  1. Over a summer in the mid 70’s, I took 6 hours of electives at aggy….placing me squarely in the belly of the beast. This was a time when the powers that be at aggy were pushing female enrollment (aggy was 88% male in 1971 & 68% male in 1976). You’d think those idiots would be happy with more women on campus, but nooooooo. More women on campus would be a change and aggy >never< does well with change. Between classes, female students were accosted by male students yelling sexist slurs. “You whores shouldn’t be here. Take your fucking asses to t. u., You’re a bunch of cunts and nobody wants you here.” You name and they said it. And it happened every fucking day. It was living in an alternate reality. All I could think was, “ When I get back to Austin, they’re never gonna believe this shit.” Oh, yeah. A few of the girls were even more attractive than livestock.
  2. It’s been close to three months since I ended up in the ER. Have had no Lunesta since that time. For the first two weeks following the ER visit, I had nothing to drink. Then, I went back to the bottle. Alcohol has been a way for me to deal with chronic pain for decades….numbing me enough to sleep at night. Now, without access to sleeping pills and refusing to consider opioids, alcohol seemed my only option. Then, my doctor prescribed Duloxetine (a non-opioid) a week ago and I haven’t had a drink since. The Duloxetine helps mightily enabling me go to sleep and helping with the pain. Today was huge as my wife took a day trip out of town and I didn’t drink in her absence. So far, so good.

  7. PHOTO - Pravda — Kursk Oblast Compared to the 1943 Battle of Kursk—Because History Is a Great Marketing Tool (August 10, 2024) — Russia’s national anti-terrorism committee has declared the launch of "counter-terror operations" in Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk. Apparently, this is not just about securing the border; it’s also about the safety of Russian citizens who are now under the watchful eye of emergency powers. These powers include restricting civilian movement, seizing vehicles, eavesdropping on phone calls, establishing no-go zones and generally turning a border skirmish into a full scale dystopian reality show. The anti-terrorism committee has labeled Ukraine’s incursion a "terrorist attack," complete with claims of wounded civilians and destroyed homes. Of course, it’s always convenient to label anything unpleasant as terrorism—this tactic has been a staple of Kremlin playbooks since the days of the Soviet Union. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, however, has been vocal about the early successes of his troops. He insists that Russia needs to feel the sting of the full scale offensive it has been waging against Ukraine since February 2022. Meanwhile, the propaganda units of Russia’s defense ministry are trying to outdo themselves in a contest of who can produce the most dramatic war footage of tank crews blasting away at supposed Ukrainian positions in Kursk. Ever the dramatic storyteller, the Invasion Ministry already boasted about overnight air strikes and intercepting 26 Ukrainian drones, which sounds like a busy night in the Kremlin’s version of "Operation: Save Face."
  8. I can’t wait for Putin to have to start mobilizing Muscovites.
  9. And that didn’t go so well for the Argentinians. Just because you hand somebody a rifle it doesn’t make him a soldier.
  10. Now, Russia can do something with which they’re familiar. Retreating and burning their cities and villages on the way
  11. This guy right here is the answer to our short yardage issues.
