  1. I missed the 2nd quarter with kids soccer so watched that this morning. I watched that play 4 or 5 times. Unless Cook somehow played tremendous defense, I'm pretty sure that ball was picked regardless. What Sark said about Malik is exactly right. He tries to make plays when there is absolutely no play to be made. Nobody was open on that play. He throws it away we are at 3rd and 2 in FG range and likely get points on the drive. He throws the ball on the 4th quarter pic away instead of making probably the most boneheaded play I've seen a Texas QB make (with stiff competition from his throw against BYU last week) we punt it and it likely never gets that close. I don't think anyone is "giving up on MM" as is the narrative by some on this thread. But we're playing for a conference championship and playoff spot right now. If this was an 8-4 or 7-5 season fine, let him make mistakes and figure it out, but we aren't in a position for him to work through this right now. A better D probably picks off 4 passes yesterday. Assuming Ewers can't go, I think we have to get Arch in for a series early next week so that if it's a tight game and MM is melting down, Arch isn't in a position to have to save us on his first ever series. Arch will never be "dual threat" but he can actually scramble if open unlike MM and move the chains. And he may very well make mistakes and throw picks not reading coverage, but if nothing else, I would think his pedigree would keep him from just pure WTF throws right at a defender we've seen the past 2 weeks. More importantly we need QE back. We're playing with fire as long as he is out.
  2. Until that 4 down stop that was the worst 15:20 + OT of Texas football I've seen in a long time. So many mistakes. Arch needs to play next week if not start. We can't be put in a position where we can't pull MM if he gives the ball away like that again.
  3. JT completely fucks us over. Better make up for it. Inexcusable in that situation.
  4. Look at all those empty seats in the Student Section. Good Job Good Effort. Pathetic.
  5. Other than actual parade production (and timeline) which was severely lacking, one of the biggest mistakes was shutting off access to the interior WAY before the parade started. On the opposite side of the barriers, there were fans only 2-3 deep while probably 50+ deep on the other side. We got there probably an hour before it started and asked a cop where we could cross and he said they had shut it off. It made zero sense. So as people parked on the outside the crowd kept growing deeper and deeper with shitty views and hardly anyone on the other side. They should have just opened up for 5 minutes and let a few thousand people get through to even it out a bit. It was a pretty simple solution. It was just not thought our or well organized at all. But my kid had fun so whatever.
  6. Took my kid yesterday. Good time but man that was one disorganized parade. There was like a 40 minute lull between the marching bands and a couple of floats and the next one LOL. They clearly threw that shit together in 24 hours. Very on brand Arlington. In hindsight would have just tried to figure out a way to get to the stage ceremony. We were done by the time Bochy and WS trophy finally came by.
  7. All i've heard through the grapevine is more likely out than known. And hopefully 1 or 2 learned the difference between being hurt and being injured overnight.
  8. This is what I came to see if public yet either. I heard potentially more than expected.
  9. I'm leaning towards going and taking my son. But this also concerns me.
  10. This was a great read: Inside the night the Rangers became World Series champions - ESPN
  11. Since sharing old memories. Thought about my uncle and granddad last night. Those old men would watch every single game. I went to several with my granddad over the years. Uncle was almost as old as my grandad (married my dad's sister) and when my grandad spoke at his funeral he mentioned a rangers win streak and how he could rest easy. A couple of years later when I spoke at my granddad's funeral, I made a joke about how he couldn't bear to watch them any more after we started the season terribly (as was often the case). Those guys would have been on cloud 9 last night. Then I thought about the fact that no doubt a Rangers game at the original ballpark in the late 80's was my first pro sports game. We would drive in from West Texas and do Six Flags + Wet N Wild + Rangers once or twice a summer. Always the highlight of the summer. I remember a special trip in the early 90's just to see Nolan Ryan pitch. I recall we actually had good seats for that one and I was in awe. So I was a Rangers fan first and then I guess the 90's Cowboys run helped solidify my relationship with Dallas despite living 4 hours away. I moved to Austin in HS and stayed through UT and during those 8 years was somehow fully locked into the Stars and Mavs despite only attending 1 game each in the rafters at reunion on a random trip as a kid (my 2nd ever Mavs game was one of the early Dirk playoff games in college in San Antonio which solidified my Spurs hatred). When deciding on law school, I was choosing between SMU and UH. Like that was even a fucking choice. Fuck Houston. I have now lived here 20 years and raising my kids here. Crazy to think a big part of that path all started with a crappy Rangers team in a crappy stadium in the 1980's that connected me to this area. Made sure to thank my dad last night for taking me to those games all those years ago.
  12. Probably need to actually do some work today at this point but just read through the last 3 innings of this thread. Greatness and pretty much mirrored all my emotions. Still in shock.
  13. I saw DMN site indicated they would have pop ups around town next week. Also looks like the DMN is doing some kind of a book.
  14. Taking a short break from celebrating to say HOLY HELL WE DID IT!!!!!!!!! Congrats all. Now back to my Eagle Rare!
  15. Maybe the shields are used when pressbox is behind the sideline so a spotter in the coaches box with binoculars can't get a good view?
  16. Flights filled up over the course of the game. There were still lots of options Tues night but I looked once we got that lead and it had dwindled. Looked again after and almost everything booked including all connecting options. I think there are going to be a lot of Rangers fans in the house tonight.
  17. Right. If it was a sideline pass it would still be a big deal but the "investigation" response would make a bit more sense as there seems to be a wider distribution. I just can't fathom how a bench pass was issued/given to someone without direct knowledge of someone on the staff.
  18. I was close to booking a refundable (credit) SW flight during game 3 when they were more reasonable. There was still one that left this afternoon earlier this morning but it was sold out as of a few hours ago. I'm taking one for the team staying home as I'm 0-2 in 2023 in relatively last minute high leverage 24 hour in and out sports trips (Elite 8 vs. Miami and Stars/Knights Game 2)
  19. This wasn't even a sideline pass. It was a bench pass. Those passes are 100% controlled by the Athletic Dept and specifically the football team. Someone on that staff asked someone in the possession of the actual passes for a pass and then someone gave it to Stallions. That entire chain of command is under the Head Coach. Whether or not there is a "list" or not, it shouldn't be a time consuming investigation. Which makes me speculate they are just trying to figure out how to mitigate the damage from a PR standpoint right now.
  20. The CMU official response to this is going to be interesting. To the extent that it was Stallions on the sideline (which seems likely at this point), I don't think there is any way JM didn't know that after the game yesterday when he indicated it was being investigated. There just aren't that many bench passes available. The entire football dept works for him. All he has to do is ask who that guy was and who approved him for a pass and someone can give him an answer. My guess is he knew exactly who he was and they are trying to figure out how the hell to respond saving face under the circumstances. Because if JM knew who he was, some assistant coach or low level staffer isn't going to get thrown under the bus and allow their career to get sidetracked over this if the HC was in the loop.
  21. No doubt. I was just making the point that dudes can look skinny as hell in HS and really grow into that frame. DT put on 40 LB's of muscle while at Texas.
  22. I bet you can find a great deal close to first pitch. At least that was my experience game 5 of the WS against San Fran. I recall paying under face for decent seats.
  23. Anyone hopping on a flight today? Ticket prices to the game will probably be right. Some folks clearly did because hardly anything left out of Dallas. I considered but didn't pull the trigger as something came in for work yesterday I really can't ignore for a couple of days, but hope those that are filling up those planes have a reason to celebrate 14 hours from now.
  24. They only actually call holding on a 3rd and long clear and obvious incompletion. Huge coincidence.
