  1. Fun game last night. Miro and Miko in particular played their asses off which is what you need from your 2 best players. I'm pretty impressed how we've treaded water and racked up solid points with all the injuries the last 2 weeks. Hopefully can start getting healthy soon.
  2. Good link. Klatt's initial takeaways were almost exactly the same as mine. #1 Texas certainly alive at 9-3 (as would OU if they were to somehow beat Bama for example) and #2, the Big 12 in a good position to get 2 teams in given placement of Utah. The latter is what everyone is going to be talking about next week. Utah's only losses are Tech and BYU. So absent a blowout this week, the Committee almost has to slot the loser of Tech/BYU above Utah given H2H. Keep an eye on that as other 2 loss teams rise and they probably have to eventually slot them above Utah and the outcry that would come from that (or a potential 3 loss Texas or OU). Utah is high but really no games left on schedule that will impress anyone. If I were on the committee - I probably would have pushed to slot Utah a bit lower for that issue alone as they will get a lot of grief if Utah wins out and they move teams ahead of them. And I know they do this for ratings and so all the talk shows have content to talk about all week but really would be better if they waited another 1-2 weeks to get a bit more data.
  3. I guess I just disagree either is the "lesser of". Disney/ESPN is almost certainly the most valuable 'bundled' property on the YTTV platform considering other streamers (NFLX, Max, etc.) now completely dominate TV and movies. I would say over 80% of our family usage of YTTV is live sports or ABC (which we watch for local news, etc.). My kids watch almost all their shows on other services. My wife watches a handful of Bravo. We might watch cable news a handful of times per year if a big event. That's really it. Google offering a $20 credit for Disney IMO flat out proves it was previously significantly mispriced. It wouldn't surprise me if Disney is taking the position that YTTV should be paying Disney a premium over what their direct subscription would cost as a way to get others to pay for all the other shit on YTTV that nobody watches and they are probably correct.
  4. LOL. Let's not pretend Google is innocent here. Both just trying to maximize their respective profits. I'm old enough to remember when it was the same song and dance with Fox leading up to the OSU game in August (although they resolved it at the last minute). The reality is that in the streaming era live sports are, by far, the most valuable inventory as they still demand a premium for advertising. The cost for those rights are only going up. Hell Disney probably underpaid for SEC broadcast rights looking at ratings this year (when people thought they probably overpaid in 2000). It's just a completely different market than 20 years ago when live sports didn't hold near the value they do now.
  5. I mean that doesn't take into account increased non-YTTV revenue for people that have switched services until this is resolved (raises hand).
  6. The Winter Classic was awesome but we also got pretty damn lucky with the weather so I'm not surprised the NHL wanted to take the elements somewhat off the table for a late February game (unless of course there is an ice storm and nobody can get to Arlington). It won't be near as cool as the Winter Classic was but I'll almost certainly attend. Interesting game tonight. Stars an absolute mash unit potentially running 11/7 + Otter on Paternity leave and Oil is on back end of a road B2B after losing last night @ STL.
  7. Well yeah, I agree. But if we do end up losing the UGA, the season isn't really "over" which will probably be the initial reaction if that were to happen. UGA is definitely beatable. Hopefully we can get somewhat healthy with the bye.
  8. Everyone (national media in particular) assuming at this point Texas has to win out in order to make the playoff and, yeah, may not be the case. I think a 9-3 Texas team will have a really strong argument. Particularly if OSU wins out. Because if it does come down to Texas and a 2 loss Big 12 team that didn't schedule anyone out of conference, why in the world are teams scheduling tough OOC (which the networks desperately need to happen). Obviously a lot of it will depend how other games shake out (and how strong the OU and Vandy wins hold up). We actually need Vandy to only win 2 of their next 3 particularly after the ref manufactured comeback.
  9. Arch played his ass off today. Fantastic game.
  10. We need to get healthy in the Secondary. Taaffe covers up a lot of the mistakes today. But I was never a fan of the Akina hire and nothing I've seen this season makes me think I was wrong.
  11. When my client from Atlanta that is a Georgia Tech fan that has no rooting interest in the game sends me 5 text messages regarding the awful officiating in the 2nd half you know it's bad.
  12. That's got to be a top 5 worst officiated Texas game I've seen. Worst in a long time. What a fucking disgrace that was.
