  1. The lost in the woods episode was way worse. I mean, I get what they were trying to go for, but the writing was just bad and I found myself just waiting for it to end.
  2. Well, they did name an actual war after their vehicles...
  3. In the five or so years that they've had it, how many times have they really needed it?
  4. How much of this (if any) can be attributed to the tightening of lending standards post 2009? It's pretty generally accepted that renting costs more than owning, albeit with less risk if the market tanks. But to own, one generally needs capital and financial discipline to qualify for a mortgage. With tighter standards, fewer people can qualify. But that doesn't mean the demand for homes to live in has gone down. Which leaves renting. And to rent, somebody else has to own it. Looking at the graph posted on page one, it seems like the trend really started taking off post financial crisis. Which is exactly what one should expect following a tightening of lending standards.
  5. Not an REK fan, I take it?
  6. Yeah, but you told them to write it up as oil so he never knew the difference.
  7. Strap a dildo to a dolphin and they will evolve to use tools pretty quickly.
  8. I have no doubt that plenty of UFO sightings are advanced stuff we have, but many credible sightings match closely with sightings from long before we even had precursor technology for that stuff. As far as the Fermi Paradox goes, it's core assumption is flawed.
  9. If I recall correctly, Mexico is in a similar situation to us, in that their birthrate is not high enough to replace their workers. And their citizens emigrating to the US doesn't help. I wonder if they are banking on those extra folks to add to their workforce. The system we have where we need continuously expanding populations just isn’t sustainable. Not for us. Not for the rest of the world. And while I support letting folks who want to work and have a shot at the American dream in, it is probably just kicking the can down the street, with even worse consequences for the rest of the world.
  10. And what is up with this infatuation with Trinity? I was in Jr High when The Matrix came out and never really understood why so many folks seem to get worked up about some actress who isn't even remotely attractive. If someone posted a picture of her on the celebrity wtf thread, I wouldn't question whether or not she belonged there.
  11. Yeah, it was interesting enough. Lol at the comparisons to the prequels.
  12. I'm pretty sure if Sid can mutilate them and blow them up, the only way they can really die is to be incinerated.
  13. The 5 oz is the thickness of the leather. A 1 sqft piece will weigh 5 oz.
  14. It's a 9mm Flobert with an extended case. Very cutting edge.
  15. I didn't hear it, I've spent the last nine years doing R&D. I've read enough patents and tried reproducing enough of them to know that it's not like following the directions on a Lego set.
  16. Patents don't generally give out the level of detail needed to reproduce something without doing a lot of work. They also aren't all published. If the government deems your patent critical to national security, it gets squirreled away for them to do with it whatever they please. And lol at the notion that a patent undergoes the same kind of examination that peer review does.
  17. Don't you put that evil on me. Elmo is an idiot, but so is that other person.
  18. Oh, OK. So all the technology developed by private companies in house so they can patent it and profit from their research isn't science. All the stuff developed by DARPA isn't science. None of that stuff actually exists because it wasn't science. That new stealth bomber? Lies, because it wasn't published in a peer reviewed journal.
  19. We should get our own AI bot/poster that is trained only on this site.
  20. When a few people in congress (who are in the pockets of the military industrial complex) kill or neuter a bill that basically just says any technology derived from non human intelligence has to be surrendered to the government, and you think there is nothing to see there, that makes you the conspiracy theorist. Trust the people who have been proven to lie to us repeatedly and by their own admission, not the whistleblowers! Especially when they are senior members of the government. Because we can't trust them after all...
  21. Well, apparently saying "Taylor Swift is the Nickleback of pop music" is fighting words. Doesn't make it less true.
  22. FYI, if you are trying to remember what that show was you watched as a little kid with the cowboy and the robot horse in space, it is called Bravestarr, and it is only on YouTube. But it is all there in all of its glory.
  23. Not to detract from her skills, but there is a big difference in field stripping a rifle and trying to remove a stuck sight from a rail. Why it is so stuck is probably the better question. And why are the sights on a rail mounted on the dust cover. That's like the least stable part of one of those rifles.
  24. Sacrilege. Revolvers are still awesome. Glocks are great, but they suck.
  25. The DOD can't account for 1.9 trillion dollars worth of assets. Maybe we should start holding them accountable for the money we give them and go from there when we set their budget.
