  1. Haha. I did hear that this week. Typical Corby. That is a perfect example of something college football Corby would proclaim except Bob actually defers to him like he knows WTF he is talking about in the fall.
  2. I listen more to the HL in April and May (both live and on the sportsday app) than any other time of the year by far. I enjoy their Mavs/Stars segments and least amount of Cowboys talk of the year. Bob has good insight and Corby typically takes a back seat in actual hockey/NBA analysis (unlike CFB where he thinks he is WAY more knowledgeable than he actually is). Sidenote: Their segment this week interviewing the 2 21 year old Boston sports bros after game in Boston 1 is exactly what I imagine Boston poster Vertuzzi on this board to be.
  3. I mean let's not pretend Southwest really has any "culture" left at this point. Current management already destroyed that and their reputation over the last decade or so. Not sure new management could do much worse.
  4. I guess. But Austin has become a shittier Dallas. I lived in Austin in HS and college and moved to Dallas for law school (now 20+ years ago) and always assumed I would get back. Now wouldn't really consider it. All the bad parts of Dallas + way worse traffic + overpriced and now full of Californians. No thanks. I miss being closer to Texas sports but that's about it. I can find bits and pieces of the Austin I loved when I visit but it's largely gone and not coming back.
  5. Edmonton completely lost their composure last night. If they get down early game 3 it might be church.
  6. I think it's really this simple. It still may not be enough to win the series (as they will likely have a couple of hot shooting games as well), but if the rest of the team can start making open shots everything else will fall into place. Nobody on this team is playing with any confidence outside of Luka. We just don't look anything like the team that won the last 3 rounds (granted playing a better team).
  7. But I've got a feeling he's been alive for just as Many Celtics championships to date as Mavs championships.
  8. Bump. This is the most relevant Savannah thread I could find. Heading there for a few days with my wife later this summer (over 4th of July + weekend actually). Tentatively staying at Perry Lane. Any updated recs for those that have been recently?
  9. We have to somehow, someway get this 2-2 and make it a best of 3. Obviously easiest path would be to grab game 2 Sunday.
  10. Agreed the Air BNB issue needs to be solved at a local level. A ban was put in place in Dallas although believe it is still be litigated last I heard. I don't know whether likely inevitable regulation did it or it was the fact that the olds in my neighborhood probably called in every violation and otherwise made it miserable, but the one STR in my general area lasted about 18 months before they sold a few months ago. Which is a good thing. Because I'm 100% on board that STR's have absolutely zero business operating in residential neighborhoods. Vacation destinations or condos etc. in a city are one thing but it's bullshit in a neighborhood. I could probably make a lot more $$ on my rental (that is less than a mile away from my house) if I turned it into a STR but would never do that to the neighbors.
  11. Just know you will take a bath on most regular season games to the extent you want to sell. Particularly your Mon-Weds games early in the season or really at any point on a weekday if playing a shitty opponent without a big fanbase. It's good for playoffs though to not have to worry about tix and a nice discount to face. We decided to keep them again next year for convenience (we also got a discount next year as a returning season member compared to what new members pay). I'm actually about to update my spreadsheet to settle up games we sold with my seat partner. Can let you know the average we received for games sold when interested once I finish.
  12. Porzingis is great (when he's actually healthy) when he's effectively a role player on a deep team that can win without him so he doesn't feel pressure to lead/perform. He's a huge pussy in a true #2 role and will be again if anyone else wants to pay him that kind of money when he's a free agent.
  13. Cool Story Bro. The NBA general thread is that way. Or go start a Boston thread and talk to yourself. Nobody else gives a fuck about that city.
  14. Considering the relative quality of teams, I would say worst half of the playoffs was EASILY game 1 of the playoffs. I mean at least we scored more than 8 points in the 2nd quarter.
  15. This pretty much sums it up. I'm not taking too much away from game 1. Boston played out of their minds in the first quarter. Kyrie won't play that poorly again I would bet. It makes game 2 a bit bigger but we lost game 1 in '11 as well (and game 3 to go down 2-1).
  16. Would be interesting to see the financials. To your point, if only a couple of the locations are profitable, it could have been a strategy for corporate to pick those locations up on the cheap rather than work with existing ownership and allow closure of certain locations.
  17. Damn. That sucks. We certainly didn't go that often but when we did go to a movie we went to the Lake Highlands location. Kids will be disappointed. That shopping center made a huge turn pre-Covid but is now falling apart.
