  1. Yep. I heard this late last week. Was hoping it was the person I heard it from was just fucking with us but nope. Happy Thanksgiving from Yormark. As I posted in the Big 12 refs thread earlier this week, maybe the Big 12 tiebreaker scenario is such a cluster if Texas loses that the Big 12 will reign Mar in. One can hope.
  2. I was busy and F1 pretty much completely flew off my radar last weekend. Not a big fan in any event but under normal circumstances would have paid some attention. I'm guessing nobody went? Curious how much of a cluster F it all was. I heard that the race itself was pretty good at least for those into it.
  3. Would be interesting to read the contract but I think it would be absolutely idiotic by Aggy to put out any public statement to the effect (or even leak) that an agreement was reached (with anyone) if trying to hire a coach with a reduced buyout. An oral agreement can be binding if supported by evidence so better safe than sorry. But knowing Aggy, they would probably fuck that up.
  4. Pretty sure I saw that the Fisch buyout drops by $1MM on 12/1 so if they plan to announce by Weds probably not him. Unless Aggy is so careless with money they think it's worth $1MM to gain less than a week. I still think it's Elko but could see Fisch as well. Either would definitely take the job IMO. Obviously the fact that Michigan might come open is really the only thing that muddies the waters.
  5. A faction that wants KK as HC? Unless KK's distaste for recruiting is internet fodder, I struggle to see him coming back to college as a HC and dealing with all the bullshit that comes along with it (or at least struggle to see him succeeding in that role at A&M of all places). He wouldn't be in my "realistic" top 10 if I were weighing in for them. I could see him cutting a deal as an OC and basically saying, "I'm here to coach football and that's it". But even in that scenario, when you have the $$ that KK already has, why in the world would you want to live in college station? I don't know Kliff or anyone that does know him well in coaching circles so I'm purely speculating but hard to see how that's a fit in any scenario.
  6. We're going to get the Kevin Mar crew Friday. I'm pretty confident of that. So I think this will be a nice test as to whether Mar and his cronies actually hate Texas or just acting at the direction of the conference. In Mar's case, I've always assumed he doesn't need instructions or any "winks" to fuck us. He personally enjoys it. But as much as the Big 12 wants to fuck over Texas, this tiebreaker is such a fucking mess that it would really be in their best interest for Texas to just win on Friday and simplify the tiebreaker for the last spot. That is the only scenario with certainty at least according to the Big 12's interpretation of the poorly written rule. Personally I still don't understand based on my reading of it why Texas hasn't clinched but whatever. Don't get me wrong, I fully expect this team to get Mar'd on Friday and have to overcome a bunch of BS just like we did last week. But the Big 12 fucked up their tiebreaker so bad they should actually want Texas to win to save face.
  7. Yesterday (and really only the 2nd half) was first I've seen of this team. Obviously incredibly cold shooting and that's just basketball but I certainly didn't see the defensive intensity we were accustomed to last year (until that last possession). I never put much weight on first 8-10 games or so of a new season, particularly for a team with a bunch of new faces, but that's what I would like to see more of tonight regardless of outcome.
  8. This. We need a great home atmosphere. And that absolutely should be the case. I'll be there. Can't wait!
  9. Just now logging in and the thread went as expected. The officiating in the first half was as bad as 2015 Okie St. It was beyond obvious what was going on. Loved that the team said Fuck You Yormark it don't make a shit. Almost done with this garbage fucking conference.
  10. Disappointed our resident HP poster (Porterhouse) quit the site so he can't chime in about how overrated Tre is and how he'll never be a factor in college. Wondering if he would keep that up now that he's apparently going to be a horn.

Maybe I need to watch it again. Because I thought it was a bad angle but the fact I thought he appeared to pursue at about 3/4 speed after Savion passed him (i.e., complete opposite of the Whittington hustle play) may have clouded my initial reaction of "WTF is he in the game".

