  1. Yeah, Baylor has given KU a lot of trouble but KU always seems to come out on top. FYI, went back and looked at the noncon SOS for baylor under Drew. That is where he racks up his wins... 324, 313, 330, 334, 336, 286, 218, 237, 330, 236, 117, 171, 172, 257, 110, 282 for an average NCSOS of 253. Maybe we need to pump the brakes on his coaching ability. Over the same time span KU's NCSOS average is 86. I think it is safe to say that Drew might have missed a few more tourneys if he played a tougher schedule.
  2. I always seem to be the drew basher on this site. I think he’s great for what he is and where he is but I also think he could do more with what he has had from a talent standpoint. Some of the athletes he puts on the floor make crazy mismatches and he doesn’t coach them up. Then he has a team like this and he coaches out of his mind. It’s crazy. He’s been at Baylor since 2003: 3-13 1-15 4-12 4-12 9-7 11-5 5-11 7-9 12-6 9-9 9-9 11-7 10-8 12-6 8-10 Not including this year he will be over .500 six times in 15 years. Not really consistently a winner. He always comes strong but his teams ALWAYS falter. Traditionally it has been his lack of willingness to teach defense. He has all of the tools to be a far better coach than what he is, he just refuses to use all of those tools in any given season.

Parker is a massive pick up. It looks like our official number of schollies to give is 13. Beaty really fucked our roster. 11 blueshirts and 1 grey shirt last year. It also sounds like we might get the local kid who is currently committed to Michigan. I don’t know his skill set or even name but that would make a lot of noise and announce a presence that we’ve never had in football. I think wise 100% gets drafted and I think Dineen is 100% on a roster, maybe even drafted. He is a Ben heeney clone and Ben was starting for the chargers over the last couple of years. The motor, smarts, and nose for the ball are all there. He’ll be an absolute steal for someone in the late rounds or as an undrafted FA.
  4. Where in the hell did shayok come from??
  5. Manek’s face makes me want to puke.
  6. I'll make a separate post on the NCAA issues because I don't want one post to be full derka and too long. The truth is that the NCAA is the only entity that can stop the payments to players. The only way they can stop it is by changing themselves. Punishing players, coaches, or schools won't stop anything. Give KU the death penalty and UK is going to keep paying kids because as long as they don't get caught they are going to have great talent. Coaches are still going to comply because getting good players makes you look like a good coach. So coaches will continue to have a future. Players that are getting big bucks don't care. Allegedly Zion got $100k and his parents live in a $800k house in durham. Is he worried about his eligibility? Hell no. His worst case scenario is he got paid and gets to train for a year until the draft and still goes #1. He was #1 before he set foot on campus. The only deterrent is post season bans for schools. Take 4 scholarships a year, who cares? Rotations are 9 deep at the most on a 15 scholarship team. If you put two of the top 5 recruits on the same team, lotto picks, then you don't need the other 4 players that you would have had. So the NCAA can't do anything to stop it. The bigger issue is the NCAA had a committee come out and say "we aren't the problem, everyone else is" this summer. So nothing is going to change. The idea that we can pay players is absurd. The money isn't there in athletic departments alone without killing title 9. That isn't going to happen. So until the NCAA lets players market themselves we'll never have a resolution. Let them get market value from outside sources, just don't let the money come from schools.
  7. Haha.. My view on De Sousa is absolutely as partisan as it comes. The fact is the kid has been jerked around for a year and got hammered by the NCAA and KU is next to get hammered. My view is more of an indictment on the system than it is in place. The guardian took advantage of the situation and the kid got popped. Those are the rules and the only reason KU hasn't gotten popped yet is because the FBI fucked up the evidence and so they had to list KU as a victim instead of our coaches being a part of the defendant group. Fuck yeah it is partisan. KU is in a couple of unique positions with unique paths to go down: Position 1) KU is having a pretty shit season relative to how successful we have been. This is the worst KU team since 2008-09 and we're damn lucky the league is so down or we'd be out of the running altogether for the conference crown. We have no leadership on the court, we can't shoot consistently, our 3 point defense (the shot that takes us out of every NCAA tourney) is atrocious, and we can't win on the road. This team needs something to coalesce around and the fans need something too. So fuck the NCAA. They're perfect to bring this team together. Position 2) KU had to admit that Gassanola was a booster. An Adidas bag man/employee is a booster of KU. He isn't, he is a fucking bag man. Now that this has been admitted because the NCAA implied they'd go easy on SDS that is on the record. So we are going to get smoked when they decide to do enforcement and penalty proceedings this summer on all things FBI investigation. We're going to get smoked because of it. I'm not sure if the NCAA can force you to fire a coach but in the worst case scenario we could lose a coach that could be top 10 all time. That is a shitty spot to be in because it would come with scholarship loss, vacated wins, and suspensions from postseason play. On top of this, we aren't going to recruit for shit this year because of the looming cloud. The reason I'm partisan about it is because KU is definitely not the only school in this game. Missouri Valley players were getting paid $5k. If a wihcita state player is taking money then everyone is fucking dirty. However, KU is the biggest scalp that the NCAA can take and they will. If we lose HCBS because of it I hope he puts out a list of every player he recruited that got paid so the entire NCAA is burnt to the ground. I'm salty as shit about it because we're going to get drilled, we might as well become supreme assholes until that day. Any KU fan that doesn't see that is delusional. We'd be smart to lawyer up and go after the NCAA just like UNC did. That is the only way we have a chance.
  8. One of the better college players I've ever seen. The aggressiveness he had was something you don't see from nearly anyone anymore. Also was one of the most disappointing NBA players to ever play. Which means he got paid. $84M career earnings.
