  1. Don't think we play them again this year unless we match up in the playoffs.
  2. Yeah, I mean it's only the prospects for the entire season riding on it LOL. Best case scenario is probably miss games until the break and miss the 4 nations then get back healthy. I would take that all day.
  3. I saw some twitter doc say looked like an isolated MCL injury and could be day to day or week to week and tear possible but not likely. Hoping for the best.
  4. Skipper replied to C-Man's topic in Dallas
Agreed. I didn't think it would last 18 months. People that invest in places like that continue to just completely misunderstand the Dallas market. They somehow assume the "trendy" Dallas stereotype is sufficient to compete and grab market share from the numerous established high end steakhouses. I don't know a single person that ever ate there. My steak rotation is pretty much Al B's and Del Frisco's with the occasional Nick and Sam's or Bob's (although has been 2+ years since I've been to either of those). I'm not surprised about Morton's either. I always assumed they somewhat relied on business lunches or weekday business happy hours/dinners from Crescent and surrounding offices our visitors staying nearby rather than 'big night out' Friday/Saturday nights (which I assume is significantly more lucrative).
  5. I actually noticed it the last game I attended and was curious about this. I was also at that December Nashville game he speculates caused it and can confirm it was a whip hearing that song 3X in like a 2 or 3 minute stretch.
  6. Skipper replied to Derka's topic in Basketball
Hey @Rex Kramer - care to revisit your prediction that Tre would be a JAG at the college level from several years back
  7. That might have been the best stretch out of Otter I've seen since '22 Calgary series.
  8. Of course it was. But there is no way Corby is leading off with that and specifically crediting Knowles (rather than, you know, the 5 star talent/new portal additions across the board giving OSU the best defensive roster in football) if it wasn't for the Knowles/OU rumors. It was the first fucking thing he asked Klatt and specifically tied it to how great of a coach Knowles is. It was typical OU superfan Corby doing Corby things hoping to set himself up for a big OU/Knowles segment this week.
  9. Anyone else notice on the Joel Klatt segment this week how Corby drove discussion about how great Jim Knowles is and how he is the real reason for OSU's success, etc.? I'm sure that had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the OU message boards are convinced they are hiring Knowles as their DC (something about fiance living in Oklahoma). It was beyond obvious he's setting it up so he can talk about what an elite hire it is if it happens. Corby is such a transparent douchebag.
  10. After quitting fantasy football (so no gambling aspect) I've barely watched any regular season NFL over past 3 years. But I'll watch college football all day Saturday when free (and not attending a Texas game). As one way or another a lot of the games indirectly impact Texas so you can find a rooting interest, and even those that don't, because of the fact that it's not a 'better product,' we are much more likely to get crazy endings, comebacks, etc. Now I'll watch the NFL playoffs because I do still enjoy really good football with something on the line. But I don't have any rooting interest and NFL fans are largely complete fucking losers (so in that sense I enjoy watching just about every team lose), so absent a good 4th quarter game when I happen to be flipping channels on a regular season Sunday, or absent flipping on a game and seeing a former Texas player playing and watching for that sole aspect, I just have better things to do (particularly after usually watching a ton of football on Saturday).
  11. Well I hadn't read any of this before posting but apparently there was a symposium held discussing this and a recent article (even if written by idiot Dan Wolken). Probably only a matter of time before it is challenged again by someone. Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith ready for NFL now, should challenge rule
  12. Smith would be a good test case for challenging the Clarett lawsuit from years back (would have to go back and re-educate myself as to how that all played out but clearly a different dynamic these days which might lead to a new avenue for a legal challenge). He's physically gifted enough to play and make more in the NFL next year (not to mention start the clock for his 2nd contract) than anyone will realistically be able to pay in college unless someone wants to create an insane pay disparity dynamic as CTJ noted.
  13. We talked about this in the ticket thread, but yes, the new model of playing championship games in smallish NFL stadiums (albeit with elite amenities which I'm sure is what the big wigs in the CFP committee and administrators like) is killing the 'get in' price for fans. Prices for ND/Ohio State were pretty crazy (believe about a $5K for shitty uppers day of game) and Atlanta seats about $6K more than Vegas I believe.
