  1. The ever rare 6-1 defeat where we outplayed them (60.5% win percentage in the "deserve to win o'meter"). 2-1 after 3 is probably the right result as Edmonton probably deserved game 1. I haven't read the rest of this thread since logging off pregame Friday, but the right time for retaliation was the last 5 minutes of game 2 and I'm still pissed we didn't do it. It would have been tough for the league to suspend one of our players and not Nurse. Now we are down 2-1 and don't have any margin for error or time for that bullshit. Pretty much have to win tomorrow night as I don't think we can pull off 3 straight. If Skinner plays like that maybe not much we can do, but we are running into the exact same issue we had last year in the playoffs which is flat out inability to finish. Rantanen/Duchene/Robo/Johnston flat out have to score goals. It's pretty simple. 2 goals on 33 high danger chances this series isn't going to cut it.
  2. How early is too early to start pregaming? Asking for a friend.
  3. I felt like we were still trying to play the Winnipeg series the first 2 periods of the game and just weren't ready for Edmonton's speed. Of course, it's impossible to be ready for McDavid's speed, but they just play a completely different game. 3rd period was insane and it's crazy how one team can just grab momentum and run with it (Oil in the 2nd and Stars in the 3rd). Great to get a win when we were thoroughly outplayed the first 2 periods and also great to flip the special teams after last years WCF. What a crazy 3rd period. At intermission we were talking and I just wanted to play better and didn't see us coming back but was hoping to look competitive and play better to ramp up to game 2. Never saw that coming. You all will be happy to know though my buddy and I switched seats before the 3rd after keeping the seats the entire jets series (last switching before Colorado game 7 third) so that is clearly what they needed.
  4. Who sits between Lyubushkin and Petro will be interesting. Lyubushkin obviously started in regular season and has played more minutes than Petro but they may value Bischel comfort level playing with Petro. However they decide tonight, I could see that toggle based on performance.
  5. Interested what Pete does with our lineup tonight. I didn't see any reporting on that front from morning skate although have been a bit tied up today. Did I miss?
  6. All I know about Canadian TV is "Hockey Night in Canada" on Saturday night so don't think there will be any more Saturday matinees scheduled going forward. We got that window last Saturday obviously and will for game 6 (if necessary) as well.
  7. NBA game that night but no hockey. I would think 3PM or 3:30 Central would be prime afternoon spot to maximize ratings, but probably doesn't matter much. Personally displeased as going to have to rush back from kids sports and might miss puck drop unless they do like a 20 minute pregame (which is probably the case so I may make it home in any event)
  8. I'm sure neither team thrilled about it. That's a quick turnaround after a Friday night game with a long ass Saturday flight. I assumed there was an NBA game after they were prioritizing, but looked it up and followed by a fucking WNBA game, so it is some bullshit not to push it a couple of hours. Oh well, gives their fans less time to get boozed up.
  9. Hell no. I want no part of this doucebag fucking up our home ice mojo.
  10. I think the reason for the Stars Weds start is that ESPN gets first pick to air either the Western Conference or Eastern Conference finals under the TV rights deal and they chose the West this year. I'm guessing either the NBA was already slotted for a Tuesday start OR it somehow otherwise worked out best for them, because ESPN chose the series and the start date. So good for us! AAC actually had to move a Katy Perry concert that was supposed to be Weds night apparently.
  11. I don't know if we'll win but I'll take this roster over last years for sure and I still think last year we were at least equal than Edmonton and just ran out of gas. We lost Tanev but Harley is now a flat out superstar. His game has dramatically improved year over year. Bischel is showing the playoffs aren't too big for him with the limited minutes he plays and brings a physical approach we need. With a now healthy Miro I like our blue line over last year even without Tanev. Do you all recall essentially going 5 D rounds 2 and 3 last year as they couldn't trust Nils? On offense, all we did is add a superstar + Granlund (who has been a very underrated trade acquisition even before his hat trick). Benn is getting older and slower but not near the decline we saw from Pavelski last year that actively hurt us. We've yet to really see either of Robo (should be pretty healthy now I would think) or Duchene get going. Given the layoff (thanks ESPN for choosing our series and giving us the extra day of rest) + minutes Miro was able to play last game, I would think we go back to a traditional 6D lineup and roll 4 lines. I fully expect this series to be a war and Edmonton has been on a 9 game heater but I like our chances.
