  1. He never denied being a gypsy.
  2. That person wouldn't make a very good OSHA inspector. Or maybe they would, depending on your perspective.
  3. You shouldn't speak to your mother like that.
  4. Are you a gypsy?
  5. I just checked, and AWD passed 50% of car sales in 2020, so there are going to be lots of folks that have never learned on FWD or RWD soon.
  6. Isn't a lot of this stuff pretty much in theater by the time it is announced? This would jive with the videos of Abrams on trains headed through eastern Europe.
  7. As soon as my kids are out of carseats and I don't need the extra space in the back seat I will be buying something like this. Anything that I need to pull can be pulled with my wife's vehicle, and that is perfectly fine for most uses I need a truck for. I miss how my old 94 Ranger with a five speed 4.0 drove.
  8. Two big reasons why trucks have gotten bigger: 1. Men, who are more likely to drive trucks, generally take a more proactive role in their family. Your grandad with the small single cab didn't load up his children in his pickup truck to bring them to town get pick up feed or lumber or whatever, and if he did they weren't strapped into rear facing car seats. Heck, he might have just tossed them in the bed. Fathers these days are much more likely to be hauling kids around when they are doing things that require a truck, so they need full size back seats that can fit rear facing car seats up to teenagers. 2. Emissions rules enacted under the Obama (no CR, just giving a general time frame for reference) made it easier for vehicles with larger footprints to meet emissions requirements. So naturally, vehicles across the board got larger.
  9. The Hilux wouldn't sell that well here after people realize that they can't tow very much and are instead made to carry a lot of weight in the bed, which doesn't do the average American much good.
  10. What this all boils down to is you are pissed that folks are insisting that maybe people should be a little safer around something that can easily kill another human being if it isn't handled properly. You are actually arguing for less safety and getting emotional enough that you called people arguing for more safety "retards." You might want to take a step back, take a deep breath, and do a little self evaluation. Because in your current state of mind you embody everything you hate.
  11. A pop up is a great balance between tent camping and a full blown RV. If you are the type that likes to camp off the grid on public land with less than ideal roads, look into an axle flip for it. It will give you more ground clearance for some of those rougher forest service or BLM roads.
  12. I don't have an axe to grind against Alec Baldwin. He's a pretty good comedic actor and he played the best Jack Ryan. I could really care less about his political views or any of that, and I generally think this incident is more of an indictment against how the industry handles gun safety than an indictment against him barring some information coming out about it that says he was aware of safety concerns on the set and was flippant about them yadda yadda yadda... But, while admittedly I didn't read the article, the quote you posted reads like satire. The whole situation and people's reactions to it feels like some sort of satirical bizarro world. We have posts from people who grew up around guns saying that they needed to control their guns better, all the while people on the opposite end of the spectrum are insisting that they didn't need to control their guns better and suggesting they did is a slippery slope. @henrygandorf couldn't write a better comedic strip. Except this time it isn't comedy and somebody died.
  13. Yup. I have a .44 mag snubby I carry when hiking out west along with bear spray. The bear spray is to deter a bear attack. The snubby is in case the bear spray doesn't work. It used to be that the standard advice was bear spray is more effective than a firearm, but that advice was based on poor understandings of the scientific literature at the time. Even the authors of the studies that were used to justify that point of view have said that folks were comparing apples to oranges. Bear spray is great for preventing seemingly aggressive bears from getting near you, but if you decide you are just going to shoot any bear that makes you feel threatened you could be in for a rude awakening of the type that doesn't involve female genitalia. Once an attack is actually underway, the bear spray looses most of its efficacy and a surprising number of firearm calibers that used to be considered inadequate have been shown to be effective.
