I forgot to mention this - there is a ton of reticence about Fisher from the King side. There's strong logic for King going to ATM in this cycle, and that might well prevail. That considered, any solid school that shows a true interest in the player will be a threat. They flat don't like Fisher and his style.

King should ask EJ Manuel, Drew Weatherford, Christian Ponder or Deondre Francois what they think of Fisher.

Manuel's dad almost knocked Fisher the fuck out

  2. As people have mentioned, staying on property at Universal comes with more perks than when you stay on property at Disney. If you don't feel like shelling out that much, there are a lot of hotel options to choose from off property. Staying closer to Sea World and the southern end of I Drive is recommended. The further north you go on I Drive, the shittier the hotels.

Their fans are getting more demanding about this. Fifteen years ago all but a tiny minority was fine saying "we have FSU every year so we can't schedule another top tier out of conference opponent". Now more and more Florida fans want to see compelling non-conference matchups in Gainesville, not just FSU and not just adding Miami, either.

They won't add Miami back to their OOC schedule full-time. Spurrier dropped them when he first came on board because they were getting whipped by the Canes every year. One of my partners is a Gator grad and I agree about their fans being demanding about it. Before Kirby came on the scene at UGA, the SEC East division was hot garbage.

Melting down over Athlon rating UT a top 5 coaching job and aggy not so much

Hysterical they say FSU is too high. Yeah, a school that has won 3 national titles in the last 26 years and is a national brand is too high to Aggy, a school that hasn't won dick since 1939 and is in no way considered a national brand on the college football stage.

Kiawah and Seabrook Islands have not been slam packed the times we have been there like HHI or Myrtle have been. The Amelia Island / Fernandina Beach areas were also nice and had plenty to do plus easy access from Jacksonville. However, with younger kids you just can’t beat the Florida Gulf Coast. 30A, Anna Maria Island, Longboat and Siesta Key, Sanibel/Captiva, all have better beaches, better water access for kids, and are all around more kid friendly. Outside of the Caribbean, the only beaches my kids want to go to are along that stretch, because for them a beach means warm water and white sand (outside of SanCap anyways). There are plenty of off the beaten path areas where you can go and not be elbow to elbow with people.

This year makes 26 years since I left Austin for Florida. I've been all over this state and the best beaches I've been to are on the SW Gulf side. I've been going to Anna Maria and Longboat for years and absolutely love it.

Jimbo signed a bunch of amazing classes.... that led to a consistent decline at FSU. And they are very close to realizing that Linguist is an anchor on that staff.

Aggy Aggy Aggy. They still don't know the history of their coach. Fisher's MO has always been fill up early and hang on to the recruits through NSD. He's not a game day closer like Bowden was.

Brewster wasn't the game changer at FSU. Fisher had good classes because he had guys like James Coley and Mark Stoops. They couldn't fucking stand him so they left. Pruitt and Brewster came along around the time Coley and Stoops left so he always had continuity with good recruiters on staff....at that time.

Jesus Christ, I know these people have zero capability of critical or objective thinking but it still amazes me how they pull shit out of thin air.

and needed a last minute drive to beat that team, as Auburn punched is soft ass team in the mouth.

The interesting part of that game was that Jimbo never changed the team's signals from the prior year when Dameyuene Craig was on staff. Craig left FSU to join Auburn prior to that season.

Well Craig was stealing all the signals during the game until Kelvin Benjamin came to the sidelines and told the staff that Craig knew every play they were running. If anyone recalls, this is why FSU put up towels around the signal caller during the 2nd half and the game changed from there.

You think Free Shoes University was failing to buy players? No, in assistant salaries, facilities, etc.

FSU was Top 10 in total compensation for coaching staff when Jimbo was there. He had plenty of support with regards to facilities. FSU spent, IIRC, $150-$200M when he was there and their only snag was the football only facility. FSU is a pretty cramped campus and real estate is at a premium. Jimbo the Cuck's solution was to demolish the baseball stadium, build the FOF facility there and rebuild the baseball stadium on the intramural fields. He lost his shit when Clemson opened theirs and regularly used "facilities" as an excuse for poor team performance.

