  1. one would think that with their home stadium being the "hardest place to play in the country" they would win more conference games at home. over last 5 years (excluding the 2020 COVID outlier year) they 12-6 in conference at home lol if you want a real big laugh, over the same timeframe overall they are 25-7 thanks to playing such awesome teams at home like SHSU, Lamar, PV A&M, ULa-Monroe, UAB, Kent State, New Mexico, UMass and ACU.
  2. not among baseball coaches, Texas hasn't. worst conference winning% by a coach since records existed back to 1911 2nd worst overall win% by a coach at Texas since 1911 no national championships lost his first game in all 3 CWS 0-2 in Omaha in 2018, 0-2 in 2022. i think everyone can generally agree it was time to move on, especially if there is any truth to the Hurley story with folks being ready to turn in uniforms. looking forward to seeing the next coach hired. wish him the best, but it was time.
  3. you have the perfect storm w/r/t the guy no track record in Texas as a player or coach no track record or skins on the wall as a college coach no knowledge of the guy by in state recruits weird setup with DL/EDGE guys from Texas (right now, Texas has 1 RSFR DL on the team from Texas in Vasek, 1 RS SO from Texas in Bledsoe, 1 Junior in Burke) - there are 2 EEs that help but there is very little overlap between guys who are campus from Texas and who know DL recruits so hard to share that he's good or shit with them no real track record of putting dudes in the league - one guy from Western Kentucky in 2022 who has averaged <1 tackle per game as a pro, including 5 total takles in 17 games he played last year) i said it above. he's either going to be toast by december or the team will have some kind of positive results from him around development and he will be personable and a good recruiter with NIL help / Sark and the rest of the rainmakers on staff. sucks they didnt/couldn't get a better dude but he is what he is. here's hoping he kills it.
  4. i love flight tracking season
  5. Mac may be the single worst sportswriter in the state
  6. i'm probably the biggest Danny Ric fan on this board, but he is waht he is - and even then it was the correct decision. totally get it.
  7. there is a house on the PCH right next to that Dairy Queen and TK Burgers that i can't even imagine what it's worth. saw a guy out watering one morning, and i would show it on streetview but they blocked it. it's in iffy shape but it's an incredible location
  8. the space stuff is an issue in my world around names specifically. yours is a better option for probably everything else haha

    Whatcha reading?

it's not the exact same but i saw someone in the airport this weekend reading a hard back copy of volume 1 of Caro's LBJ book, which is like 900 pages and like 3 lbs (not the 4 of Power Broker per Amazon) i did a double take, but the guy was so focused in the book he didn't see me.
  10. food recs: Sur Coffee - fantastic coffee shop that i was was local to me here in Texas. really good spot to sit and read in the morning. tried a few coffee places but always ended up coming back here. great cortado. Normita's Surf City Tacos - awesome experience, cash only place that had easily the best fish tacos i had on the trip. skip the "plate" which comes with rice and beans, just order 2 tacos instead. CASH ONLY Red O Taste of Mexico (Newport) - didn't choose this place but they had some damn good food across the board. higher end, but a really cool spot. Zero Zero 39 Pizzeria - Roman style pizza, just off near main street. Awesome spot to get a slice to go or sit. their burrata pizza was awesome. Bear Flag Fish Co - just across the PCH from the beach. pretty good fish taco but they sold a ton of poke bowls while i was there. go and get a beer, eat your taco and enjoy the view of the ocean. it's in Pacific City if that makes a difference, just past the resorts on PCH other spots that made my list but i didn't get to: RIIP Pizza and Beer - brewery with awesome detroit style pizza John's Philly Grille - known for cheesesteaks but also do hot and cold hoagies Fiesta Grill - fish tacos Sugar Shack - well known/popular breakfast spot, but line was too long
  11. mind sharing how much those ended up running you? they look sharp as hell!
  12. Orange is their natural enemy?! at this point A&M's natural enemy seems to be winning anything of value.
  13. Williams was pretty well known to be headed to OU before he even entered the portal. come on man. they are who incentivized him to enter in the first place. was also pretty clear UCLA NIL stepped up with regard to Toia look man, Texas is going to struggle with Baker until the season starts. unknown dude across the board until the season starts and they can either point to development along the DL, have existing recruits talk about how good he is to HS players (which won't happen until later anyway), or the DL starts putting up numbers. either way it is what it is and wasn't some shocking thing to the coaches. i am far from a fan of the Baker hire but he's literally going to be here until December at the earliest. if he grinds his ass off there's a good chance he ends up as a good hire. if not, he's going to get a pink slip in December/January.
  14. Texas Offense/Defense split of top 10 commits in the last few classes. highlighted Athletes and where they went 2024: 5/5 (Wardell Mack on defense) 2023: 5/5 (Jaleni McDonald on defense, Ryan ZNiblett on offense) 2022: 5/5 (Brenen Thompson on offense) 2021: 4/6 (JT Sanders on offense) *** the coaching out of position is an absolute non starter. both have history coaching DBs exclusively. Gideon's coaching history is exclusively DBs Terry Joseph's coaching history: 3 years as DB coach at ND 1 year as DB coach at UNC 3 years as DB coach for A&M 2 years as DB coach at Nebraska 2 years as DB coach at Tenn 2 years as DB coach at LaTech
  15. if folks are coming into this in the future and have a specific issue like this, your friend is: =TRIM(cell to clean here) so "=TRIM(A1)" i'm sure @Dahobbs knows this - not calling him out specifically, just dropping it in here for others in the future

no kidding, currently at 47% on RT https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/horizon_an_american_saga_chapter_1/reviews did i mention it's a 3 hour movie, which is absolute insanity in 2024.
  17. since Imola: Checo having the same # of points as Lance Stroll and 3 points more than Yuki/PIERREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE GASSSSSSSLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY 4 points more than Danny Ric/Ocon kind of says it all. edit: evidently someone (Horner?) said it's a 1+1 contract, not a 2 year deal for Checo. which makes it better.
  18. no, that's actually the easiest one to answer https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/inside-story-elon-musks-mass-firings-tesla-supercharger-staff-2024-05-15/
  19. that's a story i want to hear from whoever the person may be
  20. Jalopnik: Even The Tesla Cybertruck’s Bed Length Is A Lie text: That’s right. If the object you intend to carry is over 30” tall, it can only be 4” 11” because it no longer fits in the bed with the tailgate up. For reference, the Ford Maverick – the smallest truck on sale today in the U.S. – has a bed length only five inches shorter than that, and that truck is nearly two feet shorter in overall length. You can see the problem from a diagram in the Cybertruck’s owner’s manual. Look how uneven the bulkhead of the cargo bed is in the figure above. Sure, near the floor the length may be 6'1", but that size quickly shrinks. I should also note that the exact dimensions that were mentioned in the video cannot be found in the owner’s manual. It almost looks as if they were deleted from the manual because is molesrcool’s video, they are visible to the right of the figure I included here. Strange. As molesrcool correctly points out, there’s a very good reason that just about every other truck maker do their best to make their beds a perfect rectangle with a flat back; you can fit more of your shit in a rectangle than whatever shape the Cybertruck’s bed is. On top of that, other trucks don’t have those very high, sloping walls on either side of their beds that make getting things in and out more difficult. To be fair, none of this really matters. If I had to hazard a guess, 99.999998 percent of all Cybertruck owners aren’t using their trucks for actual truck stuff, so the fact the bed is a dumb shape isn’t going to impact them. This is just the latest in an ever-increasing series of design blunders that are coming to light in Tesla’s flagship vehicle.
