  1. Purchased a home a few years ago which was my first with a pool.  The home was completely gutted and remodeled a couple years back but the pool was largely left untouched.  Aside from relatively new plumbing and piping, it’s not a stretch to think the pool itself is all original from 30+ years ago.  It looks great from afar but upon closer inspection, it’s hurting.  Big time.  Small cracks everywhere in the plaster which, combined with the seemingly never-ending pollen, makes it nearly impossible to keep it looking clean for more than a few days at best.  The Polaris can’t get to the higher walls and cracks which are always full of dirt and compounds on itself.  The pool guy can barely keep up.

I knew when I bought the house the pool would have to be redone sooner rather than later and I can’t imagine going more than another a year or so without doing it.  But, I don’t even know where to begin?  It’s a large pool (16k +/- gallons if I had to guess?), all plaster aside from the tile edges.  I’d love to do a tile throughout but given the cost savings, I may stick with re-tiling of the perimeter and a new plaster.

Generally speaking, what does something like this even cost?  Given everything which has occurred in the past few months am I better off investing in one of the super high-end Polaris’ or Dolphins to hold me over until things slow down next year or does it look like this may go on indefinitely?  Are companies even doing this now or are they too busy with the big six figure construction jobs?

Help me, I’m dumb.  And I have no idea what I’m doing

@mchookem looks like you just went through something similar?

That could be the Cypress Creek area.  We kept our houseboat over there and it looked a lot like that way back then.

You’re right.  That’s exactly what I thought too.

funny how docks don’t change appearance after 50+ years.

  3. As someone who is at Matt’s at least once a week for forever now, I gotta say, I’ve switched almost full-time to the skinny frozens.  The thought of potentially saving 30-40 calories for each of the five margs I usually consume is a refreshing feeling.

Sometimes I feel so good about myself I’ll go ahead and order a second Bob as a little pat the back for having such self-discipline.

  4. Same boat.  I...err...my neighbor, wants to add a bathroom to his house.  No changing of the home’s envelope, just replacing an existing oversized hallway closet with a bathroom taking it from a 4/2 to 4/3.

Assuming he can successfully dodge the permit inspectors who routinely canvas the neighborhood and it’s accurately disclosed down the road when it’s time to sell, between the months it takes to get a simple permit and the threat of taking the top off your homestead and exposing yourself to thousands more per year in outrageous taxes, it seems like the city purposefully incentivizes you not to pull permits.

So you think Baylor is gonna shoot the lights out like that every game? And based off the tourney then Arkansas was the second best team because they played Baylor the closest. One game of dominance doesn’t mean that’s how it would be if they played 7 times.

lol this cat watched his first basketball game ever last night

  6. Went to Dirty’s last week to get my dbl with cheese and chocolate milkshake fix.  They’re still closed with no sign of reopening anytime soon.  Really missing that place.

Along those same lines, Billy’s still hasn’t reopened their indoors and, as of this past week, doesn’t have any plans to.  I don’t get it?

I think of the Eddie Izzard bit about Chiropractors (no offense to any on here).  Whatever is wrong with the person and no matter what the x-rays say...back pain, diphtheria, your head has come off, you look your mother...we're gonna crack your bones.

That's the approach six years in by many council members and Mayor Adler.

Mental illness?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Addiction issues?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Drug abuse?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Nuisance camping causing blockages, harassment, assault, fires, and other crimes?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Lack of collaboration on the part of the City with State of Texas and Federal Government?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Lack of job training?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Failure to engage School of Social Work at the University of Texas?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

    Out-of-Control Cost-of-Living in Austin?  We're gonna buy a hotel.

Mayor Adler is a walking, talking felonious criminal and should be treated as the piece of human shit that he is.

Did you ever find out who Adler’s plane belonged to?

How is Ward doing with his new gig?

I miss his show but his new one made it nearly impossible to easily listen live or listen to full eps after-the-fact so I bailed.
