  1. I think something to remember is that I have always been in the camp that KU gets hit and possibly hard. We were too talked about during the trial even if we weren’t doing something illegal. Can’t have that much smoke and not get the NcAA in your shit and they have been. The question is how much does the ncaa want to posture up and go at it? for instance, they can’t use the wiretap because the fbi didn’t give it to them. But if Townsend actually admits it was him and gets his penalty like a man then you automatically have to investigate Zion and duke. If Townsend gets hit hard then he has no motivation to keep quiet. He might say “yeah we lost him to bike and duke because he got $200k from them” you can’t punish him for hearsay and then say “but duke and Zion must not have done anything.” the texts with self are so vague that they could mean anything. On top of that the testimony in court was that self never knew of payment so how do you link them if self stonewalls the ncaa? Our problem is hopefully limited to de Sousa and games with him being retroactively vacated based on new information. Preston never saw the court on top of payments to AAU owners (his mom) being legal by ncaa standard. Same happened with josh Jackson’s mom. Somehow we are going to get smoked but I believe we will fight like hell. I think that Self and the NCAA are tired of each other and either both are going to play nice from here on out or it’s going to be war and things are going to get really interesting.
  2. While that would seem to clear some schools I think Wilcox is too vague for anyone to read into his eligibility comment. Even KU. We have one that was glaring. No doubt. Technically Ayton wasn’t an issue, but he was the center of a lot of evidence and drama. Dennis Smith jr. wasn’t an eligibility issue but definitely is now. Bowen was never an issue because he never got on campus. But he did take the money and that is known and UL should probably be eligible for the death penalty because of him. It would seem they would be #1 on the list for level 1 violations but technically they never had an eligibility issue with a kid on campus. So the question really is what constitutes an eligibility issue in the eyes of Wilcox?
  3. One of our linebackers was all big twelve I believe. Les is doing a good job and these two returning safeties are probably going to stand out under the new staff. Hopefully we win 3-4 games.
  4. Probably just put it directly in the new adidas contract that if they see us fart in the direction of a player they should just cut a check. Seriously though, it’s been an insane recruiting period because of all the departures and speculated departures. Glad it’s over, we have 2 four star guys and 3 three star guys. Definitely a drop of in recruiting which is expected when your bag man goes to jail. That being said, i look forward to having multiple guys that are 4 year players to develop. I don’t want another year with potentially 7 spots to fill.
  5. Maybe you missed that UT was also named in the investigation. Are you happy they might not be pursued or do you want the stiffest penalties possible? im of the mind that if you want to clean up the sport you can. The ncaa doesn’t want that so it’s going to pick off a few bad actors here or there and never fix the problem. I’m fine with KU getting punished if it means that everyone is getting their due. But that isn’t how the NCAA is going to do this. They are going to take the chicken shit way out. If KU does happen to have level 1 violations then I hope we unleash everything against the ncaa like UNC has at every turn until they go away. Now if you want to talk about schools like Maryland (who paid 60k to the same player adidas paid 2500 to) and you want to talk about duke who landed the guy with the 100k asking price and you want to talk about Texas A&M who had money in a shoe mailed to a kid and you want to talk about Wichita state who had their future nba point guard get $5k then let’s talk. But if the ncaa is just going to pick and choose who they punish and advertise the fuck out of it so they look proactive about the situation then I’m going to say fuck the ncaa, I hope everyone with allegations fights them to the bitter end and the ncaa goes down in flames because the member schools can’t agree on how to enforce on a level playing field. The FBI doesn’t even respect the ncaa enough to give them their evidence and investigative materials. We shouldn’t respect them or their rules or enforcement either. The sooner we all recognize the ncaa is a eunuch the faster we can solve the problems in college athletics. As it stands now though the ncaa is just a mechanism for fans to point at other programs and say “you are bad and we are good.”