I don't think there's a cut and dry viewpoint right now, there are too many factors. For starters, Jimbo left FSU because of a perceived lack of financial support..he might balk at going to a bankrupt state and college in financial woes right off the bat, regardless of other factors. aTm is going to be an easy job for at least a few more years, so he's not in any hurry. Maybe he likes the new AD fine. Maybe he hates the new AD. I think the point is that it's a 2 year runway to see what might happen, and no one knows the answer. Other than the tears, the immediate fun for me is going to be their replacement search.

The false narrative around the lack of financial support is the public explanation. The fact that he's a megalomaniac and an unreasonable prick was the reality.

It used to be said that LSU was one of the only places Jimbo would consider leaving FSU for due to his affinity for Baton Rouge and the school.

Now that Woodward is there, I think LSU could very well pluck him away from Aggy. The million dollar question is why. The dude has been shown to be an above average coach, not elite, when he doesn't have a generational talent under center. Aggy was willing to pay up for Jimbo and give him the moon because of the "active coach with an NC" crap they can hang their hat on. LSU is smarter than that.

This. Coaches with the kind of leverage that guys like Saban and Jimbo have usually don't have buyouts in today's day and age. Keep in mind, Fisher didn't have one at FSU either

That's partially true. There wasn't a buyout on Jimbo but Aggy had to pay out the remaining amounts on his assistants contracts. Don't recall the amount but it was a buyout.

Pretty sure wynwood is part of Craft Brew Alliance.  Which is 30% owned by AB InBev

They sure are. Looks like the transaction happened in Fall 2018. I wasn't aware of that.

Biscayne Bay is another decent brewery down that way. The only South Florida brewery I'll go out of my way for is Civil Society in Jupiter.

Is Concrete Beach the same as Wynnwood or are they separate breweries?

The Lager was good but nothing special.

To my knowledge they are separate. If memory serves, Concrete Beach is part of the A&S group that is owned by Boston Beer Company. Wynwood is still independent.

We did J Wakefield last year when we visited. I don’t think they sell any at retail; certainly it’s not widely available if they do. Good stuff though.

Wynwood and J Wake are the only 2 that I like in Miami. J Wakefield's retail offerings aren't that plentiful but you can find their stuff on draft in most parts of the state

This is pretty good. Crisp and clean.

Had never heard of it. Just grabbed in local grocery here in MIA.

Wynwood is good stuff. If you're still in MIA, check out J Wakefield.

They are probably more likely this season to lose one they should win, than win one they shouldn't.

Jimbo Fisher is always good for losing to at least one team he shouldn't. See his FSU tenure for prime examples.

Norman isn’t really as bad as B/CS. It’s like a little West Campus stuck in the surburbs of Oklahoma City, which is on par with Waco. Their campus isn’t too bad either. Like a poor man’s SMU with a bigger football stadium.

Agree on OU's campus. It isn't too bad. Aggy's campus buildings look like North Korean rec centers

Aside from Jameis Winston, Jimbo's QB recruiting as head coach hasn't lived up to his QB guru billing (Ponder and Manuel were before he was HC). I don't think Foster and Calzada were good takes, although to be fare Foster was in a transition year, and Clint Trickett, Jacob Coker, Sean Maguire, John Franklin, JJ Cosentino, Deondre Francois, De'Andre Johnson, Malik Henry, James Blackman, and Bailey Hockman have won a grand total of 15 games. It'll be interesting to see if he takes another big armed raw pocket passer who the teams in the kid's region passed on again this cycle.

Technically, Manuel was recruited by Jimbo when he was OC but Ponder was there before Jimbo's arrival.

What most people don't know about Jameis is that he would frequently change the plays from what Jimbo called. He was often at odds with Jimbo over this but we all saw the end result.

Other than Jameis, his QB recruiting at FSU was abysmal. He chose players with high upsides that had major red flags (Henry, Johnson, Francois) or projects he thought he could mold into the next John Elway (Coker, Cosentino, Blackman, Hockman and Maguire)
