  1. LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- Effective May 3, Wynn and Encore will operate their gaming areas at 100% capacity, Wynn Resorts announced on Monday. This comes after the company says 88% of its employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19. "As a result, Wynn Las Vegas has been granted permission by the Nevada Gaming Control Board to amend its occupancy and physical distancing requirements. ... plexiglass dividers will be removed from all table games and slot machines," representatives for Wynn Resorts said in a statement. Employees will continue to wear masks and follow health and safety guidelines. https://www.fox5vegas.com/coronavirus/wynn-encore-gaming-areas-to-run-at-100-capacity-effective-monday/article_eaa0d05e-ac65-11eb-9da3-534124d03047.html
  2. Another event announcement. Hopefully more coming
  3. Cue up the It’s Happening gif
  4. Google search shows a few articles about him. Casino host originally from Texas. Also: Vic is credited with being a co-founder of the World Series of Poker. Tom Moore and Vic Vickrey, in 1969, held the Texas Gambler’s Reunion in Reno. The following year the reunion was moved to Las Vegas and hosted by Benny Binion. The event was dubbed the World Series of Poker and the rest is history.
  5. Unsolicited recommendation for anyone interested in some Vegas history, this 2014 book details the Texas background and rise to prominence of gaming legend Benny Binion. Fascinating read. Goes into his shenanigans around DFW area and then on to Vegas. If you search hard enough, there are still a few old timers around who interacted with him and have stories to tell. This recent tweet from poker legend Doyle Brunson reminded me of Binion and the book. Tony Spilotro is the Joe Pesci character in the movie Casino. 6. First two items would be where do you want to stay and which sports book? They could be the same but don’t have to be. So figure out if you want the higher end or mid-priced places or do you want the more locals feel. My guess is you want one of the big on the Strip spots. So investigate places like Wynn, Caesars, Westgate, Circa, MGM Grand, Aria, Bellagio. Some differences in the sports books but they generally operate the same. Keep in mind that while you can place bets in person, you can now download a betting app for most of the casinos and place bets that way if you prefer. You might get some first time betting bonus cash that way. Next thing to look into is booking a seat for that college football Saturday. Call the sports book in advance and ask how that works. Most of the big spots are now charging for a seat during peak times. Post any other questions here and maybe we can help.
  7. If you don’t mind driving East, Cedar Ridge Preserve is cool
  8. Gotcha. Yeah there are all kinds of setups and arrangements to get suites cabanas bottle service etc. I’m just a degenerate cash money poker player which basically gets me some food comps. But I lean on my contacts for other hookups and it works out nicely for me usually.
  9. Chitown, how was the process of getting things set up at Resorts World? They assigned you a casino host who booked for you? I assumed they are mostly ready to go with key employees in place but just curious. The CEO was a long time executive with MGM and probably pulled some decent staff over to start. One of my best friends just signed a huge contract to work with Resorts World. That 4th of July weekend gonna be like the Super Bowl out there.
  10. This is good news, so far, on track towards 100% open for June
  11. Looks like Omar Uresti gonna win the PGA Professional Championship again and qualify for the the upcoming PGA major at Kiawah.
  12. Tao? Now. The mega-nightclub at The Venetian has announced it will reopen as a traditional nightclub Saturday. Tao Nightclub, specifically, is taking reservations for its May 1 relaunch. The club is selling tickets and tables for late-night party activity in its primary, 12,000-square-foot nightclub venue. Now, Tao has already been hosting its Late Night parties, including Worship Thursdays, since this spring. The club has hosted activity in the club space as far back as October, as smaller-scale hangs in its lounge space. But on May 1, Tao Group is officially returning the term “nightclub” to the formal title of its nightlife events. The club’s hours are listed at 10:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., with unspecified (likely local) DJs providing entertainment. The company states on its Instagram account, “All ticket holders will have a seated area inside the venue and all safety measures will be followed as we continue to work with all state guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.” More info is at taolasvegas.com/events. On the cabana front, Tao Beach remains under extensive renovation and is set to be ready in time for pool season 2022. https://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/entertainment-columns/kats/tao-at-venetian-back-in-nightclub-game-beginning-saturday-2338606/
  13. What is the setup at Winstar: masks, plastic partitions? Do they allow seat changes?
  14. The Clark County Commission approved the 42-page plan April 20 to increase capacity restrictions for public gatherings to 80% occupancy effective May 1 and reduce physical distance requirements from six to three feet. Additionally, businesses still closed, including nightclubs and adult entertainment, may reopen. Commissioners agreed that capacity and social distancing requirements will be removed when 60% of the eligible population receives at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Masks will continue to be required, per state directive. Some of the other local changes due this weekend include expanding restaurant seating from six diners per table to 12, the return of self-serve buffets and food sampling, elevator capacity growing from four riders to eight, and the return of piercings and tattoos in and around the nose and mouth. Dance floors can reopen once the county hits the 60% mark. Casinos remain under the purview of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, but state gaming regulators have already said Clark County gaming floors can also officially hit 80% capacity on Saturday. https://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2021/apr/27/clark-county-cleared-80-capacity-social-distancing/
