  1. I'm trying to catch up on latest and 1/3 of the damn thread is some Amy Grant tangent. I think we're past the point of calling out thread shitting.
  2. The best part is the rest of the SEC is either forced to root for Texas (knowing we would never let them hear the end of winning it all our first year in the SEC) or have no rooting interest. It's pretty great.
  3. Agreed. I don't disagree with the decision to go for the block. They clearly saw something on tape to exploit. It was a player execution issue, not a coaching decision issue. It should have been a TD. My fixable special teams concerns are not being prepared for fakes no matter the field position. We've been caught in back to back games.
  4. I think the point is fuck supporting clickbait headline nonsense. Would never click on something like that no matter how good the "content" is. Clown shit.
  5. Agreed I think we need to come out and punch them in the mouth early. No doubt they think their shit doesn't stink and can't be beaten after the last 2 weeks (probably about the same way we felt heading into the first UGA game). I don't feel great about the matchup but that is a lot of recency bias creeping in. If we put ASU away with a good 3rd quarter or even up 24-8 like we should have I think we would all feel differently. I have no idea how this team will play as an underdog but optimistic that change in mindset will be a positive. The biggest key to me is whether or not we can run the ball. The 2 UGA games I somewhat understand but I don't get what happened against ASU. There is no way their DL is better than A&M (or probably even Kentucky) where we ran at will. Was it scheme? Just flat out getting beat? Some combination? Would like to see a film breakdown of what went wrong.
  6. That's right. Wasn't counting. Extra 2 days from a normal game week.
  7. When will Sark press conference be? I'll be interested to hear his approach to game prep with 10 days between games. I saw Mukuba and Barron both played over 100 snaps which is just insane. With as many snaps as every defensive contributor played, probably tough to figure out right balance between practice time and recovery. I'm guessing heavy dose of non-contact scout team work.
  8. Yep. Looking at their schedule Oregon was really the only 'good' offense they played all year (Indiana solid but not explosive). They had 2 WTF games against Nebraska (barely won) and then obviously Michigan. They have almost certainly played their best games of the season in back to back weeks. I don't remember if it was Klatt or Pate in their previews (both picked Texas to win but ASU to cover) but part of the reasoning was essentially that it is hard for college teams to play "good" back to back weeks and an expectation we would play down a bit. So hopefully that holds up for OSU this week. We'll need the big breaks to swing our way (turnovers, big special teams plays, etc.) just like Notre Dame did earlier today.
  9. This is the basis of my Notre Dame disdain. I respect the school, fans and traditions. But play in a fucking conference. As for UGA - after spending time in Atlanta around their shit fanbase - I won't be shedding any tears whatsoever if they lose this game.
  10. Just because he's coming back doesn't mean he doesn't have to compete for his job.
  11. Has anyone seen if we get a Big 12 crew or ACC crew for this one? I think officiating across the board is pretty much garbage but all things considered hoping it's an ACC crew without the old biases.
  12. I feel like yesterday's game was the complete 2024 Texas Longhorn Football experience in every way. Big lead blown, shitty officiating, 3rd quarter meltdown, missed kicks, and obviously that applies to 3's game as well. Watching the 2nd half (and particularly after yet another underthrown deep ball pick that should have never been thrown) I felt myself, like everyone I'm sure, feeling like I was so glad to be moving on to Arch and seeing what he could do next season. Then QE comes up with the most clutch and elite QB play we've seen at QB in over a decade and follows that up with 2 absolute dimes for another TD and 2 PT conversion. Just amazing. And yes, obviously the story is still being written and I hope Quinn has even bigger moments the next 2 weeks, but glad he will always have that. Just pure fucking nails when it mattered the most.
  13. This is the first game we've played as an underdog all year. Put me in the camp that I feel like that might be a good thing psychologically for this team. But we're going to have to play our best game of the season to win for sure. Absolutely have to play complimentary football. Our defense can't be on the field all game. We can't have stupid pre-snap penalties that constantly put us behind the chains. Cannot lose the turnover battle. We do all those things it absolutely should be a 4th quarter game. But Ohio St. also has the ability to run us out of the gym if they bring their A game and we play like we did the 2nd half yesterday. Also interested to hear injury news. The wear and tear on this team is a real factor with the schedule we've played the last 2 months. I'm assuming at this point only practicing in shells and not tackling to the ground in practice. Defense in particular needs time to recover after playing all those snaps yesterday. We're certainly at a disadvantage from that standpoint.
  14. That was a Billy special for sure. He's truly elite at knowing his audience.
  15. All due respect, were you really around and following the day to day of Texas football closely during the Mack Brown tenure? Because a lot of people with strong opinions on this topic were. I absolutely lay a massive chunk of the blame for the lost decade + of Texas football on Mack Brown. Certainly the beginning of that downfall. So yeah, a lot of us that understand Mack, his narcissism and his incredible ego don't want him anywhere near Texas football now that we have finally crawled out of it and that includes yucking it up with Bobby with whatever self serving hot sports opinions he might have.
  16. Fuck Mack Brown. There is zero scenario in which that asshole coming back around this program is "good" and if you all can't see that you have no understanding whatsoever of what went on here at the end of his tenure and who he is.
  17. This. Keep his ass as far away from the 40 acres as possible. Fuck him. I'll never click a link for any interview or anything else that has to do with that narcissistic asshole
  18. Hawkins is a true freshman that had absolutely no business playing this year and was stuck in a garbage offense with shit talent across the board. I'm not saying he's a future star, but saw some potential there to grow into something. Seems like a good fit for a mid tier program that would give him time to learn/improve.
  19. Is there any thought that Hawkins might take his talents into the portal after OU replaced him? Because OU having zero depth at QB next season would amuse me.
  20. LOL. Pooooooooor Soooners
  21. Stats (sports bar close to the stadium) was rec I got from an Atlanta client and thought it was really solid. Good bar food etc. First come first serve tables and there was a small (think like $5) cover. Obviously not as much time to pregame with a 1PM start but would be a good place to circle back and watch games afterwards as well.
  22. If we can't beat Clemson and ASU without him we don't deserve it. But if there is a chance he could get back close to pre-injury Bond sitting next 2 games I think you sit him and let him heal.
  23. I'm a solid 1 with Texas football with a decent gap then 2A Stars, 2B Texas basketball, 2C Mavs, 2D Rangers then another huge gap for anything else. I don't give a shit about the Cowboys and haven't for a long time. Agreed Jerry ruined them for me as well years ago.
  24. I don't really deep dive into hockey until post football season but did hear chatter last night about it being a bad year to have all this cap space at the trade deadline. Just not expected to be as deep of a market as in typical years. I have no doubt Nil is working on something though. He knows team as currently constructed looks like a 1 and done team with actual risk of missing playoffs all together if some of the current players don't step up.
  25. Back to back games I've attended where Jake lets in a flurry of 2nd period goals and fucks the game. He needs to start earning that contract. Also, back to back games I've attended where Robo seemingly didn't do much but take up space. Heard it confirmed by a 2nd person last night that he's a douchebag/asshole in person so maybe even a bit more critical of his frequent failure to show up.
