Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
Agreed. How this came up was in regards to DT depth. We will face considerably better OL play in the SEC, IMO, than in B12 and the need to add an experienced player at that position group with the loss of Carter to Auburn and departures of Murphy and Sweat.

You are wearing orange colored glasses if you think this close to the season isnt significantly more difficult than anything we've seen the last 10 years, ranked or not.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
We accounted for him upthread in the DT depth post. In fact he's listed first. No one is discounting him, but we need more experience. Collins, Bledsoe and Broughton are the only returning guys with meaningful experience. Whole new level of ballgame in the SEC week in and week out. Adding a DT transfer is damn near imperative. Adding Michigan to the schedule, UGA etc.. ideally we arent relying on true Freshman in the 2 deep.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
DT Returning - Mitchell, Collins, Bledsoe, Broughton Incoming DT - January , Melvin Hills and Robinson(?) We need the UH DT to sign here + 1 other perhaps. We lost out on the MS Juco DT, so the Freshman are going to all have to play or we need another experienced transfer imo.

Ski Season 2023/2024
Heading there in a couple weeks with a group of buddies. One of them has a house, so we should be good on local intel, but is there anything you can pass along for newb to Aspen? Believe we are skiing Snowmass 1 day and then whatever mnt has the Cloud 9 restaurant/bar the other. Eating at Catch one night. Looks like we'll be getting much better snow than you got. Family and I were at Breck for Christmas and we had similar snow to what you described, still fun though.

This. Saban demanded control as a condition of taking the job. He didn't say we need to put the bb's in the box, he said eff the bb's. There was one voice, one leader, one way of doing business. Saban won and so it worked. Not everyone can do that. He was/is a great leader and his "process" and framework was just what they needed. Shula, Price (its rolling baby), Dubose, Fran, none of them could do what Saban did.

Good question. Its my understanding from a good friend from Southlake is the scholarship/in state deal is FR year only. That could have just been his package, but he's paying full out of state now. Also, may be grade/GPA related to hold that in-state tab. The state is trying to tap in to a more diverse worker pool to meet demands of growth in the state economic climate. Out of state tuition is nearly 3x https://1819news.com/news/item/only-38-of-university-of-alabama-freshman-enrollment-from-alabama-less-than-half-undergrad-students-in-state

Out of state enrollment is appx 66%. Southlake and HP kids all over that place in the last 10 years. They pay a premium out of state. Pre-Saban, Bama was all in state kids, for the most part. All those NE students, CA, TX pay much more in tuition to be a part of the scene in T-town. Its not your old Bama. Auburn, same thing, to a degree. TX HS kids, anecdotally, cant get in to Texas. They dont want to go to College Station, cant afford TCU/SMU and Tech/Baylor is meh. They started looking at SEC schools hard and they pay a premium to out of state.

215 bodies found in mass grave behind Mississippi jail
One can be conservative and not be a racist. Lots of manufacturing prefer a non-union workforce. Your inference is an assumption, which would make me infer you are skeptical, a cynic perhaps.

B'ham has a decent medical community. Auto manufacturers love the no union South. Huntsville has the Aerospace /Tech thing going. Lower AL has water. Tons of people taking equity and moving to Baldwin County towns like Fairhope, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and paying cash. Cheap/less expensive alternative beach communities minus the craziness of FL and lots of people love the conservative climate. No BS riots, shutdowns etc.. very homogeneous (no racist) populace, conservative, easy going etc... close to New Orelans if you want that, 40 min flight or 5 hours to ATL. Easy-ish commute to FL if you want. Much more progressive state than MS or LA and if they get a bridge over Mobile Bay, it will boom even more. New airport going in downtown Mobile, cruise industry has taken notice plus there is a large deep water port on Mobile River that if they really got their way and got their shit together, companies will move out of LA to Mobile. There is a B$ downtown riverfront revitalization project going on now. I do a lot of business there and if they play it right, could be a game changer. If a fraction of the out of staters currently roaming Bama and AU campus stay in state, they could have something.

2024 Transfer Thread - The Pedantic Circlejerk
Tell us you know nothing about the SEC without telling us. Auburn is a cool college town, that is really growing. Its close to his home and has National Championship potential. Chizik won there, go figure. As did Gus and Tuberville. There is plenty of money at Auburn, SEC in general. You may be confusing AU with Miss St. Gameday there is exceptional, they recruit FL/GA heavily and always have athletes. Auburn in general has a very good rep in the south, where he is from and is plenty well capitalized. They arent UGA or UF of course in NIL potential, but they will do fine. IMO most of us Texas fans are going to be surprised about the SEC in terms of the draw to places like Auburn, Ole Miss Columbia etc.. I dont think the deep south is quite like we remember, 66% of the incoming Freshman at Bama were from out of state.

Ski Season 2023/2024
Can/t wait. About 10 of us going, half will be skiing. Any experience at Cloud Nine bar at top of the mountain? Looks fun, but never been, we're skiing Highlands one day.