  14. Can't really put myself in the shoes of an individual writing 6 or 7 figure NIL checks, but I would like to think that if I just contributed that kind of $$ and was actually rewarded with a championship, I would be more likely to be content and pull back rather than double or triple down in an attempt to run it back appreciating how hard they are to win. Of course, I guess they still have the whole MIchigan problem which might drive them just as much if not more than winning titles.
  15. No hard at all when the best WR corp in the country is left in man coverage across the board with no safety help. Way too fucking aggressive of a defensive call on 3rd and 11. Great ball though.
  16. Notre Dame just way too aggressive with that blitz call.
  17. Feel like I'm watching a Texas 2nd half right now. Ohio State should have won this by 4TD's and fucked around.
  18. I think the technical legal dispute is whether it's an enforceable contract given that it is conditioned on the house settlement which hasn't happened. Don't think anyone can really weigh in without seeing the contract terms. But that aside, to the extent we assume it is an enforceable contract, I'm team Wisconsin here. If these players want to essentially be treated essentially like professional athletes (and despite what NIL is intended to be, it's obvious that is what their goal is) then they need to understand contracts mean something and are a 2 way street. And if you sign a 2 year deal, another team can't just come over the top and allow you to tear up the paper. If you want an out, negotiate for it (i.e., termination/buyout provisions). And I think we all appreciate there is some level of tampering from lots of schools via agents but if Miami is doing it at an egregious level with blatant disregard for pre-existing contractual relationships, then fuck Miami and I'm glad they are getting called out. It's probably inevitable we get to some kind of CBA eventually and disputes like this will only accelerate that.
  19. My 8 year old son got to be the "stick kid" at the game last night. We went down outside locker room and he got to give the team fist bumps as they came out for warmups, watch warmups from down on the ice, and then Sam Steel signed a stick he got to bring home. Upon closer look it's an old Esa Lindell stick. Was a badass experience and he's still on cloud 9 this AM. It was one of the season ticket holder experience options I signed up for it as soon as it went live. Stars did a great job with the entire thing making him feel important. Really great marketing for them both from a season ticket holder perspective and ensuring young fans for life. He's a huge Sam Steel fan now.
  20. Regardless of the farce that NIL is (which I agree), it is in theory tied to fucking value of your name image and likeness. Which is zero for a bunch of athletes in non-revenue producing sports. I'll dive into the legal arguments once we inevitably get there, but it's absolutely stretch to tie this to Title IX financial assistance, and yeah, I'm sorry, this would only come from a democrat DOE
  21. Not sure where else to put this and sports related but don't want to cloak room up the NIL thread. But the idiotic DOE policy position on Title IX is the kind of dumb shit democrats constantly do that gets people like Trump elected. Taking the position that post settlement funds that schools can pay athletes as NIL is actually "financial assistance" subject to Title IX is so mind numbingly idiotic it's hard to wrap my arms around. Sure DOE, a fucking scholarship rower nobody has or will ever hear of (that is already a material revenue loss due to Title IX) should be paid "equal" to Collin Simmons and the like in fucking "NIL". So fucking stupid and a massive unforced error at the end of the Biden Administration that would literally destroy athletic departments across the country if actually implemented and cost hundreds of female scholarships. This is just the kind of unnecessary 'woke' shit with no basis in reality that liberals in govt positions push through that make headlines and constantly make it harder for D's than it should be as it relates to your average American that has a lick of common sense.
  22. I saw Cruz came out with a strong statement against this idiocy. No CR but probably one of the few things I 100% agree with. This policy by the DOE is a completely unforced error that makes anyone paying attention on this issue assume they are incompetent as it relates to everything else.
  23. Making this a paid service is an interesting strategy that I don't think will go well. Obviously the Stars don't have the same following (or the same level of TV revenue to replace) but I remember when Victory + was announced the stars rep talked about how they discussed and thought it was important to keep it free vs. even a nominal amount in order to build/keep the fanbase engaged. I'll probably end up paying it but I bet a lot of people won't on principle and I don't blame them. Unfortunately for the Rangers and everyone else that were locked into Bally's, a shit ton of fanbases got used to dealing with just watching national games over the past few years.
  24. I don't think I've had any app issues since maybe opening night. Roku here.
