  5. It’s been awhile for me, but we played craps at Red Rocks Casino in Summerlin once. Decent locals casino in a nice area and I think the table minimums were reasonable maybe not like Ellis Island but definitely better than the Strip. Someone on here would know but one of the downtown casinos also has low minimums for craps perhaps it’s El Cortez
  6. Also liked Mirage. The pool and sports book were decent and it’s a great location.
  7. Adios Mirage: LAS VEGAS -- The iconic Mirage hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip will shut its doors this summer, the end of an era for a property credited with helping transform Sin City into an ultra-luxury resort destination. The July 17 closure will clear the way for major renovations and construction on the 80-acre property, which is to reopen in 2027 as the Hard Rock Las Vegas, featuring a hotel tower in the shape of a guitar soaring nearly 700 feet above the heart of the Strip. "We'd like to thank the Las Vegas community and team members for warmly welcoming Hard Rock after enjoying 34 years at The Mirage," Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, said Wednesday in a statement announcing the closure. It will be the second time this year that a Strip casino shutters. The Tropicana Las Vegas closed in April after 67 years to make room for a $1.5 billion baseball stadium planned as the future home of the relocating Oakland A's. Developed by former casino mogul Steve Wynn, the Mirage opened with a Polynesian theme as the Strip's first megaresort in 1989, spurring a building boom on the famous boulevard through the 1990s. Its volcano fountain was one of the first sidewalk attractions, predating the Venetian's canals and the Bellagio's dancing fountains. It was known as a venue where tourists could see Siegfried and Roy taming white tigers or a Cirque du Soleil act set to a Beatles soundtrack. The final curtain on the Beatles-themed show, which brought Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr back together for public appearances throughout its 18-year run, also comes down in July. Hard Rock International said Wednesday that more than 3,000 employees will be laid off and it expects to pay them $80 million in severance. The Culinary Workers Union, which represents numerous types of casino and hotel workers, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the closure. The Mirage became the first Strip property to be run by a Native American tribe in 2022, after Hard Rock International, which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, purchased it from MGM Resorts in a cash deal worth nearly $1.1 billion. Hard Rock said at the time that the property would remain open and operate under the Mirage brand for several years while it finalized renovation plans. The Mirage is accepting no bookings for after July 14 and said any reservations past that date will be canceled and refunded. https://abc7.com/post/the-mirage-hotel-casino-on-las-vegas-strip-to-close-this-summer-july-17/14821723/
  8. 6 min video Eliot and Coach with the match preview
  9. It’s been a few years but we used Mark Lane who I would highly recommend. I can’t seem to find the contact info for him but perhaps you can track him down. Hopefully he’s still doing the guided tours. Quick bio: An american historian, Mark is the former director at the Witte Museum in San Antonio, Texas, which houses one of the largest World War II combat collections outside the holdings of the US military. Mark’s presentations cover the facts and figures with breadth and depth, and he enjoys focusing on the experience of the war from the perspective of a typical allied soldier, which gives the historical information a more personal touch. He relates the specific D-Day events to the broader scope of the war.
  10. Looks like we play the other UT on Thursday in Stillwater

  12. Hosting the Aggies next weekend in the sweet 16
  13. You have two choices. One is called Orange City racing and card room. It’s maybe 45 mins from downtown and a decent card room with plenty of tables and action and usually a few PLO cash games going with lower and middle stakes. It shares space with horse betting room and some other card games. It’s in a strip mall and offers pretty much bare bones amenities of food and drink. The other option is the Hard Rock casino which is in Tampa (east side closer to Orlando) and probably about an hour from the Disney area and 1 hour 20 mins from downtown Orlando. Very nice room with lots of action and all the amenities of decent food options inside the casino. The traffic can be awful at times so keep that in mind. Both places are on the Bravo app
  14. Link to a good updated schedule of concerts and sporting events etc plus restaurant info https://www.playusa.com/las-vegas-entertainment-guide-april-2024/
  15. Adios to Margaritaville: After more than 20 years on the Las Vegas Strip, the Margaritaville restaurant is closing, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The beach-themed restaurant that looks out onto the Strip from the Flamingo Las Vegas will close on April 15. The restaurant inspired by the late Jimmy Buffett’s song has more than 35 locations worldwide — and about as many hotels and vacation clubs. The Las Vegas location opened in 2003 and the 12,000-square-foot, three-level restaurant with six bars hosts live music, serves those 45-ounce cocktails that tourists love to haul around, and serves burgers and expected bar food. Caesars Entertainment did not return a request for comment on the closure. https://vegas.eater.com/2024/3/19/24106020/margaritaville-closing-las-vegas-strip-flamingo

  17. Bellagio is another good option right across the street with good restaurants the wife may enjoy that property
  18. While the gas is a good deal for the customers, Costco does make a profit on the gas
  19. I almost bought a place in Panorama Towers right across highway from Aria. This was way back 2009-2011 when the real estate got whacked and nice condos were a deal. But i wasn’t going to move out there full time. I should have pulled the trigger could have made decent money and had a sweet place to stay.
  20. They passed a local ordinance banning the cards from littering and that mostly ended the practice. Seems like that happened a few years ago.
  21. Holy crap that’s gonna be something if enforced at all. But I assume passed out sleeping or selling bottled water still okay.
  22. Since Covid I just haven’t jumped back into the routine of regular or even semi regular poker. Probably will get back into it at some point. On a big trip right now in Thailand (Bangkok and Koh Samui) and headed to Singapore next will see if they have poker at Marina Bay Sands that’s an amazing casino can’t wait to see it.
