  1. I'm pretty rough on watches. I'm pretty consistently wrenching on something or doing some other type of work that eventually leads to it getting covered in scratches. I try to remember to take my watch off before doing any kind of work in tight spaces where it is likely to get scratched, but sometimes I forget, and sometimes I don't have the time to. So I generally only wear cheaper watches (although I do have an affinity towards automatic movements). I just ordered a timex expedition for like $30 because I know it will get beat up pretty quickly. However, I am considering one of these for the sapphire glass and Seiko automatic movement at a dirt cheap price. Maybe it will survive a bit longer, and I can always (maybe) replace the glass or movement in the future if they become an issue.
  2. I think a key factor we are missing in this discussion is pay for workers. Yes, it is alluded to, but the fact that wages have stagnated is really the elephant in the room. I could care less if CEO's were making record amounts of money if workers were also doing the same. The ever expanding pie of capitalism works decently enough I everybody gets an ever expanding piece of it. But when CEO's are getting the ever expanding share and the share that the workers get stays the same while inflation bumps up key things like the cost of housing up 40% in one year and when food is a major driver of inflation (affects those with more kids disproportionately), then we have a serious problem. We have fewer workers doing more work because workers are generally more skilled, but those extra skills aren't translating into more income despite the extra education they have to acquire along with the associated debts to get those jobs.
  3. When I was involved with the local VFD we had an app that would go off for every 911 call with a little description of what it was. Seems like they just don't want these ladies getting in the way all the time.
  4. I was born in '85, so I missed out on a lot of the more adult movies of the 90's until I was older. But over the years I have come to realize that the late 80's through 90's was truly a renaissance of movie making. If they had the technology we have now to make the movies they made back then...well they probably would have used it as a crutch like they do today.
  5. I can't scroll when there is an embedded tweet taking up the screen unless I manage to touch the very edge of the screen. Chrome on Android. My phone just updated yesterday morning, so maybe something to do with that?
  6. Just got caught up with episode 2. That was an extremely excellent episode. This might put a damper on my rewatch of The Clone Wars, which I've got to complete before the Ahsoka series come out.
  7. Probably just need to read further down in the comments.
  8. It's happened in the past before. But even better, the district judge ruled in favor of the defendant knowing that the defendant would have to go into hiding for being a snitch and would not pay a lawyer to argue the case in front of the Supreme Court, thereby almost guaranteeing the desired outcome.
  9. Am I the only one who hears his voice in my head almost as if these gifs have sound?
  10. How nice of them to put on such a fireworks show to celebrate the 4th of July!
  11. Nick Sobotka's wife's tites is the search you are looking for.
  12. Well, their logistics are clearly improving as they are now using pallets.
  13. If, the bolded part is true, and I'd need solid evidence that it is, I'd argue that pragmatically this is a decent argument for legacy admissions. Yeah, on the surface it sucks that kids who don't really deserve it get in, but if it results in donations that allow them to give scholarships to kids who couldn't otherwise afford it then maybe it is something that we should consider keeping around.
  14. I think what keeps Deadwood in the legendary status is it's content.
  15. Osprey Poco Plus if you want something that will last for years through multiple kids and still have some resell value afterwards.
  16. So we have a bit of a beaver problem. We have series of dams that have been built below a pond that have made some of our creek crossings uncrossable. We have a couple conibear traps, but the family is a bit concerned about non beaver animals getting caught in them. I showed them how to set them and how you can run a pole through the springs so that they only catch what is swimming through them. I guess my question is has anybody had luck using night vision tactics to get rid of them versus putting traps out? Obviously we need to get rid of the source versus destroying the dams, but we can't be out there every day to check the traps, and I would kind of like to keep the pelts to tan them for some of my leatherworking projects.
  17. I'm sure I had something for this. But I guess I overestimated myself. Welcome to the 2010's I guess?
  18. Also, she's like 48 guys. She looks 10 years older. If she was as old as she looks, yeah, I'd get it. But she's not.
  19. Just watched the first couple of episodes tonight, but the writers and everybody involved with the show do such an excellent job with even the little things. In the first episode scene with BJ and Judy where he is wearing that pink suit, the shirt he has on buttons up like a woman's shirt with the buttons on the right and the button holes on the left, while the shirt Judy is wearing buttons up like a men's shirt with the buttons on the right and the button holes on the left. The scene with the militia in episode two, the militia folks are calling the Gemstones charlatans and such, and actually doing and saying things that the church is supposed to be doing, except for the fact that they are a militia with the stars and bars flag of the confederacy (not the battle flag, but the actual flag of the Confederacy) hanging in the background.
