  1. WTF... the rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated. Uh, I'm jetlagged... from California? Oh well... ChatGPT (Verse 1) Down in Austin town, where the stars shine bright, There's a legend folks talk about late into the night. With a twinkle in his eye and a hat on his head, Leslie took the stage, and the streets became his bed. (Chorus) Oh, Leslie, with your skirts so fine, You danced through the streets like a bottle of wine. You ran for Mayor with a heart so true, Though you didn't win, you left us all in awe of you. (Verse 2) He wore dresses and wigs, didn't care what they said, In a world of norms, he painted his own spread. With a feather boa 'round his neck, he'd strut his stuff, And in the city of weird, he couldn't get enough. (Chorus) Oh, Leslie, with your skirts so fine, You danced through the streets like a bottle of wine. You ran for Mayor with a heart so true, Though you didn't win, you left us all in awe of you. (Bridge) They say politics is serious, but Leslie knew better, He brought joy and laughter with every feather. He may not have won, but he sure did inspire, To be yourself, to dream big, and never tire. (Verse 3) Now Leslie's gone, but his spirit lives on, In every drag queen and king, in every break of dawn. So here's to Leslie, the Mayor of our hearts, In a city where weirdness is where the truest art starts. (Chorus) Oh, Leslie, with your skirts so fine, You danced through the streets like a bottle of wine. You ran for Mayor with a heart so true, Though you didn't win, you left us all in awe of you. (Tag) Oh Leslie, oh Leslie, you'll always be, The spark in our souls, wild and free.
  2. Elon does look intimidating, though... better supervillain vibe
  3. The demise of Leslie's death are greatly exaggerated
  4. Not only... they need to go after the liquor ads to really go bonkers. I went to a YMCA camp one year when I was in elementary school. First time I had really spent time away from my parents and I hated it. Went once and that was it. I remember a few things about camp... one was our counselor who was showing all of us how magazines use subliminal advertising to cause us to sin. Case in point... see this ice cube in this ad for Crow Royal? Yeah, ice cubes don't look like that... look at that cube... that's a demonic face there. See it? I kid you not. https://www.warc.com/newsandopinion/opinion/of-sex-and-ice-cubes-the-great-subliminal-advertising-scare/en-gb/2558
  5. Who wore it better? At least Bezos actually spent quite a bit of his childhood in Texas and is second cousins, once removed, with George Strait. Musk has his own relatives... https://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/the-world-according-to-elon-musks-grandfather#:~:text=In the nineteen-thirties%2C he,than the people%2C should rule.
  6. Gotcha... that makes sense.
  7. Read The Big Rich ( https://www.amazon.com/Big-Rich-Greatest-Texas-Fortunes/dp/0143116827 ) or about how LBJ and Lady Bird were treated in Dallas when he was VP. Texas has always had this undercurrent.
  8. Had more than one international trip extended thanks to hurricanes. Sometimes you're stuck in Paris, other times Newark.
  9. My thought exactly Are they mowing down that church?
  10. Time for COVID to snap out of it and get back to work
  11. Trust me dude. I'd like to pick up Austin and drop it over here. That said, as much as I love beach towns here, NB's MAGAness is frustrating
  12. Well man... what can I tell you... my ass is sitting in Newport Beach right now. Sign me up for a smaller place. Every time I set foot in CA, I question things...
  13. Honestly the best option. I can't overemphasize how much I hate the way that goes through Amarillo. Shoot, I'd even take the Roswell way and that's not pleasant.
  14. I've done that stretch once. Once Give me Muleshoe to Ft Sumner and the Clines Corner route anyway.
  15. Man, so many comments to make but I'll keep it short... For the mountains, I agree about dressing properly because your focus should be skiing/boarding as much as possible. On NM, I definitely found that locals in Taos "tolerate" you. Like, maybe they'll talk to you but they'd rather not. Santa Fe was better. Rest of the state? Oooffff. Tulsa is actually a decent little place. Very laid back. If you're stuck in OK it should be Tulsa. Good breweries, too.
  16. I saw a friend post on his FB that he left Austin to move to Dallas because it had more soul
  17. Congratulations on your Director's Cup, aggy!
  18. I would say sign me up but, yeah... I signed up for the "next best thing" when we moved back to Austin. Live music at the Continental Club on Friday night, lake Austin Saturday, Llano River Sunday... F living back in Houston again.
  19. How can this be? The system is rigged for the Biden family. Now... watch... "oh, this felony is different!"
  20. Speaking of CA the thought of beaches and skiing within reasonable reach plus SoCal weather... sign me up for that 1200 square foot house. I'll either be in the backyard or spending 90% of my time outdoors. So long as I'm stuck in Texas, wouldn't be anywhere else but Austin. And yeah even on this warming hellscape, you can catch me outdoors.
  21. Conner spelled with a K. Seems on-brand. Probably a big fan of homecooking from Karen's Kountry Kitchen in small town Texas.
  22. Second one is obvious ...unless the last name is Off or Offe
  23. Waiting for our fearless leader in Austin to explain why Austin is terrible. Don't sleep on Beaumont... just a few more spots to move into prime territory ahead of Dallas.
