The same way the national media hasn't been all over Calipari, Roy, and K for the last several decades. The same way the media wasn't all over McGuire and Sosa. The MLB, players, and media all knew just like the NCAA, media, and coaches all knew what was happening. If you pay attention to recruiting in college at all then you know that there have always been rumblings of players getting paid. But the cheating is so rampant that the only penalty that could be assessed is LOIC for the NCAA, not the schools. The media knows exactly what is going on and they feign outrage every once in a while when a "journalist" has a bone to pick with someone but the media companies don't want to cut off their nose to spite their face. KU appears on Big Monday upwards of 8-10 times a season. The do this because they are a great draw for monday viewership. You think ESPN wants to kill their audience by putting South carolina v. Vanderbilt on monday night? It is all a huge money game, which makes the outrage even more laughable. Phog.net is hilarious right now with some posters even going as far to say that this is on self and he should be canned. They are upset because we are caught with cookie crumbs in our bed and the cookie jar is empty. But this is a huge nothingburger when it comes to the sport in general. That doesn't mean it isn't a huge deal, it is. But $2500 to a kid's guardian is nothing. The asking price for Zion was 100k. Ayton was 100k. Bowen was somehow 200k, and Anthony Davis was rumored to receive 200k from UK. Don't forget about WWW either. The media made noise about him and UK and the NCAA quietly swept him under the rug. Try not to bring faux outrage to anywhere but the politics board, especially as a fan of a school that is notorious for shit like this with a coach who has had some of his most successful season vacated.

This is true, but Vick has something going on upstairs. It might not be his own doing either. Word is that he has some major family drama back home in Memphis. Self demands mental toughness and Vick just can't keep himself together about half of the season. That's why he was run off last year, only to come back after he agreed to a certain set of rules imposed by Self. I don't want to pretend to know what the hell is going on, but it is apparent that something finally needed to be done with Vick (either by self or on his own) and this is the conclusion that has come. I HIGHLY doubt he ever suits up again. That being said, KU now has 9 scholarship players (8 with garrett out). Maybe Teahan can recreate his older brother's shooting prowess and see 8 minutes a game as a walk on. We're out of the running for the league at this point unless he was a major cancer to the team and we pick it up without him. If he wasn't the problem, we will have this same team next year which might not be good. Suck to go a year without any sports to really have hope in.

Absolutely a line can be crossed. I would also say that the line moves with the changing of time. The culture of our country is constantly changing and that is happening independent of politicians, and in some cases because of politicians. I 100% agree with you there. My post was to point out that it is only the politicians that use this stuff as a weapon in every day life. I bet 90% of the posters on this board have dropped a C or N-bomb. I bet a ton of them have said something to the effect of "I gave it to that bitch hard and fast." That doesn't mean they can't be functioning adults and even damn good people. The difference is that if you even hint at something that could be taken as anti-Semite (like when someone says "I don't get why we help Israel") then you are now politically toxic. Every senator that has appropriated 10 cents to Israel is on your ass. Not one citizen is going to vote for you, or not, because of that comment. My rant was about weaponizing these issues. The funny thing about the politicians is that they started this and they did it to keep us divided so we wouldn't vote them out like we should. They thought this would take hold in the population and people would stop doing business with me because I'm an atheist, but the truth is the population doesn't give a rats ass about my religion if I make a good product. Now the politicians are finding out that only they are subject to their own weapons on a daily basis and they are fucking so afraid of it that they are admitting shit from the fucking 60's. Fuck man... I have 10 mistakes I made from Sunday night when I was fucked up that no one gives a shit about now because I said "I was hammered." On the other side you have Lizzie trying to figure something out from the 80's and save face so she can be president. The only reason I care about that shit is because she said that I have to care. They are all rats and now they are scurrying from the sinking ships they built out of rotten wood. I find it very entertaining and hope it continues until all of them are out of office or they all say "ok... this is ridiculous, we'll get back to work instead of attacking each other every day."

You know what would cut this off without a doubt? Age limits at worst and term limits at best. Why is someone who lived through the Jim Crow era even in office anymore? Because he's hip and can relate to the 20-somethings? Or is it because he has a "D" or an "R" by his name and he has been successful in his role in the joint quest between R's and D' to make sure that only R's and D's are around? That's why I didn't even get off my fucking couch to vote for McCain, if anything I would have voted for Obama. Chances are someone who brought up their 1968 yearbook has been in politics for way too long at any level...... annnnnnnd a cursory look shows that Norment has been in politics at one level or another for 26 years. We deposed Qaddafi because "20 years is too long to be in charge." Do you think he is down to lose his job or do you think he wants to protect it at all costs given he has probably done fuckall with his life outside of being in office.

Stop. That's not what was said at all. No one likes it. But the vast majority of the population recognizes that that's just part of the fucking world. No one should harass women and no one should use "fag" as a derogatory remark. The point of the post is that not one person in this country expects perfection out of politicians. Politicians have used "less than perfect" as a weapon against each other and now they are finding out that they can't live up to the standards that THEY put in place. If you only picked out harassment and the word "fag" out of my post then you are part of the 0.0001% I mentioned. If you're living perfection then why don't you post your name and city of birth and we'll dig for the dirt on you.

