  1. From a pure football perspective, outside of a handful of recent years, Baylor has known and accepted their role. Their alumni I'm around (40's+) aren't delusional and realize they are largely irrelevant. Most are closet Texas fans. Tech fans, on the other hand, have basically never been relevant, yet are constantly fucking delusional. You could go to Waco Saturday wearing Texas gear and not worry about getting shit thrown at you by a bunch of drunk morons but fuck attending a night game in Lubbock. So yeah, sign me up for Tech on this list.
  2. NIL being subject to Title IX is one of the dumbest fucking things I've read. It's literally Name, Image and Likeness. Your market value is your market value. That LSU gymnast makes more than damn near anyone doesn't she? Sorry nobody gives a shit about Duke Lacrosse Maddie.
  3. Looks like that is based on 2022 and based on quick search didn't see anything more recent either. Vast majority of those were in the 1st half of '22 which was the last big Omicron spike that effectively immunized anyone left. I would expect data for 2023 to show a further significant reduction unless something changes last quarter. And I wouldn't expect to see flu as we haven't had a bad flu season in years. Hopefully we won't this season either.
  4. Do you have current stats on that? Because without question the flu is a bigger issue in pediatric population. It's not close. RSV a bigger issue as well which is what had all the pediatric hospitals severely overcrowded last year (we have first hand account of that from doctors and nurses as son had to be hospitalized/surgery and the ER was a nightmare and took forever to get an available bed). I think people forget how big of an issue a bad flu year is (hospitals overcrowding, etc.). I would also wager your average 18-50 year old will have a much tougher time with the flu than Covid. And the flu kills plenty of elderly as well. To your point, Covid probably still is more deadly in the elderly population. Covid also more contagious clearly. But for most of us, if you actually get the flu in 2023, it's probably going to suck more than if you get Covid. Obviously the main reason why is virtually 100% of the population has some form of covid antibodies at this point.
  5. 95% of the people that are going to take the time to go on this website and order tests are the type of people that would test anyways anytime they feel off or otherwise stay home if at all under the weather. Probably >60% of the country will never take a Covid test again no matter the circumstances. Don't think this initiative moves the needle. The reality is for pretty much everyone the flu is a bigger threat than Covid in 2023. Got my flu shot yesterday. But have heard zero govt initiative in that regard. Hell, why don't they make rapid flu tests available? Weird that Covid still gets this special status at this point.
  6. Yes, Also yes. Texas tends to play to its opponents level (which often manifests itself in shit execution of fundamentals) until proven otherwise.
  7. There has got to be some kind of data fed to live sports operators that this is what they need to attract the younger audience. I attend a bunch of Mavs/Stars games in Dallas as well and the "attack on all senses" has gotten noticeably more intense of the last decade as well. Particularly NBA games.
  8. Label it however you want. It doesn't matter. But be sure to tag me when Biden takes a position to almost double top marginal tax rates or similar that would risk the moderate votes he needs to win reelection.
  9. If you want to play thread police, then go yell at LChorn for suggesting Biden could make AOC his VP which is what started the discussion.
  10. Read the fucking thread dude. I was responding to MC Fresh Breath. JFC
  11. Well aware of pre-Reagan. I answered his question. No desire to debate tax and spend policy with a bunch of progressives on this board. But there is a reason Biden isn't proposing that going into an election year. It's because it is, by definition, a progressive, not moderate, position. Which again, was just responsive to his question.
  12. I mean wasn't AOC proposing a 70% or higher marginal tax rate to fund the "green new deal". That qualifies as extreme in my view. I certainly don't follow AOC issue to issue but historically when she's made headlines she's been closer to the Bernie/Warren end of the spectrum. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything Biden has accomplished I consider 'extreme'.
  13. Any 0% offer out there - that note is getting sold at a steep discount. You almost certainly should be able to negotiate the purchase price down in lieu of financing. You are paying interest one way or another in this environment.
  14. He's got a first round grade now even with concerns regarding his hands. His speed is just another level
  15. It all boils down to the fact that Belmont retains incredibly lazy people. I've known a couple of people that worked inside the beast for a number of years and left partially because their bosses are incompetent and pretty much no room for advancement unless you stay forever. I don't necessarily know who is in charge of gameday songs but the fact that it's completely unoriginal is par for the course.
  16. If he actually attempts a subscription model for all users, my guess is the balance sheet is even worse than we thought. But yeah, considering he loses potential advertisers with every idiotic tweet, I guess it shouldn't be that surprising.
  17. That's a pipe dream. Barring an injury that depletes his draft stock he's gone.
  18. Sark just doesn't really rotate receivers. Worthy + AD + Whittington(on 3 WR sets) are playing damn near any meaningful snap.
  19. I'm not commenting on who is "right" with respect to the strike. What I said is that a UAW strike being a positive for Tesla, in addition to other competitors, isn't a controversial take. I'm not a Musk or Tesla fan boy. Can't stand Musk. No desire to buy a Tesla. But yeah, the situation at UAW seems to be a positive for all big 3 competitors and not sure how that is controversial.
  20. Don't know that posters background but the UAW strike being a positive for Tesla, in addition to other competitors (Toyota, Honda, Volvo, etc.) isn't exactly a controversial take.
  21. Every season ticket holder needs to file complaints in the weekly survey. It's our only hope.
  22. Guess no holding in the NFL either.
  23. I thought the drone show was great. Bob Cole was definitely more subdued most of the game (I wonder if our comments actually work) but as the game wore on he couldn't help himself. Let's keep the bitching up. I think worst thing about gameday experience is (i) shitty big 12 officials that stop the fucking game constantly for conferences because they are incompetent and (ii) the new clock rules that simply result in added commercial time. The commercial brakes seem longer than ever. Especially in the first half when, combined with our shitty play, the life was just sucked out of the stadium.
  24. From my vantage point (east side 35YL) the non-PI call when we were on O and then PI call against us were both garbage. There was one blatant non-holding call we had a great view of. About half our section screamed hold simultaneously. No call of course. I didn't realize how bad the spot was until reading this thread. I was thoroughly confused by the delay with subsequent "spot can't be challenged". Why the hell not? And why wasn't that just reviewed regardless when it was that far off. I'm absolutely certain we've seen bad spots overruled time and time again. I can only recall 1 potential call against us they didn't call (block in the back that was close but don't remember exact time and situation). Just incredibly shitty officiating which is par for the course. It's pathetic when you long for an SEC crew on the road against Bama for fair and unbiased officiating LOL.
  25. Don't necessarily disagree. Just a concern heading into such a consequential election.