  14. A single action revolver like the model he had won't allow you to lower the hammer back down unless you pull the trigger. The trigger has to be held down the whole way down or it will catch on the half cock notch and then jam up. There's no way it happened unless he was pulling the trigger. Now, given the information we know, I don't know that I would find him at fault for not checking the gun. The apparent standard procedure with guns is ridiculous from the perspective of someone who has been around guns my entire life, but if it is standard procedure I think that is more of an indictment on Hollywood than Alec Baldwin. In my opinion, if you are going to be handling firearms on a movie set, you should be required to be familiar with them and safe handling of them just like with any other job that involves potentially dangerous tasks, but that isn't how it is. The practicing your draw with people in the line of fire is really the big issue. They should be a huge no no according to normal firearms safety. On the one hand, it is pretty much required at times due to the job description. But on the other hand, Hollywood doesn't follow normal safe handling procedures and it is accepted, so maybe he shouldn't be culpable there as well. I think what this will come down to is how much power did he have about hiring decisions with regards to the armorer. Their were apparently a lot of people who weren't happy with the way she was handling things, so much so that they almost walked off the job. If he had the power to make decisions regarding her employment and ignored those concerns and still did what he did without making sure that everything was safe, then he may have some culpability.
  15. That 90's Show has knocked it out of the park for the first three episodes I watched tonight. They did a great job of giving it the same feel as That 70's Show, and they nailed the casting from what I've seen. The actors who are supposed to be kids of the original cast actually look like they could be their kids and do a great job of picking up on their "parents" characteristics. I wish there was more than ten episodes.
  16. Osage Orange is the proper common name if you want to get technical.
  17. How long before somebody posts up the Waco Christmas lights story or something from the worst sequel experiences MSpaint thread?
  18. First it was level-actions, and now it's Mi Garands?
  19. While I do love a good level-action, an AR-10 in .45-70 Auto would make me feel a little better about a charging polar bear.
  20. It's crazy thinking back how far things have come in the last year. I mean, a year ago we were talking about how there was no way Europe would be able to wean itself off of Russian natty gas any time soon. Of course, most people didn't think Russia would actually invade but it happened. Then Ukraine started fighting back and the president who nobody really thought much of stepped up and said I need ammo, not a ride. Molotov cocktails were made assembly line style and old ladies attacked drones with jars of pickles. The Russians ran out of fuel and farmers were capturing tanks with tractors. Meanwhile Ukrainians made ticktok videos about how to drive Russian tanks and Ukraine declared that those captured Russian tanks would be tax free. All of that seems so long ago now, yet all of it happened in the last year.
  21. Mark Wahlberg is also a prohibited person and can't actually be in possession of a proper gun if I recall correctly. He has to have fake guns that have pretend recoil and stuff like that to shoot his scenes.
  22. Transfer fees are going up across the board for several factors. Inflation of course is a big one, but increased regulation by the ATF (having to keep 4473's on hand indefinitely, etc.) and increased sales via the internet vs in shop sales are playing a role as well. It's kind of a merry go round for a lot of shops when they price guns much higher than the going rate on internet sites and lose sales because of it. So then they have to increase transfer fees to stay afloat. Of course, they could try and price their products competitively enough to keep people buying in the store versus ordering them online, but they can't all keep the inventory required to make the volume of sales needed to do that, especially in the current environment when even big box stores don't have a lot of the popular stuff. So not enough people even try to shop local. Best bet is to find a big local shop that has decent prices and can move the volume needed to offer low transfer fees or an FFL that runs their business out of their house as a side gig and sees internet sales as bonus money. Many of these places will offer discounts if you have an LTC. But, yeah, $80 is basically saying they don't want to do it and screw you if you are looking for something hard to find that pretty much has to be ordered online.
  23. Looks like we need to send Ukraine Lightsabers.
  24. Since you can see the bullets in the cylinder when a single action revolver is pointed at the camera, that would be one of those situations. Color coding the base or the round depending on whether it is a dummy or blank would be a real easy thing for people to be able to check without having to physically remove the round from the weapon.
  25. Yep. I believe it was a Pietta repro, so it could have been a three click or a four click, not that it matters. Wheel gun goes boom. Apparently they aren't allowed get anywhere close to the boomy bits. They are supposed to trust the armorer, which is insane.