This shit started a long time ago and it wasn't the people who demanded it. It was the politicians who did in an effort to get the people to get pissed off about it. Bush 1 started with the lies about taxes. How can you lie?? He's out to a very suave Clinton. Repubs are pissed and go after Clinton. Sure his dealings were shady but no one cared about perjury or whitewater because the repubs were too busy saying "HOW COULD YOU CHEAT ON YOUR WIFE????" Ohhhhhh the moral outrage while John McCain is banging his sidepiece. They did some damage but not enough to win an election. A key lesson for Dems. Bush 2 comes along and the dems pull out the deception of his service but lose because Gore is a fucking mess. After 4 years of war though and an undesired invasion of Iraq to cure his daddy's mistakes they have what they need. "HOW CAN YOU KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE FOR OIL???" Not a chance in hell repubs were going to win 2008. But with that, Barry comes along and it is just fucking open season. Say what you want about the merits of his birth, his religion, or his politics, the repubs were all in and he and his team was all in as well. That was a historic election in many ways. One because we elected our first minority president. But also because EVERYTHING became fair game in politics. Minorities defended political stances claiming racism was why people didn't believe them or give them the benefit of the doubt (which is very true in some cases), white men screamed that they were being marginalized, women have no fucking clue what to do but they know they will be sent back to servitude if they don't get exactly their way, and the only group that was above ALL of the noise was the politicians. Ever notice that? When Barry said race is playing a part in his presidency he never called a senator or congressman racist. He said it was the citizens. When Hillary didn't get elected she never talked about not having the support of men in the senate or congress, she said that all males are misogynist. When Kerry was questioned on his Vietnam stance and military alignment he didn't attack anyone but the citizens on that. It is weird how the politicians, the only people with a microphone in their face 24/7, were able to make all of us the worst people in the world but we never hear a peep about David Duke who was a congressman and a close ally of the clintons. We never hear about current elected officials and their days of blackface. We only hear about people who threaten these politico's jobs. Those people are the enemy, not my fellow politician and I'm certainly no enemy of the people. So who is it that has been demanding moral perfection? I still say fuck and sometimes even "cunt" at the office. I call my homosexual friend "fags" sometimes when we're joking around. I have tossed around the word retard more recently than 1990. Fuck I sent a dick pic to a chick across the country just last night. Citizens have called for fairness, not moral perfection. The LGBTQ community wants to be recognized and have equal rights under the law. That's awesome. The AA population would like to stop being subjugated by the militarized police. A Very fair ask. The feminists want to be able to make a wage like a man does. No problem with that. As a conservative I see nothing wrong with these asks and I also see none of these groups saying "You have to live your life by the 10 commandments but you better never step foot in a church. You also better never curse or make an advance on a woman, and you damn sure better have an equal amount of black friends as you do white ones. Oh yeah, you better start kissing dudes too because I don't see a strong history of you supporting gay rights." Not one of these groups has said this is how it has to be and the citizens that do are ALWAYS in the minority. The politicians have created this culture and now they are pissy that some of them are having to live by the rhetoric they spread across the country. The did this to themselves. 0.0001% of this country WANTS moral perfection. Those people just happen to be radicals and politicians. I'm glad they're getting fucked and if Teflon Don went down because of his comments it would have been well warranted. But the truth is, no one gives a shit but the holier than thou politicians. It is their only weapon because they have realized that the country is pretty much on cruise control at this point and they can't come up with a policy that actually helps EVERYONE. Fuck em all. Sleep in the fucking bed you made.

To keep KSU in check, we need them to go 2-2 in their next 4. Then the top 4-5 teams will really control their own destiny the last 4 games of the season.
-
Checking it out: KSU - 9 games left - 2 away games against the top 5, 4 total games against the top 5. KU: 8 games - 1 away game against the top 5, 3 total games against the top 5. Baylor: 8 games - 4 away games against the top 5, 5 total games against the top 5 ISU: 8 games - 1 away game against the top 5, 3 total games against the top 5 Tech: 8 games - 1 away game against the top 5, 3 games against the top 5. I'd say that tech and ISU have the easiest schedules left because they don't have to come to KU like Baylor and KSU do. Then KU, then KSU, and Baylor is going to have a brutal finish. The wildcard is that KSU has one more game to play than the rest of the top 5. If that game were played right now and they lose then they are tied for the lead with ISU, a half game ahead of Baylor, and a game ahead of Tech and KU. I don't know how the scheduling got messed up like that but they are going to have a tough stretch. Their catch up is between now and the 23rd. 2/9 @ Baylor 2/12 @ UT 2/16 ISU 2/18 @ WVU 2/23 OSU I wish we would get them at KU on the 18th but it wasn't meant to be. I never thought I'd say that the league is going to have to step up to keep KSU from running away with the crown.
-
The unique thing about the style of play that KSU is rolling out this year, and WVU did the last 4-5 years, is that the officials really help them. Forget who "gets" the calls, the fact that there are so many calls really disrupts the flow of the game and doesn't let anyone get into a rhythm. They called 7 charges in the first half of the KU v. KSU game. 18 fouls in the first half. Add so good defense to that (20 turnovers between the teams) and the ball is just never going through the basket or being move efficiently enough to get things going. That is a great way to win when you have guys who can keep their heads, and a great home crowd doesn't hurt, down the stretch. KSU did that and won easily really. If they had guys who could shoot a little then they would be a very poor man's virginia. This is exactly how they won in the tourney last year. It is a pretty damn good strategy when you think about it.

