  1. haven't been in a while, but it was always good when we went. Had a surprisingly good meal at Mastranto's just up studewood from there. Helen in the Heights is always terrific, but not new.
  2. I am sorry that your father is shacking up with my dad's fourth wife
  3. Surly GOOF mafia in the news https://www.click2houston.com/news/stinky-mystery-human-waste-being-dumped-in-oak-forest-neighborhood
  4. esto. In Houston C&D will strip the cables, weigh it, and pay you IN $2 BILLS
  5. esto. Best bet is to get as much of it out as you can, then dirt + sod. If your HOA will let you get away with it, maybe mulch or some other cover over the stump remains for a year to break it down more and try to chop it up so you can get a thicker layer of topsoil over the area. We had a giant sweetgum taken down in the front yard 10 years ago and I've been through a couple cycles of settle>fill>repeat. Was digging out part of the yard for a new flowerbed this weekend and that gotdam root system is still a giant PITA
  6. enjoyed Fleabag immensely. Yes, it was depressing and sad with chuckles.
  7. Sounds like you need to activate the SurLegal mafia. roundtable confab at Perry's in the Woodlands stat
  8. We honeymooned at Sandals MB. Enjoyed it. If we had to do over, would have gone Ritz-Carlton as the price was probably a wash. I played golf at the RC course and it was rad. We took a day trip to Mayfield Falls with Barrett Adventures. Had a great time. Better trip than Dunn's river, I imagine. Saw land pirates. We also did a trip up to Croydon in the Mountains, a working coffee/fruit plantation. Also a memorable trip. No matter where you stay, you need to make an off-premises trip to Scotchy's for jerk chicken. It's finominle. I was only able to stop by briefly on the way back from golf, but the chicken I took back to the hotel was amazing. I've sent a bunch of people over the years and they all rave about it.
  9. I was also underwhelmed with Blood Bros, but am willing to give it another shot. Also, upthread...there will only ever be one true 407 BBQ:
  10. Scott Wheeler at Wheeler & Associates http://www.wheelerappraisal.com/our_appraisers/ UT Grad tell him nord sent you
  11. Congratulations on joining the surveillance state. Make sure to pick the one that will just give your footage to the authorities if they ask nicely.
  12. Hamilton is awesome and if you disagree you're an old
  13. all the pieces matter
  14. Just finished the Night Manager. Plugging it again because I'm sure a lot of folks missed it like I did and it was exceptional. Same lady who directed Bird Box. She's bowed out of S2, which I've read is under development with no ETA as of yet, but I'm curious to see how they're able to continue the story with little original source material, or if they morph it into another JLC book.
  15. Don't forget all the unspent rounds littering the battlefield after the big shoot-out
  16. I found the box set of BoB at the thrift for $5 a couple of weeks ago and bought it for my curmudgeonly FiL who professes to hate everything. I told him I was going to force him to watch it and, despite his protestations to the contrary, he would like it. Sat him down yesterday and got him through the first three episodes before we had to leave for Houston. After the assault on the howitzers at Brecourt Manor at the end of E2, he was all "BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO GONORRHEA???!!" and I had to point out that Wild Bill was awarded the silver star. I think I may have gotten through. To be continued...
  17. I don't want to be pedantic, but the whole "indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding/ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind" thing would have been a better fit here
  18. Weed and feed is the devil. It may very well kill your oak trees. And, if you plan on eating those atrazine-infused pecans...
  19. Mrs. Laz and I have lost count but I think Houston back in March, and the two white water sets bring us up to sixteen TAB shows. They always bring it. Saw them at Red Rocks in '15 and it was about as close to a religious experience as I've had. You will have a blast.
  20. any of you ravers going to Illfest at the Expo Center this weekend?
  21. Signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon in October. Will be my first full in five years, and my first time training through a Texas summer. I've been running in the mornings this year, and I'm planning to run commute to the office late in the cycle when I get up to 8-10 mile wednesday runs. Any other tips from you seasoned veterans on how to avoid dying in August?
  22. just started The Night Manager. Based on a LeCarre novel. First ep was a little forced, but set the stage well. I'm in.
