  1. I don't remember the contractor but it was overseen by CTRMA. That was a terrible project but I will say that they learned a lot about how to property track progress and their more recent and much bigger projects have improved a lot. 45 SW opened on time and on budget, 290/130 flyovers opened 6 months early and the 183 South project is just finishing up and they've done a really great job. Likewise, cap metro has also changed a lot under the leadership of Randy Clark. The dude runs a tight ship. I trust him. The corridor program for the City of Austin is completing a lot of smaller projects ahead of schedule as they get ready for the longer bigger improvement projects to start in the next few years. That's another example of good government work.
  2. Yet their two major capital projects in the last few years both finished ahead of schedule and under budget.
  3. Because a decent enough number of Fox News watchers are voting for Biden.
  4. The main reason for the tunnel is because it allows for the light rail to be extended in the future. Downtown Austin has smaller than average city blocks and doubling the trains would block 2 intersections. The tunnel allows the system to be extended at a future date. The point is you don't want to spend all this money and then have your capacity capped 10-15 years after it opens. The tunnel also improves performance by decreasing waits near lights and allowing the train to travel faster. You also don't cannibalize what is a major bus corridor so you aren't hurting the routes that go to the places the train doesn't.
  5. The Initial Investment includes 27 miles of rail service and 31 stations.
  6. Our plan is 7 billion. Light rail is a lot more expensive as our tunnels but yea I see your point the Amtrak estimate seems low.
  7. It would not take much to connect the proposed Blue Line light rail train to the high speed rail corridor already identified by Texas.
  8. I've always wondered if the tin foil hats you guys wear ever get itchy. They don't seem comfortable but do what you got to I guess.
  9. Maybe the times is saving Russia links for Thursday
  10. When someone calls something complex “common sense” then it’s a pretty good indication they don’t know what the fuck they are talking about.
  11. Does this qualify as voter suppression? https://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/2020/10/20/brevard-voters-threatened-emails-purportedly-proud-boys/5997458002/
  12. What are you suggesting?
  13. HA, the garage less hotel was originally a garageless condo project and because they couldn't get financing for a project like that with a city with so much congested mass transit they pivoted to a hotel. Yea, GREAT example. More people arriving by train means less people arriving by car. It's less congestion and less parking. Are some people who worked downtown going to be able to keep working from home? Yes, but THEY ARE JUST GOING TO BE REPLACED BY EMPLOYEES WHO CAN'T. Downtown real estate will always be filled by those who need it. All we are doing is changing who is downtown slightly and MAYBE lowering rent leases to the point where they can be filled by companies that need employees working in office. This is so fucking simple and people like you that think you are so much smarter than you are are royally fucking up our chance to avoid being auto congested on every fucking street with no other options. I'm so frustrated with people in this city right now. I know Austin has a high relative percentage of college graduates but I swear they all have to be liberal arts degrees or some shit. God damn.
  14. You’re avoiding the question. The issue isn’t if we would lose less than we do now but rather less in the future than if we didn’t have a real mass transit system.
  15. I would love to know how voting down prop a when the population is doubling in the next 20 years could possibly lead to a reduction of parking demand to the point that they are converted. That is bat shit crazy.

To clarify, there is no monorail in Prop A.
  17. Have at it. No local media will touch it.
  18. It's going to be hard to protest when they didn't raise appraisals at all this year.

Just a reminder that Prop A would fund a new train station at the stadium along with increased double tracking.
  20. She got her name in the statesman. Surprising a reporter literally asking readers for city hall "gossip" doesn't mention anything about the website documenting all her lying. https://www.statesman.com/news/20201016/will-voters-push-back-against-austin-city-councilrsquos-shift-to-left
  21. Voted on the Far East side of ATX on Tuesday. Super well run center. Best voting technology in the country. Vote YES on Prop A and B!