This is hilarious. Just like the pee pee dossier then? Every major outlet had it and none would run it. Only buzzfeed who is a fringe blog that regularly runs stories so you can find out what type of pop tart you are. But that is real and this is a fringe hit piece. It is thought process like this why people like warren are going to eliminate themselves early. The dems have set a standard with their idealistic view of society that even they can’t live up to. Now the chickens are coming to roost and it’s all unfair and fringe accusations whether it be against warren, Northam, the Virginia Lt. gov, or this bitch. We shouldnhave a referendum vote to kick every elected official out of office right now. The bureaucracy can run itself until the new flow gets up to speed.
-
If KSU wins this league I’ll never hear the end of it.
-
Totally agree on Dearmon. He is a guy who doesn't necessarily have a groundbreaking new scheme like Chip Kelly does but he is very highly regarded and no coach wants to risk their job on a NAIA guy. Couldn't be a better situation for him and for KU to see if he has the chops to become a big deal in the major leagues. Fuck, he could end up being our next HC if we and he play our cards right. I'm ready for spring ball.
-
I just looked again. 247 now has us with the 64th best class. That is a fucking insane accomplishment when you consider we have 13 scholarships and had one 2* guy who decommitted in November. We also snuck into the 9 spot in the big 12. Tech now has a worse class than KU. Looking at the 3-5 classes in the big12 (not UT and OU) and if KU can get some wins this year (4?) we might have a massive class next year. TCU has the 3rd best class with 3 four star and 23 three star kids. In the 5 spot, OSU is at 3 & 18. Is it crazy to think that a 4-5 win season for KU and staff continuity could mean that we are bringing in 15+ three star guys and maybe 2-3 four stars? I haven't followed recruiting until Beaty started going in dry on our roster so I don't know how easy it is to get a 3 star kid or how many there are any given year. I could be out of my gourd here.
-
This is why I posed the question about who is the guy. They paid a whole lot for someone who might be their 5th option, and they depleted their bench. Do you do that for the #5 guy? If he is going to be a better option than JJ then do you do it for the #4 guy? What if he is their #3? They are going balls deep on this trade. Maybe they do want to move Butler? fuck they might look around the league and at Embiid and say "Joel has talked a little about wanting to win and a little about his role on the team. If we don't do something he is going to AD us and we're just screwed," and so they are willing to overspend to make sure Joel doesn't have a wandering eye.

I don't think wiggins likes basketball. If you told me that a superstar was going to retire after their current contract is up (given that they are 36 or younger) I would bet wiggins all day. The guy just never has had any fire, going back to his HS days when KU was recruiting him. He plays because he has talent, not because he likes to. He just got lucky that his talent is in something that he can make $200M real quick and call it a day while I'm talented at jerking off and no one is paying me for that...... yet.
-
I thought he was fine how he handled leaving Minny. He should have never followed Thibbs and that mistake is on him, but I have no problem with him calling out his lazy teammates and demanding a trade. He could have redeemed that blemish when he went to the sixers by just working hard and coaching up young guys that were also working hard. Instead he is just a bitch now. It was never about working hard like his excuse in Minny was. It is about him doing whatever the fuck he wants. Such a disappointment.
-
So if you're the sixers are you at the point where you don't have a #1, #2, #3 guy? What would your order be of who you put the ball in the hands of? Embiid Butler Harris JJ Simmons?
-
Your best bet is to give him like $500k and tell him to just go be a high school coach again and send his best players to UT.
-
Looks like we closed out our class with 3 more 3* athletes and a defensive end. Got our ranking from the second worst in the country to 91 per 247. That's pretty good considering Beaty had one guy (and he decommitted) and only handed us what ended up being 13 scholarships. We found out this week that Beaty blue-shirted 3 guys who were grad transfers. I hope herman is giving him zero autonomy because he will fuck you guys over if he is allowed to use his brain.
-
If we win this conference I get to shame you all by fucking your wives. This KU team is soft and retarded. Seriously, there is no reason KU should finish higher than 4th.
-
Welp... Fuck KSU.
-
This game is so ugly... gives KSU a great advantage in my opinion.
-
KSU has scored 14 since we went zone with 16.5 minutes left.
-
KU should be down right now. KSU's offense is worse than I thought and I thought it was really bad.
