  1. That looks like a good burger, but I don't understand why they would close for the season? Can't cook burgers in the winter?
  2. Found a pic of loco moco from pool burger in Austin.
  3. Back to the tipping question. We've got a deep sea charter this weekend that will have a captain and deckhand. Do we tip 20% to the captain AND 20% to the deckhand?
  4. Congratulations! I've got the same one. Did you get the wood chips to mix in with your pellets? I think it really helps with the smoke flavor.
  5. We've got a fishing charter booked for Saturday morning out of Fisherman's Wharf. Is there a good place for grab and go breakfast tacos between Rockport and Port A?
  6. KOKE FM and THE HORN are now streaming only. Don't look for them on terrestrial over-the-air radio frequencies. https://kokefm.com/2024/05/30/koke-fm-digital-transition/
  7. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/local/austin-radio-stations-koke-fm-the-horn-new-ownership/269-71cddb45-491b-4d26-a3ef-4f3e10cf2e3b AUSTIN, Texas — A pair of well-known Austin radio stations are set to get new ownership. Norsan Media, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based media company, reports that it has purchased Genuine Austin Radio, which operates KOKE-FM 99.3 and The Horn FM 101.9 FM and 1260 AM. Norsan Media specializes in content geared toward Hispanic and Spanish-speaking audiences, operating stations in the Carolinas, Florida and Texas. The company already operates La Raza 95.1 in Austin, which specializes in regional Mexican music. At the moment, it is unclear if the acquisition will impact the programming on either station – KOKE-FM currently airs country music and The Horn specializes in University of Texas-oriented sports content – or if it will impact any on-air talent at either station. The FCC still has to approve the sale before the acquisition is finalized.
  8. Wait. What? Flaming Bird does fajitas? I know what's for lunch tomorrow.
  9. Anyone have a recommendation for a sous vide immersion circulator?
  10. I too have this sharpener. It's a good one.
  11. I'm just now catching this. I like Camp Chef and have two of them. I bought the Persuit 20 almost two years ago and it has performed without a hitch. I got the Woodwind Pro 24 about 6 months ago and haven't had any problems. The woodwind is cool because it lets you burn wood chunks above the firepot for more smoke flavor!
  12. My grandma used to rinse plastic wrap and stick it to the side of the refrigerator to dry and re-use it later. I asked my folks why and they said she learned it during the great depression.
  13. What are you all using to vacuum and clean clean out your smokers? I'm using a 2 gallon wet/dry shop vac but wondering if there is a good portable cordless handheld unit that could get the job done. I figure It would need to have a crevice nozzle too.
  14. If the Bullseye has a 22 inch grill, maybe you could use a grate from a Weber 22" kettle grill?
  15. Who is "WE"? I'm all for AE trimming the trees.
  16. We had a nice breakfast at Marbucks before heading to Secret Beach. It was a good day.
  17. Just over a year ago I Picked up a Lone Star Grillz 20x36 pellet smoker. It's awesome but she's a beast, well over 400 pounds. I keep her in my storage shed and pull her out when I want to use her, and even with the 8" wheels its a chore to roll across the yard, so I'm thinking about downsizing. What's the market look like for a slightly used pellet smoker?
  18. Recommendations for a Fall fertilizer on my St Augustine in Austin?
  19. Has anyone tried Binchotan charcoal for grilling a steak. They say it burns really hot, but it's kinda pricey.
  20. Oh man Drifter!!! I know how you feel. I had a house fire in August 2018, it happened while I was at work my dog was able to get out of the house and survive because she had a doggie door and hung out in the backyard until the neighbors took her in. She still gets scared when she hears a loud beeping noise like a smoke detector. I live in North Austin and my place was a builder grade house built in 1975, so when it was rebuilt it was so wonderful to have a great new house with new windows, extra insulation and completely modernized. The 12 months that it took to rebuild were VERY stressful but Travelers insurance was great, and since then I've really enjoyed the new house. Good luck.
  21. I switched to B&B mesquite pellets and I feel it's been an improvement. Beef ribs from a couple weeks ago.
