  1. If I go this Saturday, I should be able to get access to the Miller Lite Lounge which means impossible to ignore the game
  2. Arguing with chainsaw... Spare yourselves I've put pimphand on ignore. Time to add someone else, it seems
  3. Hey tornados... cough cough... ahem...
  4. Yeah that's the thing... I'm waffling on going Saturday. Texas OU or ACL again. If I do ACL, I need to tell people who I know to not say anything about the game. I almost pulled it off 2 years ago until the end when someone told me 49-0. I watched the end of Texas OU waiting for Ben Kweller last year. My phone was about to melt in the heat.
  5. Was it last year and this year when certain races for Congress, judges, local officials in certain states showed Ds way outperforming polls? I'm trying to remember. I feel like there was a period where you would see someone polling maybe 4 points and then they'd win by 8 or something like that. Also, I know nothing at all about this race... this is NY 4 but how are races like this happening? I guess this is a seat that flipped last election but looks to flip back?
  6. I'm still trying to figure out who to see for Levitation. Will hit up BALTHVS at Waterloo this Friday. DJ Shadow later in the month Also, may jump on Blockhead... https://do512.com/events/2024/11/9/blockhead-tickets
  7. @jimmyjazz I got the billboard treatment from a friend after a poorly phrased comment in a WhatsApp group. If anyone is to blame its the guy who gave me the idea by raking me across the coals. Blame him.
  8. Yeah, I have been checking Google Maps and it looks like traffic on the roads is almost non-existent. One would think the bulk of people left so anyone leaving now while there is still time would be able to haul ass.
  9. Pretty crazy when you consider how far Weston is from the action.
  10. I think they finished building theirs in 2022 or so which would tell me its up to code but, man, cat 4 or 5, I don't know what to tell you. Family on the other side near Ponce Inlet should only have to ride out a cat 1.
  11. Any of you in Austin have a Saturday W2 wristband? Need to make my way back to Geese and Jungle.
  12. My buddy in Bradenton sent me a picture of the anticipated track overlaid with his house location.
  13. Thankful my friend in Bradenton finally GTFO. I suspect a lot of us were on his ass for staying there with his family.
  14. I'm case you want to catch BALTHVS before the weekend...
  15. Exactly it... the analysis of what would have happened to Houston had Rita hit, specifically in the ship channel, is exceedingly frightening. https://archive.ph/bRZ6R#selection-2413.0-2429.83 Local hurricane experts agree that a violent storm surge in the channel of at least 26 feet—a reasonable estimate for a category 4 storm that hits Galveston directly—would initially inundate densely populated, low-lying communities on the western half of Galveston Bay. Debris from those communities would then combine with thousands of shipping containers in the area, forming a destructive wall of steel and wood that would slam into thousands of chemical and crude oil storage tanks. Many tanks would be broken open by the battering ram of debris, while others would be ripped from their foundations by the water, releasing their deadly contents. A detailed inventory of hazardous chemicals around the Ship Channel remains difficult to come by, thanks to a Texas law that restricts public disclosure of information that could be utilized by terrorists. However, a 2016 Houston Chronicle investigation of the area’s dangerous chemicals revealed that communities near the Ship Channel live in close proximity to toxic substances, such as silane gas, methyl mercaptan, hydrofluoric acid, sodium sulfide, and ammonia. On at least three occasions, the investigation found, those substances have been released, killing workers and endangering nearby residents. The paper has also catalogued more than one hundred toxic releases during Hurricane Harvey alone, most of them from Houston’s petrochemical corridor.
  16. I remember seeing that dude at 3:06
  17. We have a friend in Bradenton and I'm texting him that he has to make his own decision but if he gas and supplies, he needs to GTFO. He would have a place to stay in Wellington on the other side... I hope he packs up and goes while there's time.
  18. To be honest, I think the Amex stage set up sucks ass. The VIP section is massive so even if you are "close" (we were two people back from the railing on Khruangbin), you are far away from the stage. The area is narrower, in general and it is flat whereas the Honda stage has a smaller VIP section and there are sections where slight contour can make for a better view unless you are too close down towards Miller Lite. I do lover how Miller Lite makes it easy to get close if you want or you can get a good view from the hill towards Miller Lite. This was Jungle from the hill but, like I said, if I go this Saturday my ass will be on the rail... Wide angle shot but you can see what I mean on Amex and Khruangbin. Half of the people in VIP are yappers guzzling free drinks. Give me the Tito's rail all day long... Also, more Geese, please!
  19. Yup... and @dcar00 alluded to it, as well. We saw about 10 minutes of the Pretty Lights set and the made our way down to Dua because my wife really wanted to see Dua Lipa over PL. We made our way past the Tito's tent, past the Amex lounge and over to one of the bar/VIP sections on the left of the stage. It was impossible to move. At one point our area started getting more and more jostled and we decided, "F this, let's go way back". We tried to make our way back and it was so full of people... lots of pushing and shoving and not much you could do. It was very uncomfortable. If there's one thing I've started learning during these insane shows is that sometimes it is impossible to move in the flow/lanes on the edges and they get really backed up... often because you hit a road block when there is a line for something like the refreshment stations. Sometimes the easier thing to do is go straight towards the center and zig zag your way through and back. I also think the people who build encampments with chairs and blankets and all kinds of crap make things harder. F chairs... sorry. Get them to the side, not the middle. That said, I may go back this weekend to go see Jungle again. This time, if I go, I'm going to get to the rail.
  20. Can't imagine it is that now
  21. Well you just pointed out You don't know who they are. In the EDM world, they are pretty big. Last year was ODESZA vs Hozier. I think you just ran into the situation where you literally had a massive pop star with no shows in the US You so everyone was there. You know a bigger star would not have wanted to go against Dua.
  22. "We're here to help the common man, just like us!"
