  1. we had andros townsend, ryan mason and danny rose in those early poch teams as well. poch made it a point to focus on academy development/promotion when he got here.
  2. this has been one of the biggest disappointments and differences between the early poch era and now.
  3. ya but the good ones are capable/willing to do more than keep their wing backs slightly more narrow or pushed forward 10 fewer yards.
  4. don’t think we’ll ever know. but we know the way we’re doing it now isn’t.
  5. i dunno. maybe think about changing your style of play so it doesn’t require all out effort from your already gassed and depleted team to be successful? back 3 today? cool. but you’ve got acres of space in midfield because we keep pressing and can’t recover, leaving a depleted back line repeatedly exposed. injuries are a big part of the story but ange’s stubbornness shouldn’t be ignored.
  6. i still don't understand why they extended forster in the middle of last season vs. letting his contract expire and bringing in a new keeper in the summer.
  7. and i laugh at the people who keep insisting the ONLY thing the club needs is an overhaul. spurs are never going to spend like other clubs while levy and ENIC are in charge, and IMO ange needs to figure out a way to adjust his system for the players we have in the current squad so we don’t keep dropping points and miss out on the additional funds that come from european qualification. so trust ange - fine. his track record suggests he is not a fraud, but consistently saying, “it is what it is” without even feigning an attempt at something different in the short term raises questions.
  8. spurs had the 4th-highest spend (5th highest net-spend) in the summer transfer window. and we were all generally excited about the squad makeup before the season. keep spending money to overhaul the squad, sure. but it isn’t just about spending money. i
  9. this is why. a good manager needs to be able and willing to tactically adjust to what the game and opponent are giving him. ange doesn’t do that. do you chalk the consistent defensive lapses and issues defending set pieces to injuries/depth? i don’t disagree with the other points you made, but allowing him to just continue on in this manner also signals that we arent a serious club.
  10. it won’t be, but this should probably be it for ange.
  11. i’m doubling down on my thread title suggestion.
  12. “it’s just who we are mate”
  13. have done both and much prefer the overground. the back garden at no. 8 is a great time and my fav spot as well, but also curious if the atmosphere has changed since there is more to do/drink/eat pre-game in the new stadium than in WHL. regardless you should def make a trip back and hit the pubs.
  14. i still think you are pulling the ripcord on richy prematurely. having two out and out striker options should lessen the need for son, bj, werner, deki, etc to shoulder that load and allow them to play in their more natural, effective wide positions in all competitions. and if you’re going to trust ange on solanke, he had this to say about richy: “Not sure where the uncertain future idea came from, not from my behalf. When he was fit last year, he played all the time and played well. This is not about replacing Richy, for us it is about adding to our squad and we want to get better in every transfer window. Having some more quality and depth in that front third means we can protect our players more” maybe he doesnt work out but at this stage having him AND solanke is nothing but upside.
  15. i don't get the richarlison hate. he's disappointed overall since arriving at spurs, but his first season was filled with injuries and dealing with conte. he got help for his mental health issues and when he came back from the groin injury mid-season last year he was in great form before dealing with injuries toward the back 1/3. i don't recall any point last season where his behavior was a distraction or detrimental to the club. the guy has a ton of talent, seems like he genuinely likes it at spurs and is willing to stay and fight for a spot despite big money offers to leave. i'll take the possibility of all of that clicking over the other backup striker options available on the transfer market.
  16. i think this line of reasoning only holds if tenn doesn't win the title this year. if they do, the better question is whether he wants to keep that rolling or start a re-build at another program.
  17. i'd say it's only fair considering he's been practicing contract termination without consent for a few years now.
  18. i don't need to fantasize about anything. we got the ring. degrom was on some shitty mets teams in his career, so regardless of his career win % or WAR, it's not a stretch to think he could have been a 19-20 game winner with this offense this season had he stayed healthy. but i guess we'll never know. and that's just fine with me.
  19. speaking of bullshit stats, no he wouldn't have to win 19 games. 13-14 probably would have been fine. dunning and bradford took starts from eovaldi and gray when they were on the IL as well. i'm going to bet you could find at least 5 more wins spread around those three guys. look what happened when they went back to their normal roles in the bullpen in the playoffs. but you already know how that turned out:
