  1. Missed opportunity. Horrible AB by Garcia that inning. He absolutely has to be better.
  2. That was a lucky break there. That or this guy really is going to have a super tight zone.

He had a bad game. That and also taking kick out of the endzone giving us shitty field position. He's one of those guys that sometimes tries to do way too much with his limited snaps.
  4. Yep, Sark being aggressive is what kept us in the game early after the turnovers.
  5. I need to go back and watch that drive. Because as shaky as the D had been most of the game they put it together leading up to it. I just watched in disbelief from the stands. Like a slow motion car crash. When they called that BS PI I knew we were fucked.
  6. The reality is there just haven't been that many games the last 25 years when both teams were really good. I think teams on paper in 01 and 02 were equal and that was 100% the "Texas is soft" issue (as were some of the Mack blowouts for his pretty good not great Mack teams). 08 was also 2 elite teams. It played out totally different but yesterday reminds me somewhat of the 2018 game where I think OU was better on paper and Texas won as the underdog. We know how that rematch went. So hopefully history repeats itself.
  7. This was 100% the case with some of the Mack teams. But I don't think yesterday was this. I don't think this Texas team is soft. See Bama. I think maybe overconfident (i.e., maybe like a couple of those OU teams that lost to terrible Texas teams - and this OU team is a good team). And interior OL is just not talented especially after 2 injuries now. Losing the Center first drive really hurt. Yesterday was a weird game across the board. Still haven't wrapped my arms around it. I've been to 26 now and have seen all kinds of swings and weird stuff but still continue to be surprised how much this game will surprise you year after year.
  8. Yeah - I'm trying to find a summary of exactly what happened. Was out at the fair/game yesterday and pretty unconnected and didn't see anything until last night. All I've seen are reports of lots of deaths and a consensus that it was a massive intelligence failure for Israel (and the attack clearly involved lots of coordination and planning) but have not found a good summary of exactly what all went down.
  9. Agreed with all of this. Might be the worst game we've seen Ford play. Edge and Interior OL were clear roster/depth deficiencies identified pre-season and that really showed yesterday.
  10. Their special teams were garbage. I don't think we can count on winning that phase in a landslide again. I still think we are better than them but we don't have some massive advantage. They are a good team.

I'll say this. OU's offensive is pretty damn tough to stop when they run with DG. He's a talented and accurate passer so you can't sell out to stop the run like we did against Bama. There is absolutely zero chance they run him like that all season because it will get him hurt (i.e., what led to 49-0 last year) but if we get the rematch and he's healthy they sure as hell will so someone better get working on it now. We definitely did not adjust well in game. And tackling was just poor across the board.
  12. The interior OL was the glaring (and really only) weak link on the offensive roster and now we have 2 injuries. Need those guys to get healthy but no doubt that hurt yesterday.
  13. I mean, we're getting off topic, but yeah, Saban will never have that advantage again in the NIL era. That's why he's the ringleader for regulation.

100%. I think we were about to take control of the game right there. Credit to OU's D for the goal line stand.
  15. This was biggest surprise for me as well. And pretty sure we discussed this as why I slightly leaned Texas cover coming into game (in the thread with all the massive overconfidence on this site that OU couldn't compete which went about like I thought). I don't think D or PK adjusted well during game. And obviously want that last drive back. But our DL's inability to control the LOS absolutely was biggest surprise and difference in game. That and absolute shit tackling which we have not seen at all this season to date. If our DL plays like that against Bama, and we tackle like that against Bama, we lose that game by 10.

From my vantage point Ewers just stared him down from pre-snap then made a terrible decision. It was a pretty easy play because Ewers eyes told him exactly what was coming. Really only bad play by Ewers the entire game.

Yep. Its college football. Roster talent is way more important than coaching. Kirby Smart is not some coaching genius. He stacked a roster. When you play teams with equal or close to equal talent you have to execute. They just executed better overall. Outside of 1 ball Ewers played great, Brooks played great, Worthy and all the WR's played great. Sanders drop resulting in a pick hurt. But this game also showed our roster isn't quite readyfrom a depth perspective. Losing our center hurt. Our interior OL was already the weak spot on our roster and that showed. Not having Watts on D hurt more than I expected. More than anything I give credit to DG and both OU lines. They beat us up front. Period. Did not see that coming. Also did not see Jaylon Ford having one of his worst games I can recall coming. I want a rematch.

JFC. The constant overreaction on this board in both directions never disappoints.

This. Bitching about "coaching" when we can't punch it in from the 1 is what I would expect from this site. That's player execution and winning the LOS. Period. I'm sure PK wishes he had another shot at that last drive but D played decent in the 2nd half. Bigger issues on D was constant missed tackles (which hadn't really been an issue this year until yesterday) + dropping the pick in the endzone. DG played a great game but we didn't make him pay for his mistake. They made us pay for our mistakes. Sark would be first to say there are handful of play calls he wishes he had back and I'm sure on rewatch you could nitpick but overall I didn't have any issue with the way he called the game whatsoever. I'm sure he (and all of us) would have calculated 90%+ chance of a TD running it from jumbo package 3 straight times. OU D stepped up and we didn't. Hopefully we see them again in December.
  20. Well how about that!!!! "No expectations" (from my perspective at least) seemed to worked out just fine. Still playing house money. Let's keep it rolling!
  21. That will work
  22. Oh shit. Yall are about 15 secs in front of me LOL
  23. I'll take a blooper for a hit with RISP (finally) all day!
  24. Inches from a double and instead a GIDP. Damn.
  25. That's some Sooneresque high level analysis right there. I better tune in and see what other mind blowing insights they have on the game.
