  1. Maybe something like 2 years on new contracts and 4 years max for retaining players but you can only do the extension in the last season of the contract. Eliminate sign and trades. Another beneficial consequence of something like that is that players won’t be worth as much in a trade. Teams won’t be gutted to get an AD Or other superstar should it come to trading them. In that scenario any team is just 2 years from rebuilding their roster if they manage it right. Mid-level players will complain because they want years but the upper level guys aren’t taking the years anyway so the teams are just over extending mid-level guys that don’t make or break the team anyway. This structure prevents the Nets from fucking themselves for 9 years.
  2. I hit my rocketballz great so I’m not too sure I’ll replace that. However right now I use that off nearly every tee unless there is a narrowing fairway and need to go iron to stay back from trouble. If I introduce a driver to my game then I’ll probably use the 3W twice a round at my home course and once or twice a round on my second most played course. So it probably doesn’t make sense to replace that club. Talking with my old man this morning and he said that getting the right shafts completely changed his confidence in his irons. Which I think is a big next step for me. Going from hit it near the green for a pitch and putt to “I can put this on the green” is exactly how I’m going to lower my scores going forward.
  3. I think you said it.. owners effectively have to collude and not offer more than 3 year deals. The prized free agents aren't taking them anyway. Does anyone have a list of top players who have hit free agency AND signed the longest deal available to them? It can't be that high. Most guys who are signing these long term max deals are just extensions with their current teams with a sign and trade sprinkled in. Seems that the 4 year max deals are all being signed by guys like LeMarcus who are the best player left on the board after the biggest names sign deals. Maybe take away the single player salary max and in return the owners get it in the CBA that players can't have longer than 3 years on a deal at any given time and if a player openly requests a trade he can be suspended without pay for conduct detrimental to the team. I don't know, something needs to be done but the players have nearly 100% of the leverage and will always find a way around it, especially the most high profile guys.
  4. They're the splash brothers lite. Keeps the rose garden full and they'll always have a puncher's chance, especially with the aging of the all star crop that has dominated the league for so long. They have a puncher's chance against the rockets if Russ doesn't play nice, same with a young denver team. Same with the spurs and possibly a injury prone/tired warriors team. If the lakers have an injury to davis or lebron then they have a chance against them. That is a lot of stuff to fall into place, but if you're the GM and you want to make money then you stack their roster up against the west and you think if one or two things go right for you in each series then your ceiling is the conference finals. The problem is going to be that they'll be the 7-8 seed and they'll need major help to get to the second round to see if things can fall into place. I don't know if that happens, but what else are they going to do for the next year or two? If the act gets tired they can just trade everyone away like the thunder did in 2-3 years.
  5. Not to belittle his mental health but he needs to man the fuck up. The NBA is a superstar league. The only reason he ever even got a chance to do anything is because of the massive amount of injuries on the knicks roster. Baron davis, Shumpert, Amare, and Melo were out when he really got his chance. Who the fuck else was going to shoot the ball? There are a ton of players in the league that can score when given the opportunity to shoot 20 times a game but there are only so many shots to go around. To his credit, Lin made the most of it. However, he isn't a superstar, he isn't some massively marketable player outside of his flash in the pan popularity, and he isn't going to get 20 shots a game over nearly anyone on at least half of the NBA 2 deep rosters. Those are just the facts and his whining puts off the perception that he thinks he can start in the league when he has done good on shitty teams, decent on decent teams, and bad on good teams. Newsflash, shitty teams aren't trying to spend a lot of money and be elevated to the 9-12 spot in the playoff race if that is their ceiling and that is exactly what it is with him. I like Lin. It is awesome to see a guy step up when they have the chance and he certainly did. That doesn't entitle him to an NBA contract though and now it seems that he is just trying to cry his way to one. You have had a good run but you need to get better, not worse, to stay in the league when you are constantly playing on small contracts. There is too much new blood that is cheaper and under control for longer for you to not work your ass off every day like he did when the Knicks first picked him up. You've earned $65M in 9 years. Man the fuck up and either get better or move on.
  6. Going to put this here. Went out hard last night. Had some fernet. Banged a girl that smelled like patchouli and self described as “bohemian”. Finished the night off with a spicy chicken sandwich from QT. Got up at 530. Left her house because of heartburn. Shit my pants the second I got in the car. Should have just crapped her bed. Would have made her place smell better. Ditched my briefs, shorts, and an Elvis beach towel on the north end of the Tulsa university campus if anyone want some free clothes.
  7. From a mental standpoint I’m beginning to think brooks might be redefining the mental game like tiger redefined the physical aspect. Then again, tiger had 50 wins by age 30. We’ll never see that again.
