  1. Oh wow Joffe does have a huge recruit- Adrienn Nagy (according to twitter). Top 30 Junior ranking (this is higher than Bianca's career high) BUT most importantly has big doubles results. Current Junior Australian Open and Orange Bowl doubles champion. Also a semifinalist at this year's French Open. Represented her country in Fed Cup. Currently competing at the US Junior Open. Mother was also a professional tennis player.
  2. Sigh..... Markovic transferred to Hawaii. Granic also missing from the roster. Don't know why. She gave an interview to a Croatian website just last month. https://www.slobodnadalmacija.hr/sport/tenis/clanak/id/613175/sad-se-zeli-okusati-i-na-wta-touru-splicanka-dosla-na-odmor-iz-sad-a-i-usput-postala-prvakinja-hrvatske If Google translate is working correctly, she was talking about playing the $15k tournaments in the fall when she got back and sounded excited to be finishing her marketing degree here. Let's hope there's some second semester freshmen Joffe is working to get over here.
  3. Rumor is he's going pro. Heard rumblings that he switched his commitment from TCU to Baylor because of the Baylor-Oracle connection allowing him to get WC's to a bunch of challengers. With >$100K prize money, top 300 rankings, and now the USTA teen poster boy, there should be no need of those Oracle WC's.
  4. Genie is just bad Berdych upset by the American teen
  5. Incoming Baylor Freshmen Jenson Brooksby just qualified for the main draw at the US Open
  6. Whitehead replaces Brett Masi who went to U$C. Rumor is that the old coach was also in on the admissions scandal at the school.
  7. It's only been last three, four years serving has been bad. Up til 2016, Texas had a pretty good ace to errors ratio and most of the serves weren't lollipops. The only bad regular server I can remember would have been Dalton.
  8. Yuya played in an ATP challenger last week. Beat a top 400 player and lost to the eventual champion (former top 50 player)
  9. Yuya snags doubles bronze at the World University Games in Italy Future freshmen Leighton Allen is featured on TennisRecruiting for winning Clay Nationals https://tennisrecruiting.net/article.asp?id=299870233 Fellow class member Evin McDonald placed third in the same event
  10. Bianca also at 367 in the WTA rankings Petra also won a national tournament in Croatia, also taking second in doubles earlier this month
  11. Congrats on the hardware!
  12. Another week and another doubles runner up for Anna (this time with an OU partner)! 😊 Both twins are also in their singles finals tomorrow. Bianca should have a new career high ranking regardless of the outcome of tomorrow's final.
  13. Anna just won a pro title with friend and Florida State player Touly in Tunisia! Also made semis in the singles. Bianca played in a higher tier tournament and also had a good showing
  14. That makes 12 (out of 20) Top 10 season ending rankings for Texas Athletics for the 2018-2019 year!
  15. Labrana loses in a super tiebreaker of the doubles final Currently, I think Labrana is the best non rising senior on the team
  16. Seeing that Gittens is not strong in the 800, the title is Zamzow's to lose
  17. ITA Kickoff draft happened with Florida State, Vanderbilt, and Indiana coming to Austin. A bit surprised that Texas was not picked early. With the loss of four starters, I'd have thought that teams would want to test the freshmen. Even though the class is highly recruited, transition to the college game can be tough. Teams that were picked early were Tennessee and Mississippi State. Teams that others avoided were Baylor and UNC.
  18. Summer updates- Labrana is in Mexico. So-so results so far in singles (has played three tournies). Just made the doubles finals so will be taking home some hardware. Will be facing against a Mexican team consisting of this year's Vandy Number 1 and Baylor Number 2 in the finals. Turatis are in the entry list for the later part of the month. Anna is signed up to play in Tunisia and Bianca will play a 25k in Italy. Also ITA kickoff weekend draft happened. Texas was the last site to fill up. LSU, Tech, and Iowa. Tech has some pretty good recruits coming in and I think they can beat LSU. Teams really picked on Kansas as being the 'weak link.' Understandable as they're losing four of their starting six.

If anybody wants to listen to Coach Dave O'Neal and here more about the insights about the program, here's a link http://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/d/a/a/daaf32c89b0d11f2/daveo_-_52319_3.26_PM.mp3?c_id=43225697&cs_id=43225697&expiration=1559536068&hwt=6d2185c2b09515f4362e84d2db0f9271
  20. https://247sports.com/college/texas/LongFormArticle/Texas-Longhorns-tennis-national-champions-Michael-Center-FBI-investigation-Lori-Laughlin-Felicity-Huffman-132366282/#132366282_3 A bit more inside information of what the tennis program has been going through the last 5 years. Still a bit incomplete as it glosses over the fact that the women's team had 3 coaches in the span of three years (actually 4 if we include the interim coach Klaic)

  22. Anybody want to @Chrisdelconte on twitter?
  23. He got fired from Michigan for lack of improved results. Kind of think he was like a Connie...would easily qualify for the NCAAs every year but no deep runs, no conference titles, and saw another school totally dominate the conference (to be fair Michigan was really poor before he was hired there) I feel that he should be fine. Presumably, he already has a working relationship to the loaded blue chip class next year. Also has another blue chip recruit for the class of 2020. Let's see if he can find another international player like Norrie to sign over these next few years. Two of his Michigan players are still on the pro circuit.
  24. Articles are coming out! Center finally makes a statement regarding the team (gives credit to former AC Rubio)- https://www.statesman.com/sports/20190521/bohls-deposed-coach-michael-center-ecstatic-for-texas-tennis-title National Paper- https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/21/sports/tennis/texas-longhorns-national-champions.html Local Wake Forest article (Coach says a bit of the heat and late SF finish played a role)- https://www.journalnow.com/sports/college/wfu/wake-forest-men-s-tennis-falls-to-texas-in-ncaa/article_21ed2952-acd8-50ed-8ef5-a1efece51a45.html
  25. Christian/Harrison lost in a close Super TB today...either way they will get All American Status for top 8 seed
