  1. What the fuck is this word salad supposed to mean? I asked why Hugo thought the optics were bad and so far I don't see that question answered. What about these optics make you think something improper is going on. As I pointed out, Kennedy's son left DB back in 09 during the real estate crash and started a REIT. So since 09 he's actually been competing with the Trumps. If there is a reason to suspect impropriety, put it forward. Playing 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon and replacing it with Russia innuendo is getting tiresome.
  2. Did he do something inappropriate? Looks like he left the firm in 2009.
  3. I quoted his "optics" comment in my original post. I asked him specifically what optics he was referencing because I am trying to understand what's wrong with the optics. I don't see the same thing he does and i'm trying to understand why that is. My response below. What is wrong with a bank lending money to a commercial real estate company? Is there something inappropriate about that? Is it not part of their normal day to day business? What is wrong with an 81 year old Republican SCOTUS judge retiring when a Republican is in office?
  4. It would be easier to summarize their position if they would actually provide one.
  5. What are these optics? DB lent money to Trump to build hotels. An 81 year old Republican SCOTUS judge decides to retire while a Republican President is in office. You need to fix your filter because your eyes aren't seeing 20/20 right now.
  6. Then I guess you aren't a genuine participant in this board.
  7. You aren't providing any facts. You are implying that there is something improper going on and unwilling to explain what that is.
  8. Such a fucking cop out. Defend your claim or shut the fuck up.
  9. Oh hey.. someone who is actually understanding what the fuck is going on in that article. Fantastic.
  10. Elaborate. If someone in Venezuela is selling toilet paper on the black market and needs to get that money to a bank in the USA, when does the money laundering take place and why?
  11. Again.. is there any evidence of wrong doing or are you pulling this out of your ass?
  12. Awesome.. Now we are throwing baseless accusations at supreme court justices.
  13. Laundering only matters for the country of origin where the crime is committed. It doesn't matter outside of that jurisdiction. If it was an oligarch, the money is already legitimate before it leaves Russia. No laundering is necessary.
  14. A better way of putting it is that you are ignorant about the topic but you got triggered because you saw the word "Trump". So your brain got busy trying to figure out a way this relationship could make him look bad.
  15. Why do people launder money? Which government was supposed to receive the taxes on that money? If these guys were committing crimes in Russia and getting their money out of the country, they weren't part of Putin's oligarch club because if they were, they wouldn't need to launder the money.
  16. Okay let's examine the story. So DB was helping Russian clients get their money away from Putin and we fined them for it. I would have figured we'd want to allow that money out of Russia so their economy would collapse and Putin would get fewer tax dollars.
  17. How many posters are reading through various posts counting words now? Talk about completely unhinged.
  18. Yeah that's a poor analogy because you have not established that any part of the relationship could be considered improper. You are implying something improper is going on and not explaining why that is the case. A commercial bank lending money to a real estate company is normal business. What about that specific loan would lead you to believe it was not a proper relationship? I am sure Trump was looking for the most favorable terms for his loan to increase his odds of success. All you need is one party willing to take the other side of the agreement and the loan occurs. The other "nefarious" aspect to this story is that a supreme court justice retired when the current president is of the same political affiliation. Is that collusion? Are Russians involved somehow? What am I missing?
  19. Care to be more specific? I've heard Goldman is bad but never heard that Deutsche Bank was doing anything improper. I've heard that the bank is failing and that it's important to Germany, but not that they were shady. It's also my understanding that they are one of the biggest banks in the world and that overlap would be pretty ridiculous if anyone and everyone that has ever done business with them is guilty by association. I think you have to be really careful with guilt by association in general. Everyone who has ever had a Netflix account should not be associated with child porn thanks to that story that broke yesterday for example.
  20. I was going to say the sad part was that even when you know you don't have anything, you still double down.
  21. Is it more or less likely that someone who has achieved the highest level of success in their career path(SCOTUS) have a child who is also successful? That seems normal to me. Does it seem odd that someone involved in commercial real estate would borrow money from Deutsche bank? I wouldn't expect it to be. What exactly do you think the function of a bank is? Occam's razor... A Republican justice wanted to retire when there was a Republican President in office.
  22. Seeing stories like this pop up is a sign the left has almost reached rock bottom. I never thought I'd see such a large group of people go through this level of cognitive dissonance over losing an election.
