No, not really new but a great band and these free shows by auditorium shores are great! Best view in town for good live music. You can get the free tickets (have to get them in advance) through the Long Center.
Oh, and I'm pissed I missed this Je'Texas show. They're so good.
Its a quick overnight stay to split the trip... I'm not paying Destin summer prices for one night when I'm not really going to enjoy the beach for more than maybe an hour or two (if that). Well, I don't know... maybe not Destin. Maybe Pensacola? I don't know. Really is just a stop for the night.
Yeah, I kind of disagree. Learned to drive in Houston, live in Austin. Coming up on a combined 9 years here in Austin.
I'll take Austin. The idiocy is not as far-reaching here - smaller city, traffic is not as bad and the red light running in Houston is insanely bad. Like horribad and you are crazy if you jump that green. T-bone city.
Now... hey... can we talk SATX?
So you're driving from Palm Beach County back to Austin and you have to make an overnight stop around midway. I'm not stopping in NOLA because we will do that on the way. Below are my options - tell me where to stop and why or why not...
1. Mobile / Daphne, Alabama
2. Biloxi / Gulf Shores
3. ???
4. Profit
Note: Will have teenagers/family with me. I don't gamble.
There is a great cafe' in Ardmore called "Il Riposo" that has the best suppli and olive ascolane this side of the Atlantic. Ask the owner for his recommendations on wines from Le Marche. You'll be amazed by their selection. They have an amazing sparkling pecorino. Also, excellent espresso.
Just kidding. Maybe Starbucks on 35?
I found them while listening to "Amyl and the Sniffers Radio" (you know how Spotify has "radio stations" if you like a particular band. Anyway, I thought they were pretty good.
@jimmyjazz Check out Lambrini Girls... songs like "Love" or "Big Dick Energy". The whole Who Let The Dogs out album is something.
I used those in Amsterdam and saw them in Ghent, too. In Ghent they were funny because they were more like a line of urinals all side by side with little dividers but the front partition stopped at about shoulder high so you could look out and at people while peeing. Pretty funny.
No doubt. Had mother's day lunch out on the back patio yesterday... perfect weather to relax and enjoy the outdoors. This morning was 53. Glorious. That all ends but still, it was a great start to the month.
Definitely not referring to you. I know you're relatively on top of things. Having a musical family clearly helps, too.
I'm talking about the people that see the new lineup and complain because "uhhh I recognize three bands".
Caught The Point again on Saturday night at the Sahara Lounge. Man, their talent and the energy is so infectious. They brought the house down, again. All three of them are great but Nico Leophonte on drums always blows my mind. So good!
(Not from that particular show...)
Right?
I love the lineup and have already found some new bands but these guys who complain non-stop...
Picture yourself at 21 or 24 or 25
Some 50-year old whines about the lineup at ACL
Yeah, dude... that's you! Cut it out.
So September would be way better. Temperatures are still warm, prices drop, a lot less people. If you're thinking of only using a train, you could go to Riccione on the Adriatic side. Very Italian. If you have a car, from Rome you could look at Sperlonga (my family has been going there on/off since the 50s) or even go to Maremma to Talamone, Porto Ercole (swanky) or Porto Santo Stefano. If you can get to Ancona maybe with a train, look up Numana or Sirolo. We regularly go to Rimini. Honestly, the water is not the best you're going to find on the coast but for a family, it is unparalleled. There's always tons to do. Beach is wide and full of beach clubs. Very Italian.
It sure as hell will be at the beach. Guaranteed.