  6. Just saw this, which makes me feel better about KU’s position
  7. You have to think that USC, OSU, Auburn, Louisville, arizona, and LSU are low hanging fruit. Then you have to believe that Ku is not far behind. if it’s six schools at level one i would say the 4 schools that actually had coaches charged are obvious. Then the school that started it all in Louisville is obvious. Wade at LSU basically admitted wrongdoing as did LSU when it suspended him. KU is in the vague spot because the fbi didn’t see enough to bust Ku however the NCAA made Ku classify the Adidas guy as a booster so by the strict letter of the law we broke rules. The NCAA’s standard for evidence is much lower than the us legal system though so we could have issues. Luckily bill self wasn’t the one on the call that was recorded so if that is used then it looks like kurtis Townsend is headed for early retirement. Im thinking the first schools mentioned get level 1 violations and KU gets off easy with vacated games (including the final four) and maybe a scholarship reduction. I don’t think anyone is effected in 2020 because this is going to be a litigated and appealed shit show. This is when the fun starts. The article is vague enough that big time school could be USC or zona or UL or KU. Depends on if they mean a blue blood basketball school or just a big ass, high profile, school.
  8. Kansas picks up 4 star Michigan decommit jalen Wilson. #47 per 24/7. Ku should go into the season ranked #1 or #2. If we can actually field our full roster for the first time in 4-5 years we might be pretty damn good.
  9. It isn’t necessarily about getting just anything for players that do this, it is about getting the best package possible. If Miami has the number one pick and some other assets they might trade it all for AD. But because he said he wants to be a certain place then Miami won’t offer all they could in that scenario. The pels are going to get something for him but I wouldn’t take all of the Lakers lineup sans lebron for him. When AD limited the teams he would sign with he did two things, limited the asset pool the pelicans could get to those teams, and/or limited the assets other teams would even offer to take the risk. Thats his right as a player, and he should have that right. But if he is going to be sent somewhere he hates (say Phoenix) then he might realize he should have just let it play out in NOLA for a year rather than just withering away for a year in Phoenix. It can be seen as a disservice to both team and player by going public. They should communicate with each other more openly it seems before they get to this point. The bigger problem is this is opening the door to the Odell Beckham scenario where a player signs a massive deal to get the deal then demands a trade immediately. That is a huge detriment to the league and actions approaching that scenario need to be curtailed ASAP.
  10. The problem is now Charlotte won’t offer shit for him because he said he won’t sign there. Pelicans are fucked because it’s a player’s league. Pelicans are lucky NY and LA are two team cities that have at least decent assets to offer. If he said he’s only going to Miami then they’d be absolutely fucked because there would be no competition in the market for him. At least the nets and clippers can offer something with the hope he just means he wants to be in LA or NY and not specifically with the lakers or knicks.
  11. I have a feeling that the “calf” injury was a diversion from a true Achilles injury. Maybe he had an Achilles strain or a partially torn Achilles, but if either of those was on the injury report then there is no worry about him coming back. Calf means the raptors might have to prep for him. That helps the franchise but in the media and in the minds of fans KD is getting killed for not roughing it out like klay. So he toughs it out to prove himself and destroys what is left of the Achilles. That is my hunch anyway. Hope it isn’t true. Good luck to him.
  12. I see him like Kareem at the end of his career. So dominant in his prime that even if his prime is cut by 2 years it is worth maxing for the year you lose with the rehab. I think the warriors are the soft landing but I think someone like the nets or knicks will give him the contract. The warriors will send him off with great love. Maybe with a ring as the can circle the wagons as well as anyone.
  13. I think he was a big influence on his own return but I think it was because of his loyalty to the team and because of the pressure of fans, haters, and press. Including myself. If we had known he had an Achilles injury then no one would have questioned his status. Maybe some gamesmanship is to blame as he was always speculated to return and that could have pressured him to do so. But damn. Terrible for him in any and every way. Kudos to him trying to prove himself when he didn’t have anything to prove.
  14. I think KD is a bitch. But.... if his original injury was a partial tear of the Achilles or a strain of the Achilles then fuck. Big ass balls to go out there and bust his ass and play. Win or lose the series doesn’t change his legacy at all. Sucks he’s going to be out for 80-100% of the season next year but hats off to him. If GSW would have been more open about the injury then he wouldn’t have caught as much flak over the last 4 weeks. Good luck to him going forward. Myself and a lot of others owe him some credit. Wish it would have been easier to give before he had a serious injury such as this.
  15. Warriors GM. Crying. KD Achilles and done.
  16. Kansas picks up Iowa grad transfer Isaiah Moss. 42% from 3 last year. Addresses an immediate need for shooting. Wilson announces his commitment on wednesday. KU has 2 schollies left to give.