  13. He just mishit that kick in the Cotton Bowl. He has the leg for 58 but certainly not a high percentage play + increased block risk. Not an easy decision as it's a disaster if it gets blocked.
  14. Really missing Taaffe today
  15. Surly Usual Suspect Game Thread and/or Arch thread commentary/analysis prediction for post-game tomorrow: Caldwell Starts, Loses: Fuck Sark. Please leave for the NFL. Too much of a pussy to play a healthy Manning because of Woke optics and it cost us the season. Caldwell Starts, Wins: Caldwell Should Starts! Sark is such a fucking moron. We would clearly be a 1 loss top 5 team if he hadn't promised Manning the starting job and played the best available after OSU. Manning Starts, gets re-injured: Sark should be fired FOR CAUSE immediately for playing a clearly concussed player. No buyout. Get the lawyers on it. Manning Starts, Loses: Sark is a moron. Playing a clearly injured Manning cost us the season. Please leave for the NFL. Manning Starts, Wins: Half of Surly finds 10 different things to bitch about and are miserable in victory regardless. Half of Surly is convinced we don't lose another game until Fall 2027 (at the earliest).
  16. I didn't even know what f'n Disney bundle we have. Apparently the subscription is "Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Legacy". I can go to "Live"in my Disney App now and watch ABC News. But if I go to "Upcoming" I don't see Texas/Vandy. Would I need to change to the "ESPN Unlimited" bundle? Is that right?
  17. So I need all the major networks/sports channels, bravo for wife, and would prefer to have locals for news. Eventually will need TNT/TBS for NCAA tourney/NHL playoffs assuming they still have those rights. Anyone know best current options.
  18. North of 635 might as well be Canada! I never venture up that way (other than to get Cattleack BBQ, which is an entirely acceptable reason to venture north).
  19. Anyone been to Avra in the Crescent? I think relatively new. Walked by it the other night and it looked interesting for a date night.
  20. This Stars/Mavs/AAC is an absolute mess. And seems like the City of Dallas is taking sides and are completely fucking this up if choosing the Adelsons. The City of Dallas Has No Choice But to Work Things Out With the Mavericks - D Magazine I'm not sure if the Stars are innocent here either (as it's not going to surprise me if it comes out they wanted to move to the f'n burbs) but I'm just going to choose to believe the Mavs new ownership are the assholes in this situation as well as it certainly fits with everything else we've seen . It's amazing how much I've gone from a huge Mavs fan to essentially rooting for the franchise's failure. At first it was until Nico was fired but maybe that won't change until (if ever) there is new ownership. But yeah, the Stars moving North would be really depressing. Immediate cancellation of season tix and wouldn't make near as many games. And the City of Dallas screwing everything up and ending up without a single franchise that actually plays within the city limits would be par for the course.
  21. Which is why I think, as long as the game is close, when we're in 3rd and 8+ you see screens, draws, etc. rather than trusting him to throw intermediate routes into coverage.
  22. I said it in another thread but I'm optimistic that if Sark knows what Caldwell does well and can put together a game plan with a small playbook he can hold up 1 week. There isn't really any film on him. But yeah, I don't have much faith at all he could hold up long term at all. There isn't anything in his past that says this guy is ready to dice up complex coverage schemes and hit his 3rd read. I fully expect to see ultra conservative play calls on 3rd and long (and for this board to be screaming about it not understanding it's intentional). Someone posted a twitter video with all his passes/runs and think I recall one of his only throws into coverage in mop up duty would have been picked against a P4 secondary.
  23. I think you could simplify this by just stating "Sark is coaching college players". Because I see the same shit with damn near every team I watch. It just pisses us off more because it's our team fucking up. Drops and underthrows more of a problem this year than last for sure. Of course, UGA dropped more passes last year than damn near any "good" team I've ever seen but still won the SEC.
  24. I don't think things would go well if we had to rely on him for the rest of the season but hopeful in a 1 game situation where there isn't any meaningful film on him and playing against a decent (but not great) defense + full week of practice, we can put together a game plan with things that he does well. I expect to see some pretty conservative play calls on 3rd and long (as long as we aren't playing from behind) as doubt we trust decision making in obvious passing downs.
