Sark after dark COACHING STAFF thread
Golding, Lanning, and Arnett are all basically the same guy - roughly the same age, have similar experience, and similar success. The biggest difference I see is that Arnett has worked with less talent and an offensive-minded head coach. I'd be happy with any of them.

You answered your own question - he sucked as a head coach. Winning is a hell of a disinfectant.

I feel better about Sark based on the staff he's putting together. That said, let's not kid ourselves about Sark vs Urban. Saban and Urban are 1a and 1b in terms of college coach rankings. Maybe Sark has learned his lessons and will be compared to those guys some day, but as of now he's several rungs below Urban. There are plenty of reasons to not hire Urban, but the product on the field isn't one of them.

He's our backup for STs in the likely event that Banks dies in a tragic stripper pole accident.

I'm no mathematician, but how does a $200k per year escalation clause add up to $3 million over 4 years?

I saw a quote from someone interviewing Saban once on his defense and he said something like their base defense was a 3 man front, but they rushed 4 or more 75 percent of the time.

I don't know anything, but I doubt either school would admit it if he turned them down.

If he was watching film, it means Arnett did good things against non-Bama offenses.

Coach, can you walk through the new coaches you've hired and current coaches who will remain?

Someone needs to ask about assistants.

In their defense, Smith does have a shit ton of yards.

Bama's offense is amazing, but how did OSU decide playing 4 LB was a good idea. There are multiple mismatches on every play.

OSU went full retard on defense.

There is exactly one guy at Alabama who matters. Everyone else can be replaced with no discernible difference in results. Sark looks amazing as the OC. But so did Mike Locksley. And Lane Kiffen. Saban replaced 7 coaches in 2018 and 6 in 2019. It's what he does.

It's not garbage, but it's on par with most of what you can get at a grocery store. I lived outside of Texas for 20 years before moving back a couple of years ago. I was looking forward to trying Bluebell again and was disappointed.

When is the last time a high profile assistant left Alabama and it made any difference? Saban seems to like Sark more than most of his assistants, but make no mistake, Bama wins because of Saban. Sark is the best OC they've had and he's improved scoring by a couple of points a game. They can hire some random guy who isn't drooling on himself and they'll drop off by a few points. He probably has a replacement for every coach on his staff already on his staff as an analyst. There may be slight variations in how they kick the crap out of teams, but they'll still kick the crap out of teams. Saban treats coaches like he treats players, if he loses one it's next man up. Saban can lose half his staff and he'll be right back in the playoffs next year.

How many hundreds of pages is the Urban or Bust thread? Substance isn't really our strong suit around here.
