  1. The last two weeks in Houston have been record high levels of pollen. The rains have hopefully knocked this down for a few days. I’m living on over the counter allergy meds.
  2. Just watched the first three episodes- very good. Julian Fellowes is a master
  3. our GM at the press conference Our owner at the same press conference
  4. it should happen, but it becomes a numbers thing in D1. The problem is that D3 guys (and Ivy) pay their own way. I'm not paying another $110k so he can play another year of baseball....especially when he has a job offer in his back pocket.
  5. colleges dropping like flies. My son's team is a playing a non-conference game right now but four of their conference teams have now cancelled the season. I fear today is probably the last game of his career unless his coach can find some other teams to play. He's coming off a broken hand and hasn't pitched yet this year (cast off 10 days ago and I'm not even certain he's really cleared to pitch) but he told that coach the he is throwing at least one pitch in this game as its probably they last he will ever play. Hell I teared up just typing that
  6. cancelled my flight to ATL tomorrow and our week at our cabin in NC. Just too many things going on - not sure if son's college will shut down. Will take that week this summer when it's as hot at the surface of the sun in Houston. Delta support overloaded right now. Cancelled my flight and they charged me a ridiculous cancellation fee when their website clearly states all flights that are cancelled will be given a full credit for a future flight. Apparently you have to call customer service. The wait to speak a customer service agent is 4 hours.
  7. Icahn all in on firing that beech
  8. Ya, but most Ivy seniors probably already have a job lined up, so they can't do a fifth year. Also IF they get a fifth year (I've read the Ivy League is petitioning the NCAA to allow it), the family will still be out of pocket for another $100k of tuition since Ivy doesn't do athletic scholarships.
  9. Ivy League cancelled all spring sports. You know all those sports that are played outside by athletes in top physical shape, with just a few fans in attendance. Ya, those sports got cancelled. Seniors got royally screwed. I suspect the NCAA in a few days will either cancel all spring sports or ban all fans from attending. So get ready for Texas baseball games to be closed to fans.
  10. you probably have allergies. Your yellow pollen covered car should have told you.
  11. Flying to ATL as well on Friday so this hits close to home. I’ll be the one on the plane spraying everyone with a spray bottle filled with Tito’s Vodka (HEB sold out of Lysol)
  12. my son has taken over first base coaching duties this year with the broken hand. It has kept him involved and part of the team. He loves the team and I'm thrilled he decided to play D3. A lot of his former high school teammates who went D1 have stopped playing, but he's still chugging along and loving it. He lives with five other players and is super close with most of the team (a lot in the same fraternity as well). Couldn't really have asked for a better situation for him.
  13. I feel your pain - my son broke a metacarpal in his pitching hand the first week of fall workouts. He just got the cast off this week. Can start throwing in two weeks. Trying to salvage his last season of colege baseball.
  14. He's 6'8" 230lbs - weighs less than he did in high school. Not approaching CC territory anytime soon.
  15. ARod - "The number of games sadly comes as no surprise, as the deck has been stacked against me from day one," he said. "This is one man's decision, that was not put before a fair and impartial jury, does not involve me having failed a single drug test, is at odds with the facts and is inconsistent with the terms of the Joint Drug Agreement and the Basic Agreement, and relies on testimony and documents that would never have been allowed in any court in the United States because they are false and wholly unreliable. This injustice is MLB's first step toward abolishing guaranteed contracts in the 2016 bargaining round, instituting lifetime bans for single violations of drug policy, and further insulating its corrupt investigative program from any variety defense by accused players, or any variety of objective review." "I have been clear that I did not use performance enhancing substances as alleged in the notice of discipline, or violate the Basic Agreement or the Joint Drug Agreement in any manner, and in order to prove it I will take this fight to federal court. I am confident that when a Federal Judge reviews the entirety of the record, the hearsay testimony of a criminal whose own records demonstrate that he dealt drugs to minors, and the lack of credible evidence put forth by MLB, that the judge will find that the panel blatantly disregarded the law and facts, and will overturn the suspension. No player should have to go through what I have been dealing with, and I am exhausting all options to ensure not only that I get justice, but that players' contracts and rights are protected through the next round of bargaining, and that the MLB investigation and arbitration process cannot be used against others in the future the way it is currently being used to unjustly punish me. "I will continue to work hard to get back on the field and help the Yankees achieve the ultimate goal of winning another championship. I want to sincerely thank my family, all of my friends, and of course the fans and many of my fellow MLB players for the incredible support I received throughout this entire ordeal."
  16. Fish Bar - Anstruther Scotland Tailend - St. Andrews, Scotland
  17. yes - season 1 actually turned me into an F1 fan
  18. Beth Mowins - I will only watch a game she calls with the sound muted. Nails on a chalkboard
  19. he was a better recruiter than a football player. No tears
  20. looks like from the NFL site that today's bench press top performers had 25 reps....one was a punter. Micheal Turk - ASU
  21. add Whiting to the list of heading towards BK. I guess at this point the list of E&P heading to chapter 11 is longer than the list of those not heading in that direction.
  22. Ya but there's revolution everyday
  23. I think you will see a few more altercations at Minute Maid this year between fans. Opposing fans are going to pop-off and Astros fans are going to have enough of it and verbal altercations that move to pushing and shoving at a minimum will follow.
  24. Ya I would stay in downtown Fort Worth instead of Arlington. A lot better restaurants in Fort Worth and probably a better chance you won't get killed.
