  1. Yes. If you believe the recent reporting of Bernstein, people within the party have been trying to ring the alarm bell for the past 18 months and there has been significant cognitive decline in particular within the past 6 months. Given the debate performance that seems pretty valid. So yes, I think the D inner circle/power brokers that were actually aware of this should have made the move months ago. At the least, they never should have allowed him on a debate stage. If it comes out that it really was Biden's stubbornness/failure to accept reality (whether in regards to running or with respect to doing the debate), this election is on everyone that enabled him or were too afraid to tell an old man no (even if he is the President). To be clear, I was supportive of the debate because I thought it gave him the chance to prove everyone wrong. I had no idea he had declined as much as he obviously had. The people in the room with him absolutely had to know and know the risk. Absolute incompetence.
  2. I thought everyone is saying that big ass heat dome would keep it south
  3. This is just wrong. When Biden inevitably loses this election, this debate will forever be discussed as the turning point and every decision the inner circle of the party made in the 18 months leading up to it and after will be debated. The debate convinced the vast majority of Biden voters that Biden is flat out unfit to be President for another term. Full Stop. The result will be a bunch of those in the category of "reluctant" Biden Voters or pure Anti-Trump voters to sit it out or vote 3rd party. Because the reality is neither of these candidates have any business being President. The competent American public recognizes what a ridiculous choice it is and the reality is many will just throw their hands in the air and say fuck it, wake me up in 4 years. The margins were slim to begin with but relying on the non R voting public to actually make an effort to vote on the basis that an essentially incapacitated Biden is still better than Trump is not a winning strategy.
  4. Yeah, fuck risking that.
  5. It's a good thing Nill has built up a lot of good will because otherwise I would be motherfucking today. Great value on Duchene only to make several WTF moves. Like Tiffin wrote, I would probably be pissed if I were Duchene to take a big discount only to watch extra money go to players that have proven to be sub-par.
  6. Sorry to break it to you but according to some of the mensa candidates on this board this makes you a fascist.

    USMNT 2024

I'll never understand how international soccer has such god awful officiating. What a joke.
  8. The key phrase was "in an alternate universe". Meaning an alternate universe where someone like Romney is the Republican nominee. In that alternate universe, the Republican party is not a lost cause and a threat to democracy. Instead, we have the party of Trump which doesn't remotely resemble the Republican party pre-Trump.
  9. He was relatively fine in 2020 and I think at the time the best shot at beating Trump. Look at debate footage from 2020 compared to last night. It is night and day. I mean it's not surprising to see that level of cognitive decline. He's old and it is natural. But do we really think signs weren't there to his inner circle for the past 18 months?
  10. I'll reluctantly vote for Biden only because it's Trump. I would have voted for Haley or certainly a Romney over this version of Biden in an alternate universe. I don't think Biden is fit for another term after the debate debacle. I'm voting for him solely because his "team" has done a decent job but another term would basically be the equivalent Otto and Alicent running everything for Viserys at the end of Season 1 of House of the Dragon (for those that watched). The Republican party is a lost cause and a threat to democracy. I'm critical of the Dems because it was up to them to strategize a way to keep power and it appears they have blown it.
  11. Someone should be working overtime to convince him and frankly to convince Newsome to risk what is probably a much easier path in '28. It's a terrible situation but it's the hand they were dealt by not making a tough decision 18 months ago (assuming this steep decline was recognized within his inner circle). As it stands now, Trump is going to win barring a miracle (death, incapacity or somehow an even worse cognitive decline moment).
  12. When you have your meltdown on election night wondering how the F this happened, just don't forget those you label a 'fascist' for having the audacity to tell you it was going to happen if he's not replaced. Douchebag.
  13. JFC this board gets dumber by the day.
  14. LOL. Alright, someone smarter than I am is going to have to break all this down for me.
  15. Got to say I'm pretty underwhelmed. Going to go over to the Mavs thread instead where maybe some better vibes LOL.
  16. Dumba. LOL. I'm sure that will go over well.
  17. Seems fine to me. Not the time/year to spend meaningful $$ on backup goalies. I saw that Wedge will sign with Preds but haven't seen contract terms yet.
  18. I'm certainly not tied in to the Preds or their plans but I kind of assumed they were in rebuild/reset mode after buyouts last year. Then they sign 2 guys that are 33 and 34 respectively to long term deals? They still have to have a ton of dead cap space. I may need to have to search out an Nashville insider article on a plane later this week to figure out what I'm missing because those feel like "win now" signings.
  19. Too many Cloak Room regulars still whistling past the graveyard. Much like Trump, Biden is flat out not fit for office. Certainly not another 4 year term. The decline has been significant. The clear result for those that think neither is fit for office is more votes for RFK or people just not showing up. I don't think Biden can recover.
  20. Fantastic value on the Duchene contract. It obviously helps he is still getting paid by Nashville. But clearly shows all the stuff he said about really liking it in Dallas and wanting to stay wasn't just lip service. Obviously glad we didn't match that Tanev offer. Just too long a window to be dealing with an inevitable buyout in 3-4 years. Will be interesting to see what else we get done on D. Looking like we may very well end up hoping our offense can carry us to the trade deadline and putting pieces together for a run at that time.
  21. CNN Polls: 67% Trump won debate. 57% say no confidence Biden can lead the country. Ouch.
  22. The point Rubio just made is the point the R's should be making to target the independent/undecided vote. He basically said he takes no happiness from it but it was clear that the President struggled tonight and it concerns him what they might think about that in Beijing and Tehran. Sadly he's right. I'll still vote for Biden purely because of the threat to democracy that Trump poses but Biden has absolutely no business being president 4 more years. If pretty much any R candidate other than Trump was running I would be strongly considering flipping that vote
  23. Americans are stupid. They are too stupid to understand reasons for it. They just understand everything costs more and Biden is president. That's it. Full stop. This board that debates issues and world events does not represent the voting public. They are morons.
  24. This is just wrong. Biden's age/competence is THE ISSUE in this election. If Biden was 20 years younger he wins this in a landslide. He's not. He's old AF. This reinforced (beyond anything the R's could have ever hoped for) their position that he is unfit for office. Full stop. I don't think he can recover from it. The worst clips from tonight will be played over and over and over again the next 4+ months.
