  1. jose abreu is on the books at 19.5M and pressly at 14M so you invented an extra 11.5M there.
  2. nobody drinks beer anymore, don’t yall read the trades?
  3. when i first started exploring beers beyond keystone light in college, sam smith’s oatmeal stout and newcastle were my favorite splurge beers. haven’t had either in probably a decade.
  4. National Championship game should be permanently played in Las Vegas the Rose Bowl.
  5. I don’t think there is a dedicated Belgium thread, and I spent a week there earlier this month, so figured I’d make a thread. This was kid-free trip with the wife to drink Belgian beer, eat Belgian food, and check out some European Christmas markets. Flew Houston to Chicago to Brussels, arriving Friday morning. Took train from airport to Bruxelles Central Station and walked about 1/4 mile to check into Hotel Agora Bruxelles Grand Place. Hotel is about 2 short blocks from the Grand Place, which is cool to look at, but not much to do there other than check out the Christmas light show at night. We avoided the tourist trap cafes surrounding it. After checking in, we walked through Grand Place and then had lunch at a cheese & wine shop called La Fruitiere, followed by a Taras Boulba and Drie Fonteinen Kriek at Moeder Lambic, an absolute must-visit beer bar. Next stop was Cantillon, where we did the self-guided tour, followed by tasting in their little taproom. Back to hotel to nap and then set out again to have a couple beers at Brussels Beer Project before dinner. BBP is like a modern American taproom focusing on small batch beers, including hazy IPAs. Beers were good, but not what I travelled to Belgium for. Croquettes, mussels, and frites at La Marre and then some quads at Poechenellekelder, an awesome old beer bar with walls covered in creepy marionettes. will follow up with much more
  6. if you don’t literally love jose altuve, are you really an astros fan?
  7. arenado has posted two consecutive sub-.800 seasons and had 39 xbh in 2024 to bregman’s 58 in almost exactly the same number of AB, in a season most of us considered sub-par for bregman.
  8. Bevo will not travel to the SEC CG, according to a connected Silver Spur alum buddy of mine.
  9. anybody at the Texas Craft Brewers Festival in Austin today?
  10. i find it difficult to believe anyone LOL’d at this.
  11. these voodoo brewpubs are just taproom restaurants. they don’t brew a goddamned thing. just ship beer down from PA. there is one in katy that i hope meets the same fate.
  12. i don’t buy or consume much real ale, but i think axis is the best widely distributed texas IPA and i’m pretty sure it was created after erik left.
  13. bottlecap’s new austin chronicle’s rankings up and jeff stuffings may not be a fan. https://www.austinchronicle.com/daily/food/2024-10-17/austins-best-breweries-of-2024-power-ranked/
  14. why on earth would you swap an elite offensive catcher for an average offensive 1B? 1B is the easiest and cheapest position to upgrade.
  15. they cannot let bregman walk. not a serious franchise if that happens. i’d fire espada and money-whip francona.
  16. absolute fucking idiocy to use hader here. i haven’t been bitching at espada all season, but i genuinely don’t know how the fuck you justify this.
  17. Altuve AB exit velocities: 81mph fly out on first pitch change 72mph bloop single on 4th pitch change 85mph fly out on first pitch change
  18. you’re neglecting profits made from owning the club in those 16 years. they topped 2.4 million attendance in 12 of those and topped 3 milion 4 times.
  19. my guess is they want caratini to have more experience catching kikuchi for the playoffs since he’s been here the shortest amount of time and salazar won’t ever catch a starter in the postseason.