  8. I'm definitely not going to fit a driver at this point. I need to, but I haven't swung one in over 2 years so that wouldn't be productive. I'm thinking I'll go in and get the wedges, 3 wood, and a hybrid or two. Those swings are really comfortable and grooved. Then I think I'll do irons once my handicap stops improving by .2-.5 points each round I play. I think I can get to 12 by September if I keep up at this rate, though things will get tougher when all of my scores are 90 and below. I also have some cleveland TA2 irons that I played before my pings. I might go back to those and see if I can play them because they were meant for low-mid handicappers and if I'm headed that direction it might give me some insight into the type of club I should be moving toward. My big frustration with my bag is that I bought my cobra from a guy that was wearing a lot of king cobra gear. Bought the pings from a golf galaxy guy that only had me try 3-4 clubs before saying "these are right for you". I don't feel like I've had an agnostic/objective professional help me.
  9. I'm really struggling on when to get new clubs. I know new equipment won't fix a swing but I'm pretty happy with my swing at this level right now. It needs to get better to get to a 10 but I also use irons that weren't fitted to me (ping E1 4-PW), my cleveland wedges are probably 7 years old, I can't hit the cobra F5 driver I have from about 4 years ago, and I'm carrying an old cleveland 3 iron for a driving iron. The club I'm most comfortable with in my bag is a rocketballz 3 wood that is getting pretty dinged up. There is not doubt I have technological deficiencies on the driver/3 wood/3 iron/wedges, even if those are just needing a less worn version of the club. I've got a few gift certificates to club champion so getting a proper fitting for the full bag would cost nothing. I've got the scratch to do a full replacement, but don't know if I should go now, wait til the last month of the season and just have fun until then, or if I should hold off until my handicap stabilizes and I really struggle to get any better scores. Thoughts?
  10. Amanda balionis is wheelhouse.
  11. That’s a pretty good read. Love learning how things play out behind the scene.
  12. Got out this morning and shot a real bad 90 on a 136 slope. Bumping a 94 off my card next revision. Trending down to a 14.0. Going to play 2 more times this weekend see if I can get sub 14 next revision. As it stands I will have dropped from 19.6 at the 6/15 revision to 14.0. I’m jacked about that as I thought 14 would be a massive undertaking to get to. Now I have my eye set on 10 by the end of the year.
  13. I’m pumped to play someone other than Kentucky. Tennessee will be an ok game. They lost a lot from last year. I was kind of hoping to face off with buzz.
  14. Looks to me like you hit 2 fairways. Nice pics.
  15. I would have never left the closet after shooting the intruder. The authorities are there to protect us. Why the fuck were they telling the man to come out, possibly encountering another intruder on the way??? They should have cleared the house and then communicated to dispatch that the man was safe to come out while the police were in the house with the lights on. Instead the homeowner basically did 100% of the police's job, nabbing the intruder and then clearing the house. I bet he walked out to guns drawn on him too. Such heroes those policemen/women are. Surprised they didn't hit the late night coffee shop while the man finished all of the paperwork.
  16. We going to let this bag of deer shit go without comment? Fucking filthy.
  17. Yep. His only real chance is at August going forward but a full 4 days plus prep is a lot of golf for him.
  18. He is talking like he is done for the most part and that's pretty sad to see and hear. He is absolutely great in press conferences.
  19. Ku filled the final scholarship spot with a guy who is about to jump to a 4 star rating and get into the top 100. A good 4 year project guy. Going to be a fun season given the roster disaster we were looking at 2 months ago.
  20. Wasn’t there a steroid rumor for a minute? Didn’t something happen to him and his career ended basically over the course of a season?
  21. Tom Brady has caught 100% of his targets and averages 22 yards per catch. You going to mark him down as one of the all time best deep threats? There is a lot more to the story. If brooks wins 10 non-major events in a 20 year career and wins 8 majors he won’t transcend his generation of golf fans.
  22. His presser yesterday and the interview with Phil have me thinking that both tiger and Phil have realized they aren't going to compete ever again except for at one or two events each year for the next 2-3 years. They're old and broken. Phil looks like he is dying with the weight loss. Kind of sad to see both of them "just happy to be here" rather than "I want to win this thing."
  23. This will get him remembered by the serious golf fans and maybe some casual fans but nothing like being known by everyone like Jack and Tiger and Arnold. In 40 years when commentators at the masters say "this young kid reminds me of Brooks Koepka with his power" most fans will say "who the hell is that?" If Brooks would go out and dominate weekly like he does on the big fish then he could absolutely be a legend known by everyone. Being a legend is winning all the time, that's why a guy like DJ won't be legendary. He doesn't win the big ones and the smaller ones.
  24. This is why I personally think he could win 10 majors and not sniff the air that Tiger and Jack breathe. A coworker told me today that Koepka was the closest to tiger we have seen and I told him that Brooks was about as close to tiger as pluto is to the sun. He is a great talent, no doubt, but he doesn't and will never belong in the same book as Tiger and Jack if he doesn't take the whole season seriously.
