  1. James Ward Prowse doing James Ward Prowse things.
  2. Massive 3 points yesterday. The bottom 3 all won Saturday - not sure when the last time that happened. So, winning was crucial. Ruben Selles as caretaker manager seems confident and cool headed. If Saints beat Leeds next weekend I reckon he will stay on the rest of the season. It is possible (incredibly).. that Southampton could be 17th at the end of the day next Saturday if 3 things happen. Bournemouth (17) loses to City - likely West Ham (18) loses to Forest - toss up Leeds (19) loses to Saints (20) - toss up With 18 points and 15 matches to go, the safety target is 38 points.. so find 20 points in 15 matches 5 wins, 5 draws, 5 losses - that is a big hill to climb trying to stay optimistic sauve, so sauve
  3. That's like asking me : "How about driving a nail through your head?" Not.gonna.do.it.
  4. What assets do OANN/Newsmax have? Change from the lobby couch? MyPillow coupons?
  5. FoxNews reporting something correctly sent them into a tailspin. Let that sink in.
  6. It's not happening. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12811739/jesse-marsch-talks-between-former-leeds-boss-and-southampton-break-down Jesse Marsch: Talks between former Leeds boss and Southampton break down we deserve to go down.
  7. a Jesse Marsch siting at the Southampton Harbour Hotel today.
  8. i think the thought amongst many supporters and the Southampton Board is they have brought on players of enough quality to stay up and team management is what is lacking. Whether Jesse has that or not remains to be seen. Detractors do note, his last two gigs ended in sacking (a 5 month and a 12 month tenure) - teams that had marginal talent when compared to top teams in their respective league. Southampton is not different in that respect - so that is a definite red flag. Southampton squad quality-wise is not that much different than most of the bottom 10 is the thought. of course that is a matter of much debate. But you hear comments like, "with this roster a good manager could keep this lot up". However, in regards to roster - i still think striker and goalkeeping has been this year's achilles heal that Ralph and Jones could not overcome. The WHINING of the Starting XI/formation announced the hour before matches is palpable on Southampton boards. Most thinking Ralph and especially Jones would never get it right. - wrong formation, wrong players, in wrong positions. Maybe that happens incessantly in most if not all PL fan boards, i dont know.
  9. It will be warmer the whole "We March Marsch On" will go on and on and on (hopefully) Marsch is about the best option out there - believe it or not. Re: Leeds current manager search I like his positivity and the way he carries himself. Most supporters are divided 50-50 on the appointment. Can't make everyone happy. I am on board though. No one will blame him for us going down. Will be a hero of course if he keeps us up.
  10. Nathan Jones sacked. his hiring was a huge mistake and pretty much sealed our relegation. 77% chance of going down. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/
  11. And so….. what then?
  12. I wish the league didn’t reward that kind of foul fishing.
  13. Saints 1 - 2 Wolves 1) at home 2) against a relegation rival 3) starting 4 of our winter signings 4) up 1-0, while wolves down to 10 men. 5) lose Nathan Jones out. We are going down. I am usually an optimist guy, but we are done. There is has been no joy in watching this club for a long time. miserable.
  14. Did GOP house members yell and berated witnesses? Winning.
  15. ah, man, Southampton fans was relying on Man City taking a relegation spot this year to help us stay up.
  16. that is gonna hurt their seller's rating on Amazon.
  17. Nobody is spending like Chelsea! 😀 BUT even if you compare the business done solely by the new Newcastle owners (roughly 2 years) against the rest of the TRADITIONAL TOP 6, I would argue they have "bought their way" into that bracket which in turn reflects their current league position (4th place). last 2 years net spend leaders (using transfermarkt as reference) 1 Chelsea : €537.06m 2 Man United : €341.33m 3 Newcastle : €313.55m 4 Arsenal: €304.56m 5 Tottenham : €200.68m 6 Liverpool : €104.05m 7 Man City: €38.7m I appreciate the discussion **note: i only measured the last 4 years in my original post to include Joelinton and Almiron in the calculus as they are current contributing starters for Newcastle. *** also, I dont mean to discredit the job Eddie Howe is doing and how he sets up his team. Southampton were the 2nd biggest spenders the winter transfer window and i have no confidence that Nate Jones is going to be able to manage that investment wisely to get us out of the bottom 3.
  18. Eddie Howe has done a good job, but i am kind of going to have to disagree with you. Are they not in the top 4 of spenders in the past 4 years? Kind of reflects their current table position (4th). Net spend the last 4 years. https://www.transfermarkt.us/newcastle-united/alletransfers/verein/762 19/20 - €37.26m 20/21 - €39.00m 21/22 - €130.50m 22/23 - €183.05m that is a 4 year net spend more than Liverpool or Tottenham. Hell, Brighton is the real story, a negative net spend the last 4 years and sitting in 6th place, 6 points behind Newcastle with a game in hand. **Oh, and it's not like Joelinton €44.00m and Almiron €24.00m were cheap buys in 2019.
  19. oh man, i thought you and i had been in the same boat. However, We got power restored yesterday at 3pm. So 5 days, 12 hours without. Freezer is mostly a complete loss. 4 loads of laundry done, dishwasher run, etc. Although......just lost power again at 12:30pm... so things are not unfucked yet it appears.
  20. i am sympathetic to the crews working the issue, but the scale of the response to the problem is pathetic. They should have resources from the rest of the state and/or neighboring states helping out, pitching in. its been 3 days since i have even seen a utility truck roll through my neighborhood. With the lack of communication, you feel forgotten. You look around and wonder: "Are we even on AE's radar?" Of course without power and internet service, the ability to communicate is difficult. Further, it is made a bit more difficult as you see the rest of the city moving on. i guess i am having abandonment issues! The response makes one feel like they don't care. (Oh, they say they do, but they ain't doing shit about it) **5 days, 7 hours and counting.
  21. It’s very real. Got the same text.
