  1. I go the code two days ago and then none of the pages let me even get to a place where I can enter a code to get in. Weird. I was going to buy tickets to COIN... was really looking forward to seeing them live. Welp - https://parade.com/news/coin-lead-singer-chase-lawrence-announces-band-breakup
  2. That water drops any further, we're going to be in trouble...
  3. This looks nice...
  4. Awesome - thank you!!!
  5. Made a big pot of ragù last night. I used to always make it without peas but many trips to Romagna have taught me to love it with peas. Had enough for last night's pasta and frozen four more portions.
  6. Not staying there yet. You'll have tell me if you bleed out.
  7. Staying at the red dot... I like to walk... a lot... and I know that can be dodgy in parts of NO. Given the location, where you would you avoid? I'm really hoping to get an answer that does not look like this...
  8. Been working on ski passes for France. Was going to book online if there was a discount but it turns out there is no benefit. One thing I like about ski passes in Europe... 1 - They're much cheaper 2 - Walkup rates are often the same as online 3 - You don't have to buy before some kind of deadline (Want an Epic pass? An Epic Day pass? Buy for the rate goes up!!!! OK... here's your last chance before the next price hike!!!!) 4 - You're not stuck with certain days (although Epic Day pass is great for just buying a block of days). Some resorts require you to be very specific on day passes. Weather sucks? Wind? Womp womp. Anyway, here is what a six day pass will get you for 325 Euro ($339) at the window or online at Serre Chevalier... so $56.00 a day gets you the main area plus options to go visit other ski areas. Mind you, my son's higher end all-mountain rentals are 33 Euro a day for skis/boots. Opted for a slightly more expensive store closer to our hotel. See below. Meanwhile, obligatory video... Serre Chevalier is made up of 4 sites: Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and Monêtier. Two different 6-day passes are available: either the Serre Chevalier Pass giving access to the entire Serre Chevalier area, or the Monêtier Pass allowing access to the Monêtier sector only. In addition, the Serre Chevalier Pass for 6 days or more includes the following benefits: Grande Galaxie’ agreement from 21.12.2024 (inter-resort agreement): 1 day free on each of the following ski areas: Alpe d'Huez except from 15 to 22.03.2025, Deux Alpes, Puy Saint-Vincent, Montgenèvre / Vialattea and Sestrières / Vialattea. Practicalities: Pass purchased at the Info Sales Point: go to the ticket office in the partner resort with the Serre Chevalier pass and the Galaxie voucher. Pass purchased from an automatic machine or by recharging online: pick up the Galaxie voucher at the Serre Chevalier Info-Point; present yourself at the ticket office in the partner resort with your Serre Chevalier pass and the Galaxie voucher. Pass purchased online without top-up: go to the ticket office in the partner resort with the Serre Chevalier pass and the Galaxie voucher received by post. Les Grands Bains du Monêtier: -10% off 1 2-hour entry during the period of validity of the Serre Chevalier Pass on presentation of the pass and proof of purchase at the Grands Bains ticket office [excluding school holiday periods and weekends]. 25% discount on the adult day ski pass at La Grave (on presentation of the pass and proof of purchase at the La Grave ticket office).
  9. If your goal is Pompeii and Herculaneum and other sites like that, it feels like Sorrento would not be a great base. Also, good call on Ischia over Capri as it may be less overrun.
  10. Exactly when I bought my Black Crows with a nice set of Tyrolia bindings. Price was way lower. Also, look outside the US as sometimes you can get good deals through reputable shops. Found mine in Scotland and had them shipped. Still saved quite a bit.
  11. If you're in Austin, I would strongly recommend you sign up for AFD's SIZE program. Two firefighters from the wildfire division will come review your property and provide guidance to make it more defensible in case of a wildfire. Won't cost you a penny. Now... I have a question. I've heard about putting 1/8" mesh over soffits to prevent embers from coming in the holes. We have Hardie soffits (and siding) and while I understand the need for mesh, it feels like our vents/holes are very small. Any thoughts? Here's a picture...
  12. That can happen in Cervinia/Zermatt because of high winds. I really want to check out the Swiss Wall, though. Same goes for the Tunnel run in Aloe d'Huez which I hear is mostly much ado about nothing.
  13. I'm very happy find out that Italians use the leopards eating faces meme as well...
  14. Those are so rewarding for the skier and the audience. Somewhere I have a picture of my cousin eating it at Breckenridge. He ate it at the top of a steep black run and slid all the way to the bottom. His skis stayed at the top and he had to climb up and get them
  15. Any suggestions on places to catch live music in New Orleans? I'm thinking of places like Empire/Mohawk/Continental Club/Scoot Inn... basically places to see good bands but not necessarily typical New Orleans jazz
  16. Definite oops... green onions/scallions
  17. But, here you go... https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a58253/best-homemade-chili-recipe/ I used fire roasted tomatoes I adjusted spices to my taste/family's taste and use ancho chili powder I did not drain the fat and used 2 lbs I replaced kidney with black beans *gasp* Sour cream not allowed anywhere near my chili Also had sliced tabasco peppers for toppings with the green beans and cheese Yes, Fritos were present
  18. Maybe I can get a picture of the minimal leftovers
  19. Made some chili last night that came out exceptionally well. Made one tweak and used fire roasted tomato this time. Oh... and I put in black beans and I don't care.
  20. Fully aware. Just like Cincinnati Chili ain't chili
  21. Missed the rocks so success!
  22. Like this...
  23. Yeah, like I said... I see L&L and I know think that place. Still weird going to Leroy & Lewis' new location vs the Cosmic food truck. Anyway, have a Hawaiian friend who swears by L&L. Its like the Hawaiian McDonald's. 200 locations, mostly HI and the west coast.
  24. I'm assuming L&L is Leroy & Lewis 'cause the only L&L I know is the Hawaiian chain on William Cannon
  25. Working on arranging ski rental for my youngest son... I am working on getting him more used to all-mountain skis and better equipment so we can go do more off piste. Anyway, I'm always fascinated by how much cheaper it is to rent in many European resorts (found this particularly the case in the southern French Alps) vs the US. This is for 6 days... pretty sure comparable skis + booths in place where we've rented before in the US would be $300 + tax for 6 days
