  1. Yup. Kim Ogg. Democrats didn't like her but Republicans haaaaated her... badly! But, hey, now she's on their team. LOL. Check out her favorability rating...
  2. Theo is interesting because it sounds like he is really trying to talk to someone and the conversation can flow well but other times he sounds really dense and uninformed. BUT he doesn't seem to have overwhelming opinions in the sense that he will listen to someone explain themselves so that his listeners can hear the perspective. I though Cuban did really well... someone who seems to be excellent at being empathetic but then taking the conversation back to his points, even if they run counter to Theo.
  3. I have to give the guy credit... he seemed to have a good personality and vibe. I can't say it was the greatest of shows but the guy was put into a pretty awkward situation. My wife and her friends were way up on Chappell Roan and I just wasn't that interested, primarily because I had gone 100% for all three days so I wandered over to San Holo (which was packed) and then to catch a bit of his set. So quiet back there. Yesterday I really enjoyed Glass Beams... then caught a bit of Bakar, half of the Myles Smith set then Cannons while our friends waited for Chappell Roan... over to San Holo then Dom Dolla (amazing DJ set) and Tyler the Creator. Geese turned out to be one of my big "never heard this band but they kick ass" surprises. The Criticals were good.. BALTHVS was great and I may go back to Antone's to see them this week. Still Woozy was meh. Khurangbin was awesome although the Khruangbin / BALTHVS similarities are weird (yes, we know who was first) despite BALTHVS having a harder, more psychedelic sound. Jungle was one of the best shows of the weekend. Then we caught a bit of Pretty Lights before going to Dua. Not kidding but 95% of the festival was at Dua with 5% at Pretty Lights. People talk about the Chappell Roan crowd but Dua was bigger. Yeah... I'm working backwards... Enjoyed Saint Cecilia. Good to see a band really getting their start. Sir Chloe has a good sound... I like her music. She's a little offputting just in her vibe. Mannequin Pussy one of the best shows of the weekend - so so good! Foster the People put on a fantastic show, Elderbrook was good but not mindblowing... I don't know... and then Porter Robinson was better than I expected. By that point on Monday, our son was whining incessantly and we left before Blink or Stapleton. I got a full 3 days in though... it was a great weekend! Saw bits and pieces of Britney Davis, PawPaw Rod, Benson Boone, Teddy Swims
  4. If you like them, you'll love Restless Leg Syndrome
  5. Man this sounds familiar... https://ehs.org.uk/fascistville-mussolinis-new-towns-and-the-persistence-of-neo-fascism/ At least the Italians used some forward-thinking architects. I have two guesses on what Dolan will use as his inspiration... Also - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_for_Births
  6. The last minute or so is awesome... I mean, its all good!
  7. Was talking to business partners in the UK and the topic of the VP debates came up. I mentioned that it was rather dry and boring but they said that even in the UK, they had heard about the "I thought you weren't going to fact check me" comment. LOL.
  8. I love that footage of Barton Springs Pool. That in and of itself makes Austin the best city in Texas. Fight me.
  9. I kind of like Paris in the wintertime... it is a very winter-friendly city to me. Have been there during cold months before and I liked it. My suggested itinerary... Then buy a Chamonix Unlimited pass for 6 days and ski up and down the valley. Done.
  10. Yeah I feel like YouTube TV sometimes makes it more challenging... trying to remember if I had an easier time using apps (like the ESPN app) or something similar. If you use Nord (my choice), here are the NA server locations below. I will connect to Italy to watch Italian TV and soccer games sometimes.
  11. Never given to a big charity have you? "Oh, I like charity... let me send them $25" Charity proceeds to spend $50 sending me mailers asking for more.
  12. If that's a pro-REM song, you're losing your case. That song sucks.
  13. Yeah, its amazing how there are times in Austin where you feel like you are on vacation and a world away from everything. Never been to St Cecilia but isn't that the hotel that some of the bigger musicians use to get away from everyone? Anyway... T-minus what... 49 hours?
  14. Gooooood luck... as an Italian, I will tell you - get a VPN set up and use your streaming option of choice.
  15. "Imma build here..."
  16. It will eventually be like Harvey... memories are short, people will move on and of course many will rebuild in dangerous areas. Just be sure to buy something higher up. Always look where the water flows... (signed, a former Houston resident)
  17. I've already seen one tell everyone to go and buy toilet paper. Great. Thanks for starting a run on the stores.
  18. To be honest, putting any of one's own money anywhere on the gulf coast... Galveston, Biloxi, Port A, Pensacola, whatever... a fool's errand.
  19. 91? I wish... don't believe it.
  20. I'm so dumb... totally forgot about Sisters of Mercy on Sunday... same with James and Johnny Marr. My screwup. Could you see Eldritch? Looked a tad foggy... kind of like Echo & The Bunnymen. "If its foggy enough, they won't know I'm old."
  21. Check your local/neighborhood FB pages. Usually a lot of people on there trying to unload at face.
  22. Have them hang out at Whitewater Amphitheater with their weed... they might change their tune. Know quite a few people popped there.
  23. Remember when the city of Houston tried to set rules on building in floodplains and the developers lost their minds? Yeah... they'd rather build floodable/destroyable cheap houses and then rebuild. In the end, it costs less to build well.
  24. Yeah, so this is the funny part... when we lived in Houston, we eventually realized lots of people we knew used marijuana but just hid it really well. We went to a party at a friend's house... well-off, suburban party and there were people hiding between two houses smoking weed. Fast forward to moving to Austin... nooooooo one hides it here. I'm not talking about going to Zilker or ACL... I mean, gobs of people... gummies, vape, OG joints. There are tons that use. In suburban places like Houston, people like to put on a little facade and hide it so there's more than we realize. In Austin, it is just out in the open.
