  1. Oaxaca City is badass and you are definitely doing it wrong if you don't have a 4 hour lunch at Criollo while sipping mezcal
  2. I was at the Washington Square Hotel right across the street. Somehow I managed 2 nights for ~$700 during the UN General Session when even the Springhill Suites was going for $800/night. There was linoleum on the floor of the room and the bed inexplicably had rollers on it. Strange, but ultimately a non-issue. Love the neighborhood, and if your business takes you to both downtown and midtown, there isn't a more convenient location. 20 minutes each way
  3. Late to the game on this one, but we started it last week and have binged our way halfway through S3. It's a terrific show. I'm a huge Maron fan, and thought his role in this was only a bit part. Had no idea he was a main player. Lots of his standup schtick shows up in his dialogue, but it works, and his self-reflection and emotional honesty is 100% on-brand.
  4. just got caught back up and this show is still very good. Not liking at all where Frankie's dumbassedry is leading, but they've been setting that up since the pilot. Also, that strange confusion of the early days of the AIDS epidemic aside, it is curious that millionaire has zero reservations about sexing former prostitute turned porn star.
  5. perhaps the greatest bit of philatelic humor in movie history, and a damn good money spender too
  6. Dinner at Babbo was fantastic. No pics. Had the pig's foot milanese and the gnocchi with braised oxtails. Both were delicious. I audibly laughed when the pig's foot came out because it had been pounded thin (what else was I expecting) and looked like Barf's foot after it gets crushed in Spaceballs. I may never not stay in the village again. Had work downtown and midtown, and it was perfectly situated to get to both in <20 mins.
  7. furk. On another note, if one is staying across the street from Babbo, does one really need to look further in the area for a one-night dining option?
  8. I would keep going to 110th. There's some cool topography and trails in the north side of the park. Keep in mind that every feature you see in the park is man made. Every outcropping was carved into the bedrock, every babbling brook has a valve somewhere that will shut it off
  9. I was hesitant for many reasons, but caved a couple of years ago. Been on rosuvastatin, no side effects.
  10. concur entirely. I just spent a few minutes reading about the movie and seeing the phrase liberatis tutemet ex infera literally sent chills up my spine. I love the whole premise of the movie, the construction of the gravity drive, and the sheer friggin terror of the whole affair. And to have pulled it all off in that twilight period between advanced special effects and full-blown CGI meltdown--standing ovation, slow clap, 100% in for this series if it gets made
  11. My Saeco shit the bed about six months ago and I dropped it off at Espresso RMI in Dallas back in July. Picking it up Friday morning after about $300 in diagnostic and repair costs. I am beyond excite. I've gotten used to not having push-button espresso first thing in the am, but I'm looking forward to getting right back on the horse
  12. Did a quick weekend recently to take some clients to the Houston v. NYCFC game. I have not been since construction turned LGA into worse of a shitshow than its previous incarnation. The shuttle to the cab stand wasn't working, so I somehow managed to find an uber driver that was willing to brave the hellscape for the meager fare to Flushing and crushed an order of Szechuan Wontons at the White Bear on Prince Street. An uber from LGA to the UWS was going to run $70. $13 to flushing, $7 for wontons, and $14 for a LIRR ticket to Penn. Won that round. Spent some time running the westside greenway and did a 12 mile run in Central Park. Along the way I hopped a citi bike and rode it from 77th and Madison to 39th and 5th in Brooklyn. Nothing like pretending you're Quicksilver Kevin Bacon on a 50lb lumbering beast. Those CVT drivetrains are the bee's knees. Ate bagels. Drank coffee.
  13. right there with you. Ran an easy 12 in NYC last weekend. Woke up just a little late yesterday, hit the bricks at 7:30 for 13.1, got rained on almost immediately, and then straight to 100+ heat index. Bonked at 10. limped home and called it quits at 12. Somebody remind me why I agreed to a fall marathon
  14. This has been our civil war for years already. Know your enemies. https://www.e-reading.club/bookreader.php/133469/The_Turner_Diaries.pdf
  15. Been digging on You're Wrong About lately. Sounds similar to American Scandal discussed above, which I haven't listened to. Started with Terri Schiavo episode, Lewinsky, Clinton Impeachment, Iran-Contra, and a couple of others. Entertaining stuff.
  16. I like the ones where the Jews fight back
  17. Just burned through S4 in a couple of days. Been a while since I've rewatched S4 or S5. Gotdam this show is awesome. RIP Bodie
  18. same, but Fort Worth. State Fair was Les Mis
  19. AND THE QUARTERBACK IS TOAST
