  1. Those were pre-portal. Good lineman are hard to find in the portal. It's probably smart to over sign the positions that are harder to find and run off the bottom two or three. Rinse and repeat. Basically what Saban has been doing through over signing, medical redshirts, etc.
  2. My guess is he disappears for a season, goes back to a pre-game show for a season or two, then gets hired by a school like Oregon or Miami.
  3. Meanwhile, Jimbo rolls up in a black van and asks if he wants some candi.
  4. I never liked head coaches also calling plays. No matter how good you are on your side of the ball, you'll be neglecting the other side to some extent. It just might work though if you have the right unofficial head coach for the other side of the ball.
  5. I lived in Seattle for a while and quickly realized that Oregon fans suck.
  6. They say it's better to be lucky and good and Sark is one lucky bastard. He was poised to sign a decent, though unremarkable class after a losing season and no momentum in recruiting. Then Ewers and the NIL stuff falls from the sky. Two potentially program altering events that were mostly outside of Sark's control occurred within days of each other at the best possible time.
  7. Wait, is that a bad thing? Cuz that's pretty much my job title.
  8. This. Riley is a great offensive coordinator, but OU is mediocre as a team. He's a poor man's Ryan Day.
  9. I honestly did not realize Ryan Leaf was still alive.
  10. I agree - this isn't a good fit. I don't know if it's because Sark is focused on running the offense or what. I thought Choate would help PK, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Somehow, the defense is less than the sum of its parts.
  11. I don't know what the narrative is going into next year. There's nothing we actually do well and we regressed over the season. It's hard to point to any player or unit that has gotten better. I guess you could say Sark does a good job of manufacturing points despite poor QB and o-line play. That's inconsistent though and highly dependent on Bijan and Worthy making exceptional plays. The defense isn't good at anything. We can't stop the run, can't stop the pass, can't tackle. We played poorly on the road all season and then lost to Kansas at home. What do you build on when you don't do anything well?
  12. I would much rather watch the State Farm commercials than the Saban/Deion AFLAC commercials. I would pay them to stop airing the AFLAC commercials.
  13. Gundy being smart with ISU's late substitutions. They just had to burn a second timeout.
  14. Narrator: He doesn't save his job.
  15. If only there was someone whose job was to make those players better.
  16. That was really shitty coaching. Two games in a row we've sucked from about midway through the second quarter on.
  17. One will inadvertently trip the other into the path of a defender.
  18. Holy shit! "I would say you have a vagina between your legs... but I know a lot of ladies that would of made that tackle in the same position." That about sums up our defense.
  19. Has Sark taken any players from defense to put them on offense? Schooler moved the other way, but that's the only one I can remember. Sanders really wanted to play offense so you can't blame Sark for giving him the chance. It's hard to point to any sign that Sark is interfering with PK. The initial game planning has been sound and the defense has held its own in the first half of every game including Arkansas and OU. The second half is the issue. The two most obvious explanations for a defense struggling late are TOP or turnovers/field position. Neither of those have been consistent problems. TOP was likely a factor against OU, but has been relatively even in the other games so that doesn't explain the defensive struggles. Turnovers and field position haven't been an issue either. Worthy fumbled the kick-off, but the flood gates were already open at that point. If anything, Sark may not be involved in the defense enough. Someone pointed out in the game thread that we have a great offensive coordinator, but it's not clear we have a great head coach. For whatever reason, PK doesn't make adjustments or isn't making them fast enough. That's where a HC would generally be able to help, but I don't know how engaged Sark is during the game on that side of the ball.
  20. I was excited about Jeff Choate as well, but he's been a disappointment so far. It doesn't seem to be simply an issue of talent. Getting trucked or losing a footrace is a talent issue and we've seen plenty of that from the linebackers. Not understanding their assignment and running themselves out of plays is a coaching issue.
  21. Had Enough, how much is your NIL deal with Card?
