrow runs along a cat trail with a view. Best way to spend a day
  19. Adam Dunn was in their somewhere with Walton and the Major. Big kid ended up in MLB, had a solid career. Walton was Wally Pipped by the Major out in UCLA iirc.