  17. You can't say that with any authority. Look at Lebron. He didn't make the Lakers a contender and many would say that Lebron is better than KD. If KD went to the spurs, Jazz, Portland, Denver then yeah. They are probably playing the Warriors in the conference finals. If he went to the heat he isn't getting to the finals. With the way teams are composed now you can't say that 1 player is going to make a contender out of any team. There has to be some sort of base talent level on the team. Unless you are saying he was only going to go to a contender and not try to build his own team. Then I agree with you unless he went east, I think the landscape in the east is a lot different than the west with a lot more unknowns because many of those teams are so young..
  18. Houston gets KD and they become a contender and if you believe that he is the best player and the warriors can't win without him (like so many here do), then the warriors are no longer a contender. So OKC and the Warriors are no longer competition after a KD departure. The Blazers are pretenders and Denver is nowhere near ready. Right now, Houston absolutely needs him just as much as any team... unless he goes East.
  19. He is estimated to be worth $2.3billion. So if you compare it to a person who has a net worth of $100k then its about a $21.72 fine. Less than a parking ticket in Tulsa. Knock his social status is the right way to punish him. Donald Sterling treatment is the only way to go. Like I said though, he is going to come off making a lot of money. The warriors were purchased by the current group for $450M. They are now valued at $3.5B. If he owns even just 1% of the team then he has a gain of $30.5M on his investment. Not a bad parting gift if you have to carry the moniker of "guy who got forced to sell an investment". Still, needs to be done. Just as the worry was that players see fans in a different light and be more apt to interact with them after Malice at the Palace, you can't have ownership participating in attacking players. That gives fans the balls to say "if he can do it I can do it to." You have to crush that right away. I'd even say that you might need to make a rule that any employees/owners of teams have to sit a certain distance from the court depending on their employment level. Owners should be in the boxes, not looking over the shoulder of a player (opposing or not) in the huddle or on an inbound play.
  20. I would keep Russell too unless getting KD was dependent on getting kyrie. If that was the requirement then KD is an idiot. Kyrie is a better shooting version of Westbrook. If KD wants to make a team that moves the ball with him as the focal point then teaming up with kyrie might not be the best option. If he wants to go back to trading off who isolated and scores then him and kyrie are perfect for each other. Just seems weird for him to leave that style just to go back to that style.
  21. KD being out has to have been planned. He isn't coming back and it has everything to do with his free agency if he doesn't play. I think the warriors are just fine winning like they used to and letting KD sit it out. I also think that KD is ready to ride off into the sunset and has little desire to battle to get back on the court.
  22. Yep and the truth is that almost everyone would take the "fan's" side saying "you can't go after a fan even if they touch you." The guy should get the Don Sterling treatment and be forced to leave the league and his investment. That being said, the value of his investment is up massively so the only downside is that he doesn't get to go to games anymore. Him being booted might make him millions. Him being suspended and fined is the only way to hurt his pocketbook AND his ego, not just his ego.
  23. The Knicks suck and will always suck with their ownership. The truth is they haven't been a factor for 19 years now. Once Ewing's broken ass knees retired and Van Gundy was out they turned to absolute shit. And the truth is that they had 2 great seasons in the 20 years prior to Gundy's tenure as well, neither of them resulting in a championship. The only reason the Knicks are expected to be good is because they are in a big market. But the fact is that they are a loser team for 89% of their miserable existence. 2 Championships in 8 Championship round appearances in 73 years of life. All but 2 of their appearances came before the merger when there were 11, 10, 10, 14, and 17 teams in the league. New York fucking sucks and there should be no expectation that they will ever be good. Nothing in their history says they should be good.
  24. Disagree. I’m 34 and rich and am looking for the earliest possible out to leave Tulsa.
  25. In 2019 the average tenure of a senator is 10.1 years. That’s after 8 senators left office. They averaged 13.75 years of tenure. The greater problem though isn’t how much time you spend in the senate or house for the most part. It is the tenure in politics in general. This isn’t a career path but has been made to be that by people who want power. Those same 8 senators who are no longer in office have an average political career of 31.375 years. Claire Mccaskill for example has a 36 year career. She has presided over my life one way or another for the entire 34.5 years of it. That’s ludicrous. Further, on average, prior to 1860 40% of representatives would NOT seek re-election. Today that number is below 11.5%. So are they in DC for us or for themselves?
