Well I guess I’m happy for Kemp, going to a potential playoff team over in the NL where I don’t have to root against him. Wonder if this means lower likelihood of Wheeler since the Mets supposedly wanted players who could help at the major league level right away.

Grienke is supposed to start the d-backs game against the Yankees in less than an hour.

I think the straight shooting Cole has done was to say “I’m not going to discuss it, you’re welcome to talk to my agent, Scott Boras, about it any time you want.” which effectively means he’s probably not re-signing with the Astros, so I’m also on board with the Greinke idea. Not as enthused about the Bumgarner possibility, although for a very cheap price I’d say it would be worth taking a shot.

I would love this- was wondering why he wasn’t coming up more in rumors, esp since there were rumblings for a while that the d-backs would be willing to send cash to offset that contract. Maybe the fact that there are 15 teams on his no-trade list has something to do with it. Just so happens that the Astros are not one of the 15 though...

Saying “at least” 12.5% of the time is not correct, as the percentage is the expected chance for the teams to be in the same pool, not a minimum. More like “on average” than “at least”. Of course, this is the percentage of time one would expect the champion to PLAY the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams. Of course they would have to beat the 2nd place and one of the 3rd/4th place teams, but your percentage is only the expected chance to be in the same pool as the other team. As sushi mentions in his reply, the champion could have also lost to this team or drawn with them in group play.

These occasional underhand serves by Kyrgios have been hilarious so far.

Full range of the Kyrgios experience on display already in this match. I’m hoping he can stay focused enough to avoid the meltdown, because it’s shaping up to be a great one. Couple of moments where it looked like he was teetering on the edge of a freakout, but he’s keeping it under control enough so far.

Lalas provides more annoyance per minute, but I will concede that Taylor “wins” on total shittiness accumulated per match.

Lalas is so fucking annoying, at least he’s only in studio and not involved in calling the actual game.

It was definitely a shot. Haven't seen any replays after the VAR review, but it looked to me like if there was a deflection, it was a glancing deflection as opposed to a full on redirect by the defender. Didn't seem like it would have affected the keeper's chances for a save, but I'm not sure since I wasn't able to watch it again. seems like the official scoring was always an OG from other comments here, and the coverage on Fox was just not correct initially, then reported it was "changed" to an own goal, instead of more truthfully saying something like "we incorrectly reported that it was a goal credited to Heath" anyway.
