  1. Yeah, WTF, I'm getting light rain mixed with tiny sleet
  2. Haven't been in a liquor store in a while, but what in god's name happened to whiskey? Fucking gimmicky, flavored shit is everywhere; peach, vanilla, honey, etc. That might be tolerable for something like a schnapps or a wine cooler, but whiskey? What reputable distiller of spirits would even entertain such an idea? The damage to your brand's reputation isn't worth whatever additional revenue it may bring in. Whiskey is supposed to taste like gasoline and charred wood, stop trying to fancy it up.
  3. I had to get a new PC with Windows 11, and it's been functionally OK but I'm not huge fan of the following (admittedly, mostly minor) things: > Had to create a Microsoft account to complete installation (there are workarounds easily found online, but the ones I tried failed for whatever reason.) > Right-click context menus only show you a few options (never the ones I need) and you have to click again on "show more options" to get the full menu to display. Rage. > Microsoft Edge has like 10 processes running even though I don't have it open. > Microsoft brought back Widgets but gives you no control over how to customize or kill the newsfeed part of it. More needless processes and bloat running in background. > Cosmetically, I think W11 is kind of ugly and toylike. I thought the same thing about W10. I liked the fancier desktop look of aero glass/Windows 7.
  4. Got boosted yesterday about noon (Moderna), late last night got really fatigued. Overnight and today sucked. Low fever, mild chills, aches & pains esp. in knees. Seems to be improving now though.
  5. How are the Broncos 4-4? Their defense stops everything cold and their offensive players never drop anything and get like 15 yards after contact every fucking time.
  6. I don't know exactly how much rain I got today but it was enough to demonstrate that my newly-replaced roof is leaking. I swear to $%&$# I want to strangle this roofer. (This is not the first problem; they did other shit badly that even though I know nothing about roofing, even I could see it wasn't right.)
  7. I don't know much about economics (I took Micro as an elective 30 years ago) but can you explain to me, in the simplest terms, how Fed policies make housing more expensive? When people buy homes, it seems to me that money is coming primarily from their wages, and in some cases inherited wealth. Have wages increased that much, and if so, is that really driven by the FR? Or do you mean the real estate market reacts to low interest rates by jacking up prices, because people buy based on monthly payment and not total cost?
  8. Cottage cheese. Specifically, the highly variable consistency of it. Even within a given brand like Borden's or HEB, sometimes it's a runny, soupy mess, and at other times it's a thick, congealed lump with the consistency of drywall mud.
  9. If they are successful, the "logical conclusion" is a quasi-fascist kleptocracy (think Putin's Russia) that can do whatever they want behind the cloak of the flag and the cross. They want to enrich themselves and their donors as much as possible, deconstruct American institutions or oversight mechanisms that might hinder their goals, and intimidate or eliminate marginalized groups. They want to ensure that whatever remains of American wealth is reserved for the right kind of people, and doesn't get "wasted" on government services or public assistance that the wrong kind of people depend on. They want to eliminate, destabilize, or at least "manage" the democratic process so they can continue to stay in power long after they lose the support of the majority.
  10. We had some big comebacks against OSU that probably weren't fun for them.
  11. In the early '90s I'm sure I ate at Players > 100 times. Loved those big shakes (the "medium" was huge and only cost $1.50). I don't know how I didn't gain a million pounds.
  12. Dallas really doesn't have a fullback or something who can reliably pound it for a half-yard or so, on critical short yardage plays? 3rd & 1, 4th & goal, etc should be automatic and it just kills me to see them unable to make those plays.
  13. I'd often wander by the Dobie Nikki's just before closing time and they'd sell you a slice for like 25 cents I think? Basically giving it away. Did that ever become a large-ish chain? Years later I saw a Nikki's Pizza in Victoria Mall and I wondered if it was related, but I didn't ask.
  14. This was an abortion on the field. Can I get that $10k bounty money if I report it?
  15. Is the IRS ever going to actually enforce the requirement that tax-exempt organizations like churches can't engage in political activities?
  16. I was at Dobie from '89-92, my recollection is that a standard double room was in the $5-6 K range (total for fall + spring semesters, with a meal plan). My last year I got a nice single corner room for about $7 K. As a returning resident I probably got some discounts that reduced the cost a little. I really liked Dobie, with the mall right underneath (Power Play, Dobie Theater etc.) plus amenities like their janky pool tables.
  17. I've only had YTTV for a month, and generally I like it. When I still had my DirecTV service, I did a pretty careful A/B comparison of picture quality of live TV over satellite and over YTTV and I came to the conclusion that YTTV video tends to be a little more compressed, although it varies network to network and event to event. I also echo what others said above about not being able to delete something from your DVR library. Also, it does take me about 5-7 seconds to change channels or switch from one stream to another--that may be related to my own internet speed and/or hardware (Roku). But it's much cheaper than DirecTV so I'm still pretty satisfied.
  18. ABC did a shit job with replays in this game. I know it's not MNF, but there were lots of mystery penalties and questionable spots that were never shown in replay.
  19. Any reports of significant hail with this? I literally just had a roof replacement done.
  20. I'm not sure if YTTV is specifically to blame here, from what I'm reading it seems like NBC/Comcast wants to charge more. In any case, they need to work this shit out because this just involves too many channels that I watch, and I just subscribed to YTTV a few weeks ago and I'd hate to bail on it so soon. And I don't know of any other (low-cost) provider that has a comparable "DVR" feature and the range of channels that YTTV has.
  21. Roofing contractors. Next time, at least buy me dinner first before you fuck me & my roof.
  22. I've never seen anyone hold a baitcasting style rod/reel like that. It's sideways.
  23. A little while ago it darkened up over my house quite a bit, but nothing is coming out of the sky.
  24. Even if the Rice and Kansas losses were "worse" I still haven't felt this bad after a high-profile game since probably the Miami Cotton Bowl.
  25. Fucking Colorado. Way to shit the bed.
