  1. Yeah, I'm guessing a lot of us don't post from the phone and I feel zero need to log in to my laptop and vent or celebrate unless a big win or a big L. Usually just read the thread next day and move on. Same with Stars and Mavs. As for last night, I still can't get over the fact Chapman went into that game. Newberg posted Chapman stats on back to back. 9 IP's. 9 ER's, 15 walks. It's unfathomable to put him in in that situation last night when you have LeClerk rolling after a 9 pitch inning. And if the issue is Leclerc pitched Weds night, well, maybe he shouldn't have pitched in a damn 5-0 game.
  2. Nothing else to say but Fuck Chapman. Can't believe we wasted a good starting pitcher on his sorry ass. Pure idiocy putting his completely unreliable and unpredictable ass in after a clean 9 pitch inning.
  3. Just making sure it wasn't revisionist history in my head but this was my take on 8/7. I definitely thought Dan and Jake would lose but this pretty much matches exactly what I think now. Except Cumulus came off (i) looking worse than I thought they would and (ii) appears to have gotten worked and actually weakened their hand in future non-compete fights.
  4. We know Bob recently signed a contract extension before all of this blew up. Do we know if anyone else has been recently renewed or expiring soon?
  5. Gordo's Twitch will be interesting. I think Cumulus could certainly take that position, but if the other hosts learned anything after this debacle, it's that Cumulus really doesn't have any leverage with any of them. What are they going to do if Gordo steps out of line. Fire him? I mean, as Cat admitted in cross "perhaps" Gordo is the Ticket's golden child.
  6. I think he means just bringing the lawsuit generally. It was an incredibly idiotic business decision by Cumulus that was obvious day 1. Not only "going after the little guy" but allowing dirty laundry to air (Cumulus/Bennet pitting Bob against Dan, forcing non-competes on essentially minimum wage employees, etc.). I know it won't happen but really just wish Cumulus would sell the station. It's a tough business model for any company in current times but I think this entire debacle showed Cumulus is (i) particularly shitty and (ii) clueless and never understood the asset they have if they thought starting this litigation was a good idea. Given Jake and Dan appear to be able to podcast starting tomorrow free and clear, they didn't even succeed in scaring future employees from challenging their non-competes in a similar fashion. Good job good effort.
  7. Yeah, based on what I scanned and excerpts that were posted on twitter they did not come off well at all. Obviously we'll likely never know terms of settlement, but sure seems like I was wrong and Jake and Dan's scrappy small firm lawyers worked Cumulus over. Did not expect for this to go well for the good guys. But as it stands, looks like they get to do their podcast (maybe they bumped out any potential return to radio longer in exchange) while most P1's paying attention to this saga somehow have an even lower opinion of Cumulus and management (which I wasn't sure was possible pre litigation).
  8. Right. Your risk analysis is a bit different than Don Johnson's which is pretty similar to mine.
  9. Your strong opinions in this thread are based on assumptions that aren't really grounded in any science that I've seen. Where is the evidence that T-cell immunity has decreased materially in those that only received the first round of shots or first round + a booster and/or a Covid infection? What I have read (and granted I don't follow it near as closely as I used to) is that the expectation is that in healthy people, you remain protected from severe disease and that T cell immunity is expected to last a long time. Your floating antibodies may be lower, and may be more susceptible to an infection, but I haven't seen any data that indicates, or really even speculates, that annual covid vaccines materially move the needle from a severe risk perspective in healthy low risk individuals. I think comparing the Covid and flu vaccine, both from a design and intent perspective, and a cost/benefit perspective, is apples and oranges.
  10. Finally made it back out to a game yesterday. Great time. Also first time sitting in the 100 level on first base line which, to bring it back to a discussion dozens of pages back, is probably now my preferred seating level after trying out various locations in park.
  11. Covid shots 2 & 3 were damn near the equivalent of actual COVID, at least for me. Flu shot have typically been zero side effects except slightly sore arm (which was about 20% of the COVID shot sore arm).
