  1. I mean wasn't AOC proposing a 70% or higher marginal tax rate to fund the "green new deal". That qualifies as extreme in my view. I certainly don't follow AOC issue to issue but historically when she's made headlines she's been closer to the Bernie/Warren end of the spectrum. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything Biden has accomplished I consider 'extreme'.
  2. Any 0% offer out there - that note is getting sold at a steep discount. You almost certainly should be able to negotiate the purchase price down in lieu of financing. You are paying interest one way or another in this environment.
  3. He's got a first round grade now even with concerns regarding his hands. His speed is just another level
  4. It all boils down to the fact that Belmont retains incredibly lazy people. I've known a couple of people that worked inside the beast for a number of years and left partially because their bosses are incompetent and pretty much no room for advancement unless you stay forever. I don't necessarily know who is in charge of gameday songs but the fact that it's completely unoriginal is par for the course.
  5. If he actually attempts a subscription model for all users, my guess is the balance sheet is even worse than we thought. But yeah, considering he loses potential advertisers with every idiotic tweet, I guess it shouldn't be that surprising.
  6. That's a pipe dream. Barring an injury that depletes his draft stock he's gone.
  7. Sark just doesn't really rotate receivers. Worthy + AD + Whittington(on 3 WR sets) are playing damn near any meaningful snap.
  8. I'm not commenting on who is "right" with respect to the strike. What I said is that a UAW strike being a positive for Tesla, in addition to other competitors, isn't a controversial take. I'm not a Musk or Tesla fan boy. Can't stand Musk. No desire to buy a Tesla. But yeah, the situation at UAW seems to be a positive for all big 3 competitors and not sure how that is controversial.
  9. Don't know that posters background but the UAW strike being a positive for Tesla, in addition to other competitors (Toyota, Honda, Volvo, etc.) isn't exactly a controversial take.
  10. Every season ticket holder needs to file complaints in the weekly survey. It's our only hope.
  11. Guess no holding in the NFL either.
  12. I thought the drone show was great. Bob Cole was definitely more subdued most of the game (I wonder if our comments actually work) but as the game wore on he couldn't help himself. Let's keep the bitching up. I think worst thing about gameday experience is (i) shitty big 12 officials that stop the fucking game constantly for conferences because they are incompetent and (ii) the new clock rules that simply result in added commercial time. The commercial brakes seem longer than ever. Especially in the first half when, combined with our shitty play, the life was just sucked out of the stadium.
  13. From my vantage point (east side 35YL) the non-PI call when we were on O and then PI call against us were both garbage. There was one blatant non-holding call we had a great view of. About half our section screamed hold simultaneously. No call of course. I didn't realize how bad the spot was until reading this thread. I was thoroughly confused by the delay with subsequent "spot can't be challenged". Why the hell not? And why wasn't that just reviewed regardless when it was that far off. I'm absolutely certain we've seen bad spots overruled time and time again. I can only recall 1 potential call against us they didn't call (block in the back that was close but don't remember exact time and situation). Just incredibly shitty officiating which is par for the course. It's pathetic when you long for an SEC crew on the road against Bama for fair and unbiased officiating LOL.
  14. Don't necessarily disagree. Just a concern heading into such a consequential election.
  15. I think a significant portion of the voting population flat out don't put that much thought into it. There is a reason "it's the economy stupid" is still referenced every campaign season. Trump's ridiculousness has been so normalized, sadly, a lot of people probably just don't give a shit. I think state of the economy will definitely have an impact on blue collar workers in swing states and I don't think it's going to be any kind of thoughtful macro analysis. Very much viewed from their personal situation. Probably a good thing the UAW strike is this year and not this time a year from now but no doubt his operatives are trying to figure out how the hell to solve it before any kind of macro impact.
