  1. I will agree with this. We just got back from Galveston and I will say Gaidos is the best beach restaurant I have ever been to on the Texas coast.
  2. People who eat with their mouth open and especially those who smack gum and pop bubbles. I will strangle you in a rage if you do it around me.
  3. Thank you for posting that. When my youngest son was born in 1988 we always watched the Playhouse. One of the great shows of all time and all of the Pee Wee movies were teriffic. Love Pee Wee and he sounds like such a great guy. He will be missed.
  4. You guys are all so young.... Here are a few by the "old" man on Surly. Ward Bond Elisha Cook Jr. Alan Hale Sr.
  5. Got home early a couple of days ago and caught The Longest Day again. A really good movie leading up to the invasion of Normandy. Very well done and the cast is unreal. The only movie I can think of with an all star cast as big as this is "Its A Mad Mad Mad Mad World".
  6. That was awesome. Thanks for posting it. What a special kid and great player he is. One of the greatest athletes to ever represent the University Of Texas.
  7. Man oh man..... I rarely listen to sports talk radio any more. I do listen sometimes in the morning during college football season but that is about it. Never understood why no one ever did a Sunday morning show to recap the previous day's college football games. Everything on Sunday is NFL only.
  8. I have made multiple Mississippi Pot Roasts and they are incredible.
  9. Sad........loved The Playhouse and watched it all of the time with my son.
  10. One of the things I like about term limits is that it keeps someone holding office from spending all of their time trying to get re-elected instead of doing things that matter.
  11. That is an awesome photo..... That ship has seen a lot of stuff.
  12. Made our Galveston trip a couple of weeks ago. Had not been there in probably 30 years. We did the NASA thing on the way down and enjoyed it very much. The tour of Mission Control where they put us in the observation room overlooking the control room and then did a re-creation of the Apollo moon landing was very cool. Rented a really cool house about 2 blocks from the seawall very close to Gaido's. Gaido's was absolutley incredible. Service was amazing and the food was off the charts. All three of our adult dinners we ordered had crab meat on top and it was the best crab meat I ever tasted. Mine was with jalapeno bacon wrapped shrimp. Amazing. Rented umbrellas and chairs each day so it was no hassle. Always found a free parking space on the seawall right where we were going to be sitting. Always went early though (around 9AM) Beach was in great shape as was the water. Visited the Pleasue Pier on Saturday night. It was fine but nothing to write home about. Grankids had fun which is all that mattered. Visited the Strand on our getaway day and it was pretty cool. Those old buildings and houses have a lot of history. Will definitely go back even though I am more of a Port A guy.
  13. Saw something on National Geographic recently about baboons and one of the things that stood out was that a 175 pound baboon has the strength of 7 men.
  14. The answer to all of your questions is money...............always.
  15. Went to the Belt Sander Races at The Gaff in PA years ago. Not sure what year but it was right around the time that bride ran off wearing a diaper so she would not have to stop for the bathroom. I know this beacuse one of the sanders was named the Runaway Bride and was wearing a veil.