  12. Maybe bump that up to at least under 60. They have always sucked. I remember going to a game in Lubbock with some friends as a teenager in the mid 90's. We were cheering for Texas (who won relatively convincingly) but weren't being overly obnoxious. Some grown ass Tech fan wanted to fight us until his embarrassed wife made him leave. They have always been shitty fans in my experience.
  13. From a pure football perspective, outside of a handful of recent years, Baylor has known and accepted their role. Their alumni I'm around (40's+) aren't delusional and realize they are largely irrelevant. Most are closet Texas fans. Tech fans, on the other hand, have basically never been relevant, yet are constantly fucking delusional. You could go to Waco Saturday wearing Texas gear and not worry about getting shit thrown at you by a bunch of drunk morons but fuck attending a night game in Lubbock. So yeah, sign me up for Tech on this list.
  14. NIL being subject to Title IX is one of the dumbest fucking things I've read. It's literally Name, Image and Likeness. Your market value is your market value. That LSU gymnast makes more than damn near anyone doesn't she? Sorry nobody gives a shit about Duke Lacrosse Maddie.
  15. Looks like that is based on 2022 and based on quick search didn't see anything more recent either. Vast majority of those were in the 1st half of '22 which was the last big Omicron spike that effectively immunized anyone left. I would expect data for 2023 to show a further significant reduction unless something changes last quarter. And I wouldn't expect to see flu as we haven't had a bad flu season in years. Hopefully we won't this season either.
  16. Do you have current stats on that? Because without question the flu is a bigger issue in pediatric population. It's not close. RSV a bigger issue as well which is what had all the pediatric hospitals severely overcrowded last year (we have first hand account of that from doctors and nurses as son had to be hospitalized/surgery and the ER was a nightmare and took forever to get an available bed). I think people forget how big of an issue a bad flu year is (hospitals overcrowding, etc.). I would also wager your average 18-50 year old will have a much tougher time with the flu than Covid. And the flu kills plenty of elderly as well. To your point, Covid probably still is more deadly in the elderly population. Covid also more contagious clearly. But for most of us, if you actually get the flu in 2023, it's probably going to suck more than if you get Covid. Obviously the main reason why is virtually 100% of the population has some form of covid antibodies at this point.
  17. 95% of the people that are going to take the time to go on this website and order tests are the type of people that would test anyways anytime they feel off or otherwise stay home if at all under the weather. Probably >60% of the country will never take a Covid test again no matter the circumstances. Don't think this initiative moves the needle. The reality is for pretty much everyone the flu is a bigger threat than Covid in 2023. Got my flu shot yesterday. But have heard zero govt initiative in that regard. Hell, why don't they make rapid flu tests available? Weird that Covid still gets this special status at this point.
  18. Yes, Also yes. Texas tends to play to its opponents level (which often manifests itself in shit execution of fundamentals) until proven otherwise.
  19. There has got to be some kind of data fed to live sports operators that this is what they need to attract the younger audience. I attend a bunch of Mavs/Stars games in Dallas as well and the "attack on all senses" has gotten noticeably more intense of the last decade as well. Particularly NBA games.
  20. Label it however you want. It doesn't matter. But be sure to tag me when Biden takes a position to almost double top marginal tax rates or similar that would risk the moderate votes he needs to win reelection.
  21. If you want to play thread police, then go yell at LChorn for suggesting Biden could make AOC his VP which is what started the discussion.
  22. Read the fucking thread dude. I was responding to MC Fresh Breath. JFC
  23. Well aware of pre-Reagan. I answered his question. No desire to debate tax and spend policy with a bunch of progressives on this board. But there is a reason Biden isn't proposing that going into an election year. It's because it is, by definition, a progressive, not moderate, position. Which again, was just responsive to his question.
  24. I mean wasn't AOC proposing a 70% or higher marginal tax rate to fund the "green new deal". That qualifies as extreme in my view. I certainly don't follow AOC issue to issue but historically when she's made headlines she's been closer to the Bernie/Warren end of the spectrum. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything Biden has accomplished I consider 'extreme'.