  16. I agree people that are going to vote for Trump generally are going to vote for him. But there are still a lot of moderates and anti-trump R's you need to actually vote D in swing states. And I agree nobody caring about VP's is accurate is just about every election until this cycle just because of Biden's age. This time next year R's will absolutely make Biden's age the #1 issue (they know they would have absolutely zero chance at beating a 10 year younger Biden) and taking the position a vote for Biden is really a vote for 'President Harris.' I just don't think the D's are adequately positioning for that reality. There is still some time obviously. This article kind of articulates my thoughts better: Opinion | How Joe Biden should solve the Kamala Harris Conundrum - The Washington Post
  17. I don't think so. I think it may have been played a season or 2 before he passed, but if not, i don't recall hearing about the tie in. What I recall is Mack liked the song/message. And thus of course that somehow led to thinking it would be appropriate last 5 minutes of warmups. It wasn't that different from the other pregame music that is polar opposite of what it is now (asleep at the wheel, lyle lovett, etc.). I honestly don't think there was much thought put into gameday production back in those days. CDC clearly a much different AD than Deloss in that regard.
  18. The stated goal at love was congestion. I never saw it as a big issue. Don't think it's the taxi lobby as pretty sure they are included. Seems like it's going to suck but per the article I read, looks like they spent a lot of time and money transforming a parking garage into a new pick up spot so guess we all better get used to it.
  19. Yeah, I forget what forum I type on sometimes then I read the responses. AOC isn't progressive, the economy isn't a concern and Kamala is a high profile VP. Sure Jan. As a non "liberal" but democrat voter, just trying to provide some perspective from the moderate world view that is actually going to flip national elections one way or the other in battleground states. Lots of tunnel vision over here but what else is new. On the economic front - the smartest people in finance aren't confident where things are 6 months of now with sky high interest rates not taming inflation as expected, consumer demand/spending still super strong, strong job market, consumer credit defaults starting to noticeably creep up. Nobody knows how this is going to go heading into a voting cycle and to dismiss it as a big risk for Biden is idiotic.
  20. My issue with the D's isn't that they need to do a shakeup. But they sure as hell needed to do everything they can to make Kamala visible and presidential the last 3 years given Biden's age. Seriously - can you recall a less visible VP in any recent administration? I can't. I don't get it.
  21. Back in '06 on a guys Euro trip, we flew from Greece into Milan then had to take a bus from Milan airport to catch a train. We show up and are relatively close to the "line" to get on the next bus. Bus shows up and all hell broke loose with a mad dash to the front "scuuzi" "scuuzi" with elbows flying. We were not prepared for that and missed that bus. Were prepared for the next one. Then at a later airport, yeah, a bunch of Italians on vacation with assigned boarding groups tried to pretend they didn't understand and make their way to the front to cut in line one after another. We made friends with people from pretty much every single country over that 6 week trip except Italians that kept in their own groups and were total assholes pretty much across the board no matter what country we were in. They were the worst.
  22. Buying a new vehicle in this environment about to become a lot shittier if this strike isn't resolved in short order.
  23. Was just laughing about this as well. The pregame warmup music in the early Mack years was so bad.
  24. No. I think in that scenario you risk losing a bunch of the anti-Trump moderates that elected Biden. They may just throw their hands up and not vote all together with the thought of a extreme progressive like AOC becoming president if Biden dies or becomes incapacitated. Absolutely terrible idea IMO. Any voting "leftist" is going to vote Biden regardless of the ticket. As for Kamala - I don't recall ever seeing a less visible VP. I didn't think she was necessarily one of the stronger contenders in the D field back last primary season but I didn't have a negative opinion of her. But instead of bolstering her status over the past 3 years they have minimized it. I feel like D strategy across the board has been extremely lazy heading into this cycle. They should have either made a strong effort to enhance Kamala's status through whatever means possible or have a clear replacement ready to go that would minimize any backlash. Like 'stache said, there are a lot of chickens being counted on the D side with an extremely old President and tenuous, at best, economy. If either his health declines or the economy goes into the shitter, both real possibilities, there has the potential to be a big fucking problem. Not like the stakes are high or anything given what another Trump term would mean for democracy.
  25. This. If you read the article he literally said he was advised that the first thing he should consider with every decision he makes in office is does it help his chances of reelection. And don't kid yourself that that part is unique to R politicians. That's all of them. Trump just happens to be evil so it's a bit more of a problem on that side.