  12. Yeah, I'll keep it going as long as I can. Didn't have a hat on though but now that I think of it someone in our group was wearing black with a hat so yeah might have been our group you saw. I know a group of about 9 people that have or share season tix in different locations and think Sat night might have been first time all year for 100% attendance.
  13. Clearly its in the Leafs heads more than anything. Definitely a different kind of pressure in Toronto. But having >50% of your salary cap allocated to 4 forwards also seems like shit roster construction for a deep playoff run.
  14. I'll almost certainly be by the Michelob Ultra draft station in that corner close to section 103/104. In a black long sleeve shirt with Stars logo (on a winning streak with that shirt so can't change it up LOL).
  15. These shit kids need to "mature" in prison. They should not be out until their 40's at the earliest. There is a close to zero chance they aren't a danger to society in their late teens and 20's if allowed back on the streets.
  16. The Avs? Certainly the Stars bitch year after year.
  17. Shitty game. We definitely didn't get the bounces. Absolute shit luck (again) on their first goal. Then Seguin hits the cross bar point blank range. He puts that in the back of the net and I feel like the game changes significantly. Then they scored a 5 on 3 and a 5 on 4 + an empty netter. That being said, we played complacent and tight and didn't deserve the bounces. Helle didn't have to work hard for that shutout. He made a few good saves, particularly late, but he had it easy the first 40 minutes. Saturday night should be crazy at the AAC. Huge game.
  18. He threw a solid left while Scheifele was tied up with a linesman. Bitch made. After Scheifele kicked him with his skates while he was down. But glad to see the Stars are still in your head 2 weeks after sending the Avs home back to back seasons.
  19. And it was only game 11 for them. I think that was definitely the case for the Stars last year in the latter part of the Oil series but we entered that series playing 13 including a 7 game physical series against Vegas (comeback from being down 2-0 losing both at home so had to basically play perfect hockey to win) + then clinching game 6 in 20T against Colorado. So it was really games 17-19 of the playoffs last year I felt we looked worn down. Vegas doesn't have as good of an excuse playing 11 total (6 at home)
  20. I don't think fair to evaluate Robo after being back 3 games coming off a 3 week knee injury. I'm guessing he would just now be slotting in if the regular season. I thought he had a decent game considering last game. What we do with Robo long term given cap situation and his likely next contract value will be a good offseason discussion, but for now, I'm pretty optimistic he's going to be a pretty big asset this playoffs as he gets healthier. I think he was actually pretty solid last year in the playoffs overall from what I recall without going back and checking stats.
  21. Edmonton is on a heater. After looking like they had the worst goaltender on the planet the first 2 games, they go to Pickard who wins 6 in a row, then he gets hurt, then Skinner who somehow posts back to back shutouts. Winning 8 of 9 in the playoffs really impressive. Will be a tough matchup for Stars if we can close this out. I wanted this series extended but F Vegas. Glad they lost. They are right there with the Avs for my most disliked team. I didn't watch after the 2nd last night but Vegas certainly look older and slower. Was surprised how little juice they had in a home elimination game from what I watched. It was a contrast to game 1 where they still were flying up and down the ice.
  22. Robert Tiffin noted it is like the inverse of the WCF last year that we essentially lost on special teams (our power play went ice cold and Oil PP caught fire).
  23. I'm on the fence on Benn penalty after looking at it closer again today. Terrible timing, but Lindell got cross checked in the back and Benn needs to have his back there as captain. It was a bit too much, but my initial reaction at the game was "how do you only send one off there" and I still feel that way now after watching replay several times. Particularly considering under 5 to go in the 3rd. I feel like we watched these guys get pushed around some the last 2 playoffs and we are making a point it's not going to happen this year. I saw someone else comment (and I agree) that at least by Benn stepping in he made sure Lindell didn't do something to get sent off (who we absolutely needed on the ice those 5 minutes), so to the extent Benn took that into account charging in then good for him LOL.
  24. I thought we were pretty thoroughly outplayed the first half of the game, then we flipped the switch in the 2nd and played a lot better. We easily could have been down a couple of goals if Otter wasn't on so all credit to him. I did confirm advanced metrics said the same (slightly favored Jets). Don't get me wrong, we didn't get dominated, but Jets have to feel shitty because they played a really good road game and still lost by 2.
  25. I was shocked Arniel didn't go 6-4 there to try to get one. Fully expected it from the stands. Have been too busy to go find if he was asked about it post-game.
