  1. Until Surly becomes texags, I assume everyone is fair game.
  2. Does trying to remain employed really count as an interesting choice?
  3. So IT renewed their NIL deal with Card?
  4. He may be the baddest punter on earth. I assume he also drives the team bus and plays in the band at half-time.
  5. I, for one, find his honesty refreshing. If you're going to blow someone, or lots of people... apparently all at once, you should take pride in your work. You be you, Brent.
  6. I doubt this is what Immamac meant when he said get mostly back on track. I'm pretty sure he meant Paul Giamatti.
  7. There's some heavy petting going on there, but I wouldn't call them "pets."
  8. I'd take Ewers over Arch even without the mullet. Throw in the mullet and it's not even close.
  9. He doesn't look as Nordic as I would have thought someone named Vysen would look.
  10. Money and rivalries, sure. A balanced schedule? Not so much. The SEC east has sucked for most of the last decade. In the 1990's, Florida and Tennessee dominated the conference. Same with the Big 12. Nebraska was a powerhouse early on and OU sucked ass. Fast forward 10 years and Nebraska was increasingly irrelevant and Bob Stoops ... was a cocksucker with several conference championships. A balanced schedule based on recent results won't be balanced 10 years from now.
  11. You might be on to something with this competitive balance thing. I've often been amazed at how balanced the current SEC divisions are.
  12. Same for aggies. They'll tell you even if they don't tell you.
  13. For what it's worth, I agree with you. Arch's film and stats don't support a 1.000 rating. That's not a particularly hot take so I don't know why people are negging you. That said, there's a lot of ground between the top player in the nation and a three star. Farrell is a moron and deserved to get crushed. Or better yet, ignored. Reasonable people, however, can debate what Arch's rating should be. His numbers are pretty mediocre. His was fantastic as a freshman - 2400 yards passing, 34 tds, and 6 interceptions. His production has gone down each of the last two years, though. Last season he threw for 1400 yards, 17 tds and 4 interceptions. A lot of that will depend on his team. Still, it doesn't scream number one player. On the other hand, Ketch's argument for why Arch deserves his rating is probably the best - Texas, Alabama, and Georgia have seen him work out and really wanted him and other guys want to be on his team.
  14. Working title: The Dumbest Guys in the Room
  15. The dog who eats avocados video was okay, but the Simpsons quote was too much?
  16. Most teams are flawed to on one side of the ball or the other - OU, OSU, and Baylor last year were really good on one side and average to below average on the other. Georgia, Bama, and Ohio State were elite on both sides. I guess Notre Dame was good, but not elite on offense and defense. Those were unusual though. If the offense steps it up and plays like a top 10 to 15 offense, we'll drop a game or two but should still win the conference if the defense isn't putrid. The defense played well for chunks of time in most games. We just need longer periods of non-putridity.
  17. Baylor had a great season last year, but part of that was a favorable schedule and some timely meltdowns by opponents. They got Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, BYU, Iowa State, and Tech at home, where they were a much better team. Their road games were at Texas State (9 point win), Kansas (38 point win), Kansas State (10 point win), Oklahoma State (10 point loss) and TCU (2 point loss). ISU shot itself in the face multiple times in a close loss. Then OSU threw 4 picks in the conference championship game and somehow only lost by 5. I wouldn't pencil in a loss to Baylor just yet.
  18. I don't speak aggy. Could someone explain what they think "sliced bread" means?
  19. I'm sure Blacklab has been sued for less.
  20. Okay, UTSA's schedule was pretty putrid. Michigan State had the same dynamic though - they went 10-2 with pretty mediocre advanced stats and the 25th hardest schedule. Iowa State was ranked higher on offense and defense and 19th overall in SP+, but went 6-6 against the 39th toughest schedule. They found ways to lose... just not to Texas. On a related not, aggy went 8-4 versus the 48th toughest schedule.
  21. No, the metrics are opponent adjusted. Here's the description: F+ Ratings combine Brian Fremeau's FEI ratings with Bill Connelly's SP+ ratings in equal parts. Overall team ratings (F+), offense ratings (OF+), and defense ratings (DF+) represent each team and unit's standard deviation above or below average. FEI ratings (FEI) represent the per-possession scoring advantage a team would be expected to have on a neutral field against an average opponent, based on opponent-adjusted possession efficiency data. SP+ ratings (SP+) are tempo- and opponent-adjusted measures of college football efficiency based on play-by-play and drive data designed to be predictive and forward-facing. Team records (Rec) represent results against FBS opponents only.
  22. Like momentum, knowing how to win seems pretty real. We had a better offense (31st vs 32nd) and defense (67th vs 75th) than UTSA. UTSA managed to win a bunch of close games and go 11-2 while we... didn't. If it makes anyone feel better, Nebraska had a much better defense than Texas (19th vs 75th) and about the same offense (30th vs 31st) and they only won 2 games. If our defense played like Nebraska's we'd probably have been in the conference championship game.
