  1. Waiting for the EJ frap emoji on this Banks deal. Wait, I’m way behind on this thread and cycle. Is that goofball still covering Michigan?
  2. I did the Heim in FW once and must have caught them on an off day. Very average. So didn’t bother to try the Dallas location. Hit up Hurtado recently and really liked it. Would go back again.
  3. New Bobby Flay joint in Caesars (lots of pics in link below): Celebrity chef Bobby Flay opened his new Italian seafood restaurant at Caesars Palace in May, inspired by his trips to the Amalfi Coast. The restaurant, Amalfi by Bobby Flay, took over his 16-year-old Mesa Grill, spanning 9,000 square feet right off the casino floor. The menu spans whole fresh fish and pastas to lighter antipasti. A fishmonger showcases his catches of the day in a dramatic seafood display near the open kitchen. The fishmonger, who is available to answer any questions, can share where the fish is from, when it arrived in Las Vegas, and other detailed requests. Diners can typically find golden snapper, red snapper, black bass, branzino, and Carabinero shrimp, which can be grilled over charcoal or roasted al forno and served with the choices of Meyer lemon and capers, red pepper and Calabrian chile pesto, or salsa verde. Flay tapped Olivia Jane Design & Interiors to create the look of Amalfi with a natural palette and touches of greenery throughout. Organic fabrics, stone, and wood materials decorate the four spaces inside. A 30-seat bar and 40-seat lounge area practically glow with a limestone mosaic floor and teak wood beams. Flay says he loves the golden glow in the bar and lounge. “Don’t miss the Amalfi Coast-inspired blue and white chairs in the lounge, which are a nod to the swarms of striped umbrellas and chairs sprawled across the beaches there,” he says. The grille/main dining room features limestone walls and antique brass with views of the kitchen. Wines from various regions throughout the Amalfi Coast also find a home here. The restaurant also features a private dining room. Flay recommends ordering the charred octopus with burnt orange and pancetta as an appetizer, followed by squid ink fettuccine with lobster, shrimp, and fra diavolo sauce. https://vegas.eater.com/2021/6/29/22555598/bobby-flay-amalfi-seafood-restaurant-caesars-palace-eater-inside
  4. Yep. Just need the conference and convention folks back in full force and room rates up higher and hopefully that will fix the glitch. -The Bobs from Office Space
  5. Sorry for the delay, was in a wedding this weekend. Okay, so you could check out the fairly new Cipriani in the Wynn. They have a private room option. Also, one of the top seafood places is Milos and they moved from Cosmo to Venetian and they have 2 private rooms. Otherwise, all the standard options that are open at Wynn/Encore I’m sure are still solid. I’m headed back out soon to get an update on the ground.
  6. LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- Cirque du Soleil announced that another one of its Las Vegas Strip productions will soon return to the stage. 7. Haven’t done it but from checking out the website it looks pretty sweet
  8. Resorts World isn’t done revealing all the food and beverage it has to offer. Carver Road Hospitality, the new hospitality company from nightlife impressario Sean Christie, plans to open Carversteak at the resort in December. The 14,500-square-foot restaurant stakes a claim as the city’s largest steakhouse and the resort’s only steak-focused restaurant. Christie, who launched Carver Road Hospitality in April 2020, says Carversteak will be a new spin on the classic steakhouse with a restaurant that changes its mood and tone throughout the night. The steakhouse specializes in thick dry-aged American cuts, global artisan beef producers, and Japanese-certified wagyu cuts. Teased dishes include a 12-hour slow-roasted prime rib and lobster thermidor en croûte, as well as caviar poppers, wagyu mini cheesesteak bites, and vegan dishes. Carver Road Hospitality’s vice president of beverage and hospitality culture Francesco Lafranconi created the cocktails and wine list with a curated whisky collection that sits inside a tasting room. A terrace will showcase an “Avant-Garden” with classic and contemporary cocktails that use the on-site herb garden with its collection of mint varietals. The main bar and lounge plan to feature the full menu, 24 bar seats, lounge seating, and a 30-foot LCD screen displaying art and sporting events. Carver Road tapped design studio DesignAgency to create the mid-century modern look of the steakhouse that takes its inspiration from the Las Vegas landscape. Two private dining rooms — dubbed The Knife Shop and Scotch Room — a 70-foot honed quartzite stone bar, and 3,500-square-foot terrace complete with a bar, dining, and lounge gardens overlooking the Las Vegas Strip are just some of the design elements teased. The restaurant’s interior features rotating digital and traditional art pieces alongside a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system. https://vegas.eater.com/2021/6/15/22535213/carversteak-steakhouse-sean-christie-opening-resorts-world-december-2021

  12. Good deal on the new steakhouse. I saw a work crew at the building just the other day walking around taking a survey and lots of activity on the property so I expect construction to begin soon. The new Marriott behind Nick & Sam’s is pretty nice and has a 4th floor infinity style pool deck which has a view of the Maple Terrace property. The area is back to form we just did a dinner at Uchi on Saturday and it was packed along with Uchiba. Gymnast Nastia Liukin was having a fun time at the table next to us.
