  1. In their defense, Wikipedia can't seem to find Bijan either.
  2. Not to discount the blocking, but I imagine more than one DB was content to be locked up with 200 pound receiver than get trucked by Earl.
  3. I'm kind of surprised Bijan only has 87k followers. I figured being on heisman watch lists would get him more followers. Outside of someone like Suh, I don't see linemen getting huge numbers of followers. Joey Bosa probably would have done pretty well. Still, QBs, RBs, WRs, and the occasional DB who also does kick returns will always have a significant advantage.
  4. Put the dropped interception against Tech on the menu and then tell me where and how much money to send you.
  5. This has no bearing on whether he's an idiot or not, but D'onta is 12 minutes younger.
  6. One year it was calves. Everyone's calves looked HUGE! And one year forearms were a thing. I think that that was when Wylie first came in. Now everyone's explosive.
  7. Shiplap, bitch slap. Waco's got something for everybody. Except maybe the Big 12.
  8. Nebraska could get that elusive 4th conference win per year.
  9. I'll watch this once it's been posted 20 times. So in like 10 minutes.
  10. Why do both kicker's look like coal miners?
  11. Texas has been in the Big 12 for a couple of decades without turning into midwestern corn farmers or Oklahoma meth addicts. I think we'll be fine.
  12. The ACC can't raise it's ceiling (unless it adds ND), but it could raise its floor. Work on a partnership with the B1G - set up as many permanent/semi-permanent cross-conference rivalries as possible. Something like Pitt vs PSU as the first game of the year each season for both teams. Ohio State vs Florida State, Clemson vs Michigan, etc. With an expanded playoff and automatic bids, there's not as big a penalty for scheduling tougher non-conference games. If they can drop a few teams, that's even better. They may not get Texas vs OU, but at least they can avoid Wake Forest vs ... anyone. The irate 8 could go the partnership route as well. Ditch the Kansas schools and Baylor (because fuck them), add whoever makes sense from the AAC to get enough decent football programs (Cincinnati, Houston?). Then use Texas and OU as leverage to get the SEC to commit to a long-term partnership. Texas and OU get to leave at the end of the year in exchange for the SEC dropping its late season FCS games to play teams from the new conference. Texas and A&M would still be playing the Texas teams every now and then anyway and I'm sure OU will still play OSU so its not a huge ask. Arkansas and Mizzou probably wouldn't mind an extra Texas game every other year. Promise the new conference 6-10 home/away pairings each year and the value of the conference goes up while the SEC gets recruiting trips to Texas and better non-conference scheduling. Do the same thing with the B1G by taking advantage of geography to get deals with Ohio State, Oregon, Nebraska and anyone else that wants to recruit Texas. The big name schools get regular recruiting trips to Houston/DFW and the new conference get's high-value TV games.
  13. The right meth to mobile home mix to pay for a $40 million buyout may not be the right mix for an $80 million buyout. Shits complicated.
  14. Not so much a hot take as a steaming one.
  15. There seems to be a huge benefit to staying one season. Not because of the buyout, but because of the $40 million TV payout per member. No one is going to get that elsewhere. Things get murky in a hurry after that. The buyout is the final 2 years of distributions. Texas and OU are staying this year so there's no reason the buyout would drop in year one. That's $80 million in year one (setting aside any legal challenges from Texas and OU). But next season, there's no way ESPN and Fox pay $40 million per school. Just for the sake of argument, let's use $20 million for a round and very generous number. That means the total buyout payment that each school would get is $15 million over two years. Not bad, but probably not going to keep anyone from looking around. But the payment for this upcoming year would. Teams can expect something like: Year 1: $50 million ($40 million for their share of the TV contract plus $10 million in buyout money) Year 2: $25 million ($20 million for their share of the TV contract and $5 million in buyout) plus whatever comes from Texas/OU grant of rights. Year one is an easy decision unless you know you can reserve a seat in the B1G and possibly the Pac 12. If more teams withdraw this year, everyone else is screwed. If not, the prisoner's dilemma kicks in for year two. You might get $25 million. You might be homeless. If I'm Texas/OU/ESPN, I offer $160 million to settle everything after one year. Each school gets $60 million next year ($40 million from TV rights plus $20 million in buyout money) and can immediately start looking for a new home. Schools would have a relatively straight forward decision - is $20 million worth the uncertainty that comes in year two? That's a shitty deal if all 8 schools can stick together and somehow win the ensuing legal battles. [Narrator: there's virtually no chance they all stick together and win the ensuing legal battles.] It's a fantastic deal if more schools withdraw soon and a decent deal if everyone can hang on for one year.
  16. This is insane. He needs all 8 schools acting in unison and believing the others are going to stick to the plan. And then does a media blitz about one or more of them not sticking to the plan.
  17. I see the Big 12 has reached the Jonestown phase of realignment.
  18. You must really like the Kansas City airport.
  19. Kate Beckinsale hasn't returned my phone calls. It'll be a long time before I even consider having sex with her! And by long time I mean several nano seconds. Also, I haven't slept or showered for a week on the off chance she calls.
  20. Stooopid Texas! Getting suckered into taking more money, a better schedule, easier recruiting, and non bitch-ass conference mates. Fools!
  21. OU's credit card is maxed out they it's putting the SEC on layaway?
  22. The withdrawal fee is equal to the last two years a school would have been paid if they remained until the end of the deal. As soon as Texas and OU withdraw, the value of the league drops considerably. Wouldn't that be factored into the fee?
  23. ESPN and Fox share the tire 1 rights. Fox has more games than ESPN, but ESPN has the championship games. They apparently rotate options for the championship, but Fox opted not to buy the 2021 and 2023 championship games. https://big12sports.com/news/2012/9/7/205680799 AGREEMENT FACTS Terms ♦ 13-year agreement. ♦ 2012-13 athletic season through 2024-25.