  18. These are the times we really need a beat writer like Saad Yousef to break it all down for us. He had a few good articles early last offseason including (if I recall correctly) a breakdown of why it made zero sense to buyout Suter last year but possibly could this year. If anyone finds any good articles please link. Clearly the top priority is defense. Tanev was a great fit if we can make the years and numbers work. Presumably Bichsel will be given an opportunity next year considering he was next man up for game 5 they must think he's closer than we previously thought he was. Suter gets a bad wrap but I think he had a solid year overall in his new role including the playoffs until the last few games. It's hard to blame him though considering we played so many games essentially rolling 5 D. He, like everyone, wore down. Of course, he's just getting older. Still, unless we have something bigger up our sleeve seems doubtful we buy him out? I'm ok letting Hak move on. Duchene is interesting. He was a good fit here (although, like others, had an underwhelming playoffs). I think he would like to stay given his interviews which seem genuine. I think it's all a question of whether his priority is maxing out contract or a good situation with a chance to win a cup. If the former it probably doesn't work and I definitely don't have a sense if there are other contenders that have a bigger need than we do (I think we clearly have to prioritize D). The fact that he got bought out might help but seems like he also clearly took the 1 year deal last year hoping to turn that into a better contract this year. Feels like more likely than not he's playing somewhere else next year. I'm good resigning Steel if we could get him cheap. We are clearly extending Harley. Are we giving up on Nils? What are they thinking about Dellandrea? Some stuff to be figured out for sure but we are in a much better place than most. In Nill we trust at this point.
  19. The garbage east is why it's hard for me to gauge at all. I've watched less Non-Mavs NBA than probably ever this season but especially the East. I watched some of the Knicks series and some of the close games with Boston and Indiana but that's about it. Just zero interest in eastern conference basketball considering it was a foregone conclusion who would win. I feel like the Mavs are rightful dogs but definitely a path to winning. Basically the same way I felt about the 2011 series. We have absolutely zero idea how Boston will play with actual adversity. Need to get a series lead and see if they panic/press.
  20. Really sucks we couldn't win it for Joe. More often than not you just don't get the storybook ending. Just a massive benefit to this franchise on and off the ice. There was a great ESPN article I read yesterday on Joe that really illustrated that.
  21. Florida was the best I've seen live. We played pretty much a perfect 2 periods of hockey (and should have scored more) but then Florida turned it on in the 3rd and won it. They were always the team I was hoping to avoid in the finals if we made it. So yeah, I tend to agree with you.
  22. I think Otter is absolutely good enough to win the cup. He played fine this past series considering who he was up against. There were probably only 2-3 goals the entire series he probably wants back. It was our special teams play and D at times that really fucked us. Most of their goals were no doubters. Outside of Robo's hat trick game nobody really stepped up offensively. We scored what - 12 non empty net goals in 6 games? That flat out doesn't cut it. I'll be surprised if Pavs doesn't retire. Duchene is interesting because he was great for most of the season but didn't do much down the stretch or in the playoffs (besides the game winner against the Avs obviously). I just have no idea what his expectations are in free agency. Does he want to max out $$ and years? If so that probably isn't with Dallas. His best pure $$ option might not be with a real contender. There is a number where I think he works for us but not sure that number works for him considering we have more pressing needs. Tanev is obviously the biggest need but of course his Agent knows that as well. Offseason will be interesting but that is probably a different thread. But we are in a much better position starting off than most of our competition.
  23. I don't know how we shift this pattern out of DFW area to down south. Looks like we have more headed our way later this afternoon. Just ridiculous at this point.
  24. 100%. DFW big game ticket market is such a winners town and massively impacted by momentum. Best example of this was game 5 of the ALCS last year after we had lost 2 straight. Still 2-2 and a huge game and I took a massive loss selling my extras. In 2011, I recall having like $900 in cash for game 3 of the finals (after winning game 2 in Miami) and my wife and I couldn't sniff even terrible seats so watched at a bar. Then, for game 4 (after losing game 3) we bought center court uppers in the 2nd row for like $350 each. I had already gotten lucky with a great lower single from the presale for game 5 (which was before the Mavs figured out they should be charging "market" and not "face" value. Where this ticket market lands is 100% dependent on how prior games go. I think market dips a bit regardless for first 2 home games. The only sure thing for an absolutely insane ticket market would be Mavs having a chance to clinch at home.
  25. Left it all on the ice tonight. Nobody can question their character that's for sure. Completely outplayed them but just couldn't finish. Which is really the story of the playoffs. Sometimes it really is about peaking at the right time and we just couldn't score goals. Hurts mainly because this is probably the best team we've had in 25 years and that's it for several of these guys, but still a great run and great team. We'll get back.