It's also been different things back-to back-weeks. Against KSU if was (i) terrible tackling on the long TD at the sideline that gave them momentum then (ii) back-to-back turnovers. Last week, we started mixing in defensive backups with the big lead (while also probably calling less aggressive defense) and it kind of fell apart. If we just make the tackle on what should have been a 9 yard gain (setting up a 3rd and short) instead of a 50+ yard gain (ending with the Savion hurdle) on their first TD drive, they probably never get back into it. That was just abysmal execution by virtually our entire secondary. Then momentum is a weird thing once you lose it.
  13. Agreed. Embarrassing for the conference something that confusing managed to get published. But this is the Big 12 we are talking about. Completely fitting. Amateur hour. As long as it ends up fucking someone that is not Texas (preferably OU), then great.
  14. I don't think you understand the definition of "upside". Upside does not equal "sure thing". Far from it. If Jimbo has a 1% chance of reaching a national championship game in 2 years, and his replacement has a 1.5% chance, then by definition, that replacement has more upside.
  15. I used the word "upside" for a reason. I'm not saying it's likely either would out-perform Jimbo. But I would give literally anyone qualified to obtain the A&M coaching job better odds of a top 5 finish in 2025 or 2026 compared to Jimbo simply because after back-to-back disappointing seasons in years 5 and 6 he had lost all momentum, didn't have player buy in and his roster was about to become even worse. Everyone was predicting another mass portal exodus this year and his roster management has proven to be absolute shit before that even while signing top classes. Again, I don't think it's "likely" either Elko or Traylor has A&M making a deep playoff run in the near term. But it's more likely than if Jimbo were coaching. So yes, I think more upside. I would have been absolutely thrilled with 2 more seasons of Jimbo instead of competing against a new name and renewed booster enthusiasm (portal $$). I don't know how those idiots can afford it, and I certainly don't think it's going to win a risk/reward analysis with the $$ we're talking about, but making the change now did increase their odds of near term success at least some amount no matter who they hire. Would obviously be happy to see a roster exodus and portal flop prove me wrong.
  16. I'm not going to take the position that Elko doesn't have more upside than Jimbo. Because at this point in his tenure and lack of momentum, just about anyone that takes that job probably has more upside. But I think they let it play out 2 more years if not for Texas winning + moving to the SEC. Not only would it save $15MM+, but punting an up front $19MM payment 2 years down the road has a lot of value in the current interest rate environment
  17. Someone let me know if I'm missing a game but I looked at week by week ratings out of curiosity and I think there has only been 1 Big 12 matchup the entire season that did not include Texas or OU and broke 1.5MM viewers. Oklahoma St. v Kansas St. Do you know what was unique about that game? It was a Friday night with absolutely zero sports competition. The NHL hadn't started, NBA hadn't started, obviously no NFL other meaningful NCAAF games, and it was a night off for MLB playoffs (all 4 divisional series started Saturday).
  18. It certainly gives them a better chance of winning that Jimbo. But it also certainly doesn't scream title contender overnight. They were in a shitty situation but it will never cease to amaze me they blew $80MM+ because Texas is 9-1 (with a W @Bama) and joining the SEC next year. There is zero chance if either of those weren't true they make this move.
  19. He probably forgot about the pass behind the LOS to Brooks that went for 80 yards last week. I guess Sark should just call the plays behind the LOS that went for big gains and not the others.
  20. It's not going to surprise me at all if announced Sunday after Thanksgiving (or that Saturday night) and it comes out later that the deal was cut last week.
  21. I'm going to be pretty shocked if it's not Elko. Just too obvious given he was just there a few years ago. It's a hire Billy and the rest of the Ag media can sell (much moreso than Traylor). He would likely be able to keep most of the defensive talent/recruits. The question would obviously be offense. I don't know much about the current Duke OC (Kevin Johns) but he doesn't have a resume that jumps off the page. Getting a home run OC hire is what would be tough as not many names that really jump out at you (that likely aren't in the market for one of the smaller jobs that opens up).
  22. This. He would by great in our offense.

If you are negative because we 'might be disappointed with a first round playoff performance' your expectations are ridiculous. Nothing about this teams screams should be playing for a national championship. We have way more holes on this roster than those that should have that level of expectations.
  24. Yep. I assume A&M $$$ in play for the portal just went up considerably compared to if Jimbo were getting another year. They aren't bringing in a new coach (and a new coach isn't taking a job) without some assurances they are ready to put money to work. We're going to need our donors/one fund contributors to step up.
  25. As stated above, that was a pretty balanced game with bad calls and subjective calls that went both ways. I 100% agree that the fuckery was getting to be under too much of a microscope after the lack of calls we've seen all season and the horrible no call on DPI in Bedlam. We'll see if that continues though.