  9. LOL at your brother getting sent to his room. That is something I would absolutely expect out of a dad in the mid-90's when his son is actively rooting against his team. I was also 10-11 years old that year and that was the first year that I was really into basketball other than the tournament. I remember my mom bought a ton of big 8 posters thinking they'd be worth something down the road because it was the last year of the league. Like what typically happens, those posters were thrown away when we moved 9 years later.
  10. Oddly, the SWC conference started play on 1/6 that year with only 8 teams. Both leagues ended play on 3/2. The big 8 was playing games basically every 2-3 days which is pretty insane given how schedules work now.
  11. Big 8 ball was always awesome to watch. I went back and checked how we scheduled back then. Home and away just like we do now but with 14 games. League play didn't start until 1/20 in the final season of the big 8. That's crazy to me.
  12. Rankings out, only 3 big12 teams in the top 25. I think KU is still a little high. I maintain my argument that the big 12 is really down. 1 Tennessee(48) 20-1 1579 - 2 Duke(12) 19-2 1532 - 3 Virginia(4) 20-1 1478 - 4 Gonzaga 21-2 1423 - 5 Kentucky 18-3 1310 2 6 Nevada 21-1 1228 2 7 Michigan 20-2 1217 2 8 North Carolina 17-4 1167 1 9 Michigan State 18-4 1051 3 10 Marquette 19-3 1029 - 11 Virginia Tech 18-3 948 1 12 Houston 21-1 838 1 13 Kansas 17-5 809 2 14 Villanova 18-4 801 - 15 Purdue 16-6 697 2 16 Louisville 16-6 561 1 17 Iowa State 17-5 545 3 18 Texas Tech 17-5 482 2 19 Wisconsin 16-6 462 5 20 Iowa 17-5 242 6 21 LSU 17-4 205 2 22 Florida State 16-5 180 3 23 Buffalo 19-3 153 5 24 Maryland 17-6 144 3 25 Cincinnati 19-3 142 1 Others receiving votes: Washington 135, Mississippi State 133, Auburn 128, Kansas State 114, Baylor 44, Wofford 15, Lipscomb 5, Syracuse 3 Dropped from rankings: Mississippi State 22, NC State 23
  13. It’s why I mentioned Morningstar. Even KU fans hated him for 9 years.
  14. But no one will ever be worse than Brady Morningstar and keeton Paige.
  15. Look at Culver’s stat line. Did a fouls make him have a bad game or did his own shitty play and good KU defense do the trick. We all knew tech was atrocious on offense and KU had something to prove. A charge call 8 minutes into the first half does not make or break a game.
  16. Only against Ku dies one blown call in the first half make the difference in a 20 point blowout where walk ons were playing for 2+ minutes. It also just so happens that KU was already up 9. Further, culver actually played slighty more than his season average of 31 minutes per game. He also shot the ball 4 times more than he averages. His inefficient offense was more to blame than the foul call. i learned 2 years ago not to comment on those posts but given the NCAA’s decisions I’m all in. Fuck the NCAA and fuck the big 12. Give us every favorable call and let’s extend the streak. I want 30 FTs to KSU’s 4 on Tuesday night. Hopefully every call goes in our favor the rest of the season and at the end of February we are holding up a 15th trophy and the rest of the league is bitching like they always do because the world is so cruel to them. Fuck em all.
  17. They got better after they lost their best player (I believe he was). Drew is either a moron who can’t evaluate his own talent or he is going to win coach of the year. Maybe both.
  18. If you read the statement you’ll see 2 key things. 1. This was not about enforcement of having De Sousa play last year. 2. The ncaa effectively tricked KU into saying adidas was a booster. This means after the season KU is in for more punishment because it is pretty easy to say self and Townsend worked with “boosters” to secure recruits. Since you don’t give a fuck about KU maybe you’ll find enjoyment in the fact that if they punished a kid this hard on an eligibility issue they are going to hammer KU on the newly created booster issue. KU is going to be forced to go rogue on the NCAA. This is exactly how a dynasty ends.
  19. Here is KU AD Jeff long’s Response to the de Sousa suspension. Pulls back the curtain on the investigation a little:
  20. Chris Mack buyout is 6M before 4/1 and 5.5 after. He’s the next in line for blue blood so I don’t know if he would make a move to UT even with the UL penalties.
  21. Kansas vs. the world. Fuck the ncaa.
  22. Tough charge call for tech and culver but fuck the big12 and fuck the ncaa.
  23. Your trolling is so obvious. Even if HCBS is officially pulled into something and the ncaa has direct evidence of his involvement, which they don’t or he would have been on trial like other coaches, the NCAA doesn’t punish coaches. They punish kids and future kids. They do t really give a shit about schools, boosters, coaches, parents/guardians.
  24. The sad thing is the NCAA acknowledged that only $2500 was sent directly to the guardian. Not the father, the guardian. The kids family lives in Angola. Part of me wants KU to go full tarkanian and just play SDS. Let his lawyer figure it out but tell the NCAA to fuck off and win the conference outright. If it’s vacated they won’t award it to the next best team and the streak is alive with a gap year. If the NCAA is going to treat you like the evil empire because of $2500 then you might as well be the evil empire. Fuck it, the only thing left to do is win the whole damn thing. Win the small and the big tourney too and we basically fucked the entire season for everyone. Also, Garrett hurt his ankle and is out today. Tech is going to pummel us. Culver is probably going to have a career day.
  25. De Sousa ruled ineligible for 2 years until the 20-21 season. He should file a massive lawsuit against the NCAA just like UNC did when they had the academic fraud deal. Only $2500 was ever proven to his guardian. I maintain that I don’t think he’ll ever play in a KU uniform but I didn’t think it was because they’d run out his eligibility via penalty. The ncaa is flat out of control and the member schools need to smack them down.
